Sigmetrix To Sponsor COExperience, April 10-13 in New Orleans

News Image

We are thrilled to be able to introduce CETOL 6σ v11.2 with new functionality to include thermal effects in variation analyses extremely quickly at COExperience.

Sigmetrix, experts in mechanical variation management, will sponsor COExperience, the premier Dassault Systèmes user-focused conference, from April 10-13 in New Orleans. They are also the sponsor of the Engineering Analyze and Simulate track, focusing on the processes, methods and tools for modeling and the synthesis of engineering systems; and the engineering analysis and simulation of products. The Sigmetrix team will be at booth 306 in the TechniFair to demonstrate their products and answer any questions attendees may have.

There is a lot of discussion in industry about Model-Based, Industry 4.0 and Digital Thread. Many companies are starting down the path toward a Model-Based Enterprise, but that path can be challenging. There are many facets to becoming truly Model-Based, but as the name implies, the key is the models themselves and their connections to various parameters. It is important that all requirements be tied directly to this comprehensive set of models to ensure traceability and usability. One set of requirements that is critical to the quality of any product is its dimensional requirements that are used to control mechanical variation. Sigmetrix, with its knowledge of managing mechanical variation, can help maximize the return on your MBD / MBE investment in the following ways:

  • Ensure the integrity of your MBD to maximize usability
  • Guide the creation of optimal dimensioning schemes, including GD&T
  • Promote consistent knowledge between contributors and consumers
  • Assess and improve the maturity of your organization’s Mechanical Variation Management

To be most effective throughout the life of the product, the dimension scheme and tolerance definitions must be defined by analysis, and the data needed to support the analysis should be stored with the design. Doing so guarantees that those who support manufacturing and inspection have access to all information that may be helpful in troubleshooting issues that arise. Furthermore, future design teams will benefit from being able to modify the work previously done instead of starting from scratch.

Sigmetrix’s solutions enable you to address these challenges and ensure success by:

  • Addressing challenges related to loss of “tribal knowledge” and workforce attrition
  • Democratizing the depth and breadth of understanding
  • Making data and insights easily accessible to everyone
  • Enabling a consistent/common language and approach

Sigmetrix has been Dassault Systèmes Gold Partner since 2002 with CETOL 6σ for CATIA V5-6. This powerful tolerance analysis solution, CETOL 6σ, couples the power and functionality of Dassault Systèmes’ CATIA parametric design capabilities with precise calculations and advanced mathematical technologies.

Attendees will want to make sure to catch Stephen Werst, Director of Customer Success and Product Strategy, present “Quickly Including Temperature Effects in Tolerance Analysis.” This presentation will provide a brief description and demonstration of the latest version of CETOL with functionality enabling engineers to include thermal effects in variation analyses extremely quickly.

“Often, critical gaps and alignments must be maintained over a wide range of operational temperatures, and the task of adjusting the tolerance analysis results to account for thermal expansion or contraction of the parts at different temperatures can be time consuming,” stated Stephen Werst, Director of Customer Success and Product Strategy. “We are thrilled to be able to introduce CETOL 6σ v11.2 with new functionality to include thermal effects in variation analyses extremely quickly at COExperience.”

In addition to demonstrating CETOL 6σ at their booth Sigmetrix will be showing off their entire portfolio of comprehensive, easy-to-use solutions including:

  • EZtol, a 1D analysis tool designed to make it easier to create, manage and report upon multiple 1D tolerance analyses in an assembly
  • Training provided through more than a dozen instructor-led and computer-based courses covering basic to advanced GD&T/GPS, MBE, and MBD
  • Consulting and implementation services team with years of experience in tolerance analysis and GD&T definition offers a variety of consulting services to augment your team, speed your project along and run analyses for your assemblies

FiberLocator, a CCMI business, delivers API enhancement to provide greater geospatial analyses

This enhancement is significant because while we have always provided map tiles and other data in the API, now we are including the GeoJSON format that makes the data more accessible for analysis and control,

In order to provide customers with the most comprehensive fiber locator tool in the industry, FiberLocator, a CCMI business, is proud to announce its latest enhancement that allows API users to perform more sophisticated geospatial analysis to calculate raw data and further analyze and inspect lines.

With this latest addition to the application programming interface (API), FiberLocator now delivers geographic feature information, along with map images. API users having access to this level of GIS data opens greater opportunities for mapping analysis, especially at the critical last mile of connectivity.

Putting it in more technical terms, this enhancement to the FiberLocator platform enables GeoJSON objects to be utilized in any GIS software to allow for various mapping and geospatial analyses, meaning customers will now be able to have the option of retrieving a GeoJSON FeatureCollection over a small area based on a latitude and longitude for a specific radius or around a single address for a specified radius.

“This enhancement is significant because while we have always provided map tiles and other data in the API, now we are including the GeoJSON format that makes the data more accessible for analysis and control,” says Senior Product Manager, Karen Wiens. “It is really fascinating to see how far the application has come and evolved over the years as we are continuously making improvements. This update is just the latest example of that.”

If you want to learn more about the enhancement and how to use the new features with your GIS software, FiberLocator is hosting a free webinar on April 7, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. EST to present use cases. For more details, visit https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/8584732124590563852.

MetaMetrics Partners With SoapBox Labs to Offer Edtech Companies Voice-Enabled Reading Assessments

News Image

MetaMetrics®, developer of the widely adopted Lexile® Framework, and SoapBox Labs, provider of specialist speech recognition technology for kids, today announced a partnership to automate the evaluation of oral reading fluency for students preK-12 using voice-enabled assessments.

The Lexile Framework for Oral Reading measures the oral readability of a text based on Words Correct Per Minute (WCPM) but also uniquely takes into account the difficulty of the passage the student is tested on. With this new partnership, the time-consuming manual calculation of a student’s oral reading measure is replaced by a voice-enabled approach that’s automated, reliable and proven. The dynamic feedback loop offered by the SoapBox voice engine also allows young students’ proficiency to be benchmarked more regularly, giving teachers better data and insights to help even the youngest learners build foundational reading skills.

“For decades, we’ve imagined the vast potential for speech recognition technology when it comes to measuring a child’s reading fluency. Developed by applying learning technology to thousands of hours of children’s speech, SoapBox Labs’ voice engine offers a world-class platform for delivering our Lexile oral reading measures to learners around the world,” said Dr. Malbert Smith, CEO and co-founder, MetaMetrics. “With an increasing number of students lagging behind in reading, it is more important now than ever before to gain insights that will accelerate children’s literacy development.”

SoapBox Labs’ deep understanding of how children acquire language and literacy, including the unique qualities of young children’s phonics, has allowed their speech recognition technology to accurately and efficiently automate the scoring of oral reading, similar to how a teacher might in the classroom. In evaluating SoapBox Labs’ technology, MetaMetrics researchers found a very high correlation between the SoapBox voice engine and human annotators when assessing for oral reading fluency, surpassing their rigorous criteria for approved partners. The evaluation also found no meaningful difference between the scores generated by SoapBox’s voice engine and human assessors.

“The Lexile Framework has, for years, provided parents, educators — and learners — with understanding and insights to unlock reading potential at nearly every level,” said Dr. Martyn Farrows, CEO, SoapBox Labs. “Measurement of oral reading fluency is such a natural and important application of our voice technology. We are immensely proud to have our voice engine validated by a partner as fundamental and iconic to literacy learning as MetaMetrics, and to partner with them as we create a new era of literacy assessment.”

To learn more about this partnership and the future of voice-enabled assessments of oral reading, register for the webinar, “SoapBox Labs + MetaMetrics: Rethinking reading assessment with the Lexile Framework for Oral Reading and kid-specific voice technology,” on April 19, at 11 am ET/4 pm GMT.

About SoapBox Labs

SoapBox Labs’ proprietary high accuracy speech recognition technology caters to the idiosyncrasies and unique speech patterns of children that adult-focused speech technology finds hard to decode. Built from the ground up by a team of world-renowned speech recognition and AI experts, our privacy-driven voice engine powers a wide range of third party experiences from literacy and English language learning to digital gaming and interactive tv for children grades preK-12.

SoapBox’s award-winning voice engine powers educational tools, including voice-enabled oral reading fluency assessments, for education powerhouses like McGraw Hill and pioneers like Amplify. It is also the voice technology of choice for the Reach Every Reader initiative, a partnership between the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the MIT Integrated Learning Initiative and Florida State University which is funded by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.

SoapBox Labs was founded by Dr. Patricia Scanlon, whose popular TEDx talk explains how voice technology can “transform a child’s reading journey.” Scanlon was named a “visionary in voice” in 2020. She has also been named to Forbes list of the Top 50 Women in Tech globally.

About MetaMetrics

MetaMetrics is an award-winning education technology organization that offers the only scientifically valid, universal scales for measuring silent and oral reading and listening (Lexile) and math (Quantile) with plans to develop measures for writing. The Lexile and Quantile Frameworks measure student ability and the complexity of the content they encounter. Lexile and Quantile measures and related technologies link assessment to instruction and provide next steps for students of all ages and abilities. The measures also provide valuable insights about students’ potential for growth. MetaMetrics’ measures, products and services are licensed to dozens of education product companies to help achieve that growth. For 35 years, MetaMetrics’ work is increasingly recognized for its research-based approach to improving learning. For more information, visit https://metametricsinc.com/.
