TiE Florida Angel Network (TiEFAN) and Seedfunders partner to increase early stage deal flow in the Southeast

Seedfunders, a St. Petersburg-based investment group specializing in pre-revenue technology concepts, announces its partnership with TiE Florida Angels Network.

TiEFAN will refer companies seeking less than $1M to Seedfunders. Those startups that successfully complete Seedfunders’ five-stage vetting process receive lead investment from Seedfunders’ recently announced Catalyst Fund. Investment is also opened up to Seedfunders partners, to TiEFAN and individual TiE members.

“TiEFAN’s investment criteria does not allow it to lead investments in companies that are pre-revenue or companies that are seeking less than $1 million in capital,” said Suhas Apte, president of TiE Tampa Bay.

“We have a lot of entrepreneurs who are at an early stage, raising money from friends and family, but once they get to the next round, there’s been no one to invest in them,” Apte said.

Providing investment capital to pre-revenue companies who typically struggle to secure Angel funding could help them grow to the size where they can meet TiEFAN’s criteria.

“We look forward to growing companies that we can pass back to TiEFAN in later stages,” Joe Hamilton, Catalyst Fund Director, said.

The partnership broadens the geographic reach of Seedfunders, and its Catalyst Fund, to TiE’s four metro area chapters: Tampa-St. Pete, Miami, Atlanta and Charlotte.

“The partnership is an economic development tool that will boost entrepreneurship while expanding Seedfunders’ investment opportunities, and give TiE members new ways to back young companies,” said Irv Cohen, Seedfunders co-founder and partner.

“It drastically expands the pipeline of opportunity to Seedfunders to help us bring the best opportunities to our investors,” Cohen said. “It’s part of the long-term goal to develop the entrepreneurial model in our region.”

About Seedfunders

Seedfunders provides funding and mentoring for pre-revenue technology concepts, with guidance on bringing ideas to market, and maximizing success. Seedfunders also recently launched a new funding organization to back young companies in Orlando.

About TiEFAN

TiEFAN is an investment group made up of some of the members of TiE Tampa Bay — a nonprofit organization that encourages entrepreneurship, one of 60 chapters in 17 countries of Silicon Valley-based The IndUS Entrepreneurs.

People are required to carry several devices in order to complete their jobs and it has become a burden. We want to minimize this burden.

KOAMTAC®, Inc., a leading manufacturer of Bluetooth companion barcode scanners, barcode and RFID Sleds, mPOS solutions, and smartphone/tablet charging solutions has announced a 20pin OtterBox® uniVERSE Adaptor for their SmartSleds and Charging Cases.

The 20pin OUA connects directly to a phone or tablet using a magnetic connector for power and data transfer. The adaptor was created for use with the OtterBox® uniVERSE Case System® series of cases for Samsung Galaxy® devices.

“People are required to carry several devices in order to complete their jobs and it has become a burden,” said Dr. Hanjin Lee, CEO of KOAMTAC. “We want to minimize this burden by empowering the phones they’re already carrying with the ability to read barcodes, scan RFID tags, take payment, and even display a presentation or video. This adaptor is the key to that functionality. When combined with OtterBox uniVERSE’s easily swappable feature and Samsung’s DeX feature, a business user is limitless.”

The 20pin OUA allows a user to connect a KOAMTAC KDC470/475 Barcode SmartSled, HF or UHF RFID reader, and mPOS directly to the device using OtterBox uniVERSE case as well as DeX adaptor or cradle. For users without a need or desire to collect data, the 20pin OUA add the ability to charge their device via a KOAMTAC Charging Cradle or any wireless charger. The 20pin OUA also allows for the addition of KOAMTAC’s 2000mAh Extended Battery for a power boost.

The 20pin OUA is ideal for enterprise businesses with a need for cross-functionality of their mobile devices and retails for $79.00. It is best purchased directly through KOAMTAC sales who can be contacted at sales@koamtac.com.

AIM’s Carlos Tafoya to Present at SMTA Guadalajara Expo & Tech Forum 2019

News Image

AIM Solder, a leading global manufacturer of solder assembly materials for the electronics industry, is pleased to announce that Carlos Tafoya, Technical Support Director, will present the white paper “Weak Organic Acids – Detection and Reliability Assessment” at SMTA Guadalajara, scheduled to take place on October 23-24, 2019 at Expo Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

Weak Organic Acids (WOA) are a common component of no clean liquid flux. These acids provide the cleaning and etching capabilities required to prepare surfaces to accept solder. They are also a source of chemical contamination that can cause electrical and corrosive failures on circuit assemblies. The ability to assess the risk of flux residue after soldering in the production environment is a challenge for assemblers and flux manufacturers alike. In this study the accuracy of common residue extraction methods and a comparison of electrical and soldering performance of common WOAs are performed to illustrate the challenges associated with flux residue assessment as it relates to reliability.

AIM will also highlight its full line of advanced solder materials, including its award-winning REL61™ and REL22™ high reliability alloys and new cored wire solders, RX18 and CX18. To discover all of AIM’s products and services, visit the company at the SMTA Guadalajara Expo & Tech Forum in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico in Stand # 409 for more information and to speak with one of AIM’s knowledgeable staff members.

Unprecedented Resolution for Snapshot Hyperspectral Imaging now available from Bodkin Design

ULTRIS S20

ULTRIS S20

The new Cubert ULTRISTM Hyperspectral Snapshot Camera captures 400×400 spatial pixels with 100 spectral channels in every frame.

Bodkin Design is proud to announce the release of the Cubert ULTRIS™ Snapshot Hyperspectral Imager, the highest resolution Snapshot Hyperspectral Imager available. The camera provides an image resolution of 400×400 spatial pixels with 100 spectral channels, covering a continuous wavelength range from 450nm to 850nm.

Cubert’s new ULTRIS™ camera was developed based on Light Field technology. The camera features an Ultra-HD CMOS 20 MP sensor, lenslet array and continuously variable bandpass filter. During image acquisition the object is recorded with a multitude of images, each with its own optical bandpass filter with different center wavelength. The unparalleled number of 160,000 spectra are acquired simultaneously with this unique optical processor. The 12-bit image sensor makes it possible to detect minute intensity differences in the spectral content while keeping the noise level exceptionally low, and the dual GigE camera interface guarantees an image frame rate of 6 Hz.

A conventional color image has three colors per pixel, but a hyperspectral image can have hundreds. Because every material has a characteristic color signature, this information can be used to identify an object by analyzing its spectra. Unlike more conventional scanned systems, snapshot hyperspectral imaging is ideal for transient events and for observation from moving platforms. The device has no moving components making the system virtually immune to mechanical failure. The unique optical processor provides a fully registered, hyperspectral data-cube on every video frame.

The uses for hyperspectral imaging are rapidly expanding into industrial applications and the commercial research and development space. Snapshot hyperspectral imaging is increasingly being used in agricultural management, biological research, drug detection, environmental monitoring, marine biology, food safety, quality control, mining exploration, leak detection, geologic mapping, medical imaging, cancer screening, and general machine vision applications.

About Hyperspectral imaging at Bodkin Design

“The Imaging System Experts”™

Bodkin Design and Engineering, LLC has been providing hyperspectral imaging equipment since 2003 when it introduced the HyperPixel™ array snapshot hyperspectral imager to the market place. A recognized leader in spectral imaging technology BD&E produces infrared snapshot hyperspectral imagers, multislit scanning spectral imagers, infrared imagers and polarimetric imagers. RTB House Launches New Dynamic Ad Banner Creatives Called Snippet Ads™

News Image

New Snippet Ad invented by RTB House

“The future of marketing is personalized creative that’s hyper-relevant and dynamic, even for users that have not previously been to a website,” said Gary Burtka, VP of U.S. Operations at RTB House

RTB House, a global company that provides state-of-the-art marketing solutions for top brands worldwide, today announced the general availability of new highly effective, dynamic ad banner creatives called Snippet Ads™. They were developed and tested by its AI Marketing Lab and Creatives Lab, separate units focused on leading innovation for martech solutions. The general idea behind Snippet Ads is to increase the efficiency of prospecting campaigns.

RTB House, known for its ad-buying engine that is 100 percent powered by deep learning AI, has recently expanded its offerings to provide broader marketing solutions across the many global regions it serves for clients such as Adidas, Sephora, Trivago and O2.

Snippet Ads provide many of the benefits of dynamic creative optimization (DCO) including personalized messaging at scale by combining creativity and data for maximum impact. Provided in the form of a short HTML code and available “off-the-shelf” in various designs tailored to specific customers’ sectors with the ability to customize and test different messages, they’ve been proven to deliver 2x to 3.5x higher click-through rates (CTR) vs. static banners in A/B tests.

Based on beta customer feedback, RTB House’s labs have designed Snippet Ads to tackle many of the challenges marketers currently face with online display campaigns that now account for half of total media ad spending worldwide in 2019, per eMarketer.

“Those core challenges for marketers include a lack of personalization and differentiation that can cause banner fatigue, decreased user engagement and the fact that creatives with single, static offers often miss the mark with consumers,” said Gary Burtka, VP of U.S. operations at RTB House. “The future of marketing is personalized creative that’s hyper-relevant and dynamic, even for users that have not previously been to a website.”

Snippet Ads are especially effective at reaching new buyers, and RTB House’s deep learning algorithms power the personalization engine based on online users’ behaviors or fast insights through examination of page context (URL) and content in the main domain or subdomains.

“With the combination of deep learning and RTB House’s proprietary creative development process, we are confident that our new DCO solution is a game-changer,” said Burtka.

Prior to today’s launch, RTB House’s labs tested Snippet Ads across multiple use-cases including airlines, automotive and electronics manufacturers, classifieds, fashion brands, and online travel agency reservation platforms. Participating beta customers sought to avoid generic banner templates that deliver little branding impact and in some instances can affect brand perception negatively.

One beta customer was a major, worldwide automotive company. For the customer, RTB House conducted A/B tests to compare Snippet Ads versus the customer’s traditional static banners. The tests were run via two sections of two of the company’s websites. The initial test was for a five-day campaign period, while the second was a typical one-day campaign.

Due to the well-designed advertising strategy and the high quality of proposed banners, users on both sites that interacted with the Snippet Ads were more willing to click through specific offers which led to better performance results overall. More specifically, the CTR for Snippet Ads was almost 3.5 times better than the CTR for traditional static banners.

Snippet Ads can be used in a variety of ways by clients who have direct deals with publishers, advertisers or agencies buying ad inventory using DSPs and AdServers. Instead, RTB House is supplying its new creative display solutions and allowing clients to use them to drive the best possible results for their campaigns.

About RTB House:

RTB House is a global company that provides state-of-the-art marketing technologies for top brands worldwide. Its proprietary ad-buying engine is the first and only in the world to be powered entirely by deep learning algorithms, enabling advertisers to generate outstanding results and reach their short, mid and long-term goals.

Founded in 2012, the RTB House team is comprised of 500+ specialists in more than 30 locations across the globe: New York, London, Tokyo, Singapore, São Paulo, Moscow, Istanbul, Dubai and Warsaw. It serves campaigns for more than 1,600 clients across EMEA, APAC and the Americas regions.

In 2018, after successfully deploying deep learning into 100 percent of its algorithms, RTB House developed two divisions, independent from its R&D team, focused on leading innovation for MarTech solutions. The AI Marketing Lab provides an environment for inventing and advancing MarTech products. In addition, the Creatives Lab investigates and improves the overall performance of creatives, as well as developing support for formats like dynamic display and video creatives that can be ultra-tailored to a client’s specific branding needs.
