GameBench launches first ever touch latency benchmark for mobile gaming

Whether you’re a device manufacturer or a game developer, performance is key to your users’ experience. GameBench continues to lead the charge on delivering solutions for the gaming ecosystem. Our creation of the touch latency benchmark is just the latest contribution to the community.

GameBench, an industry leader in providing mobile performance testing solutions, is proud to announce that it has launched the mobile industry’s very first touch latency benchmark.

GameBench provides end-to-end performance testing tools and professional services to a wide range of game studios and smartphone manufacturers.

Alongside frame rates, load times, power consumption and other metrics assessed by GameBench, touch latency is a critical component of user experience because it measures the time taken for a game to respond to the gamer’s input. Low latency will make a game feel responsive and increase the player’s competitiveness, while long latency will make a game feel laggy and harder to control.

GameBench, using its suite of proprietary benchmarking technology and techniques, has based its benchmarks on targets that come from the world of competitive PC and console gaming where expectations for input lag are more established.

The importance of this new metric to device manufacturers was made clear last week when it was used to highlight the performance of the Huawei Mate 30 Series during a major launch event on September 26th.

You can find the full report detailing the results available on GameBench at https://blog.gamebench.net/huawei-mate-30-pro-iphone-11-pro-max-gaming-benchmarks.

The development of the touch latency benchmark is another milestone in GameBench’s mission to become the industry standard for mobile performance testing.

Sri Iyer, CEO GameBench, said:

“Whether you’re a device manufacturer or a game developer, performance is key to your users’ experience. GameBench continues to lead the charge on delivering solutions for the gaming ecosystem. Our creation of the touch latency benchmark is just the latest contribution to the community.”

About GameBench:

GameBench was founded in 2013 and has quickly established itself as a pioneer and leader in the industry for mobile gaming benchmarks. As an independent and neutral platform, GameBench offers a suite of professional-grade tools and services for gaming studios to optimize a game’s performance for any device and conduct competitive analysis. Major mobile manufacturers have come to rely on GameBench to test platform performance. As a result, clients and partners from around the world have used GameBench to perform nearly 54,000 hours of tests and 15,000 games and 6,300 distinct device models.

EyeGuide, a leader in objective, affordable eye tracking for improved wellness, granted patent for visual attention testing without calibration

EyeGuide is poised to deliver Focus to the market as the most affordable, mobile, and fast eye tracking platform for ocular motor testing–Pat Carney, CEO

EyeGuide, a leader in affordable, effective eye tracking solutions since 2011, announces today a key patent granted from the United States Patent and Trade Office. Patent 10,398,301 grants EyeGuide IP for performing a visual attention test on a patient without calibrating pupil position of the patient.

“This is a critical next step in eye tracking technology, and something we’ve been building toward for a number of years,” said Dr. Brian Still, Founder and Chief Science Officer for EyeGuide. “Most eye tracking systems require lengthy calibration processes. They are also further reliant on bulky hardware, so in most cases it just isn’t possible for them to deliver reliable eye tracking test results in environments, such as on the sidelines of sporting events, where speed, and mobility, are of paramount importance. Our intention with Focus is to change all this, making objective, actionable eye tracking testing available anywhere, at any time. Our new patent adds to a rich portfolio of IP that will allow us to do that.”

Presently, EyeGuide is bringing to market Focus, a complete hardware and software solution that employs a 10-second visual attention test to assess fatigue and other wellness issues. Built on validated science, refined through more than 12,000 user tests, Focus is highly mobile, easy to deploy and test in any setting. Further, it is coupled with an Apple iPad to optimize the user experience, and it makes use of the “calibrationless” IP protected in this new patent to generate results faster than any competitor offering.

Dr. Catherine Ronaghan, a board certified surgeon and associate professor at TTUHSC, led a team that conducted 61 visual tracking tests of 21 surgeons using EyeGuide’s Focus system. Surgical participants were tested at the beginning and end of both 12-hour and 24-hour shifts, and then results were compared.

Ronaghan’s team learned that there was almost no change in visual attention for surgeons tested before and at the end of a 12-hour shift, even when that shift occurred overnight. However, visual attention dropped significantly after a 24-hour stretch of work, suggesting the possibility that fatigue, due to the longer time on-call, may be a cause of visual attention impairment.

“We saw in our study’s population a drop of almost two full grades, -1.8 (SD 1.6) after 24-hour in-house trauma and acute care surgery call,” according to Ronaghan. “That’s significant,” she continues, “and for obvious reasons. Visual attention is critical for surgical effectiveness.”

Dr. Sharmila Dissanaike, Chair of the Department of Surgery at TTUHSC, notes that Dr. Ronaghan’s trial study is part of an ongoing departmental effort to investigate how to provide the best patient outcomes, while preserving the wellness of surgeons and other healthcare providers. All trauma and emergency general surgery surgeons in the department have now transitioned to 12-hour shifts instead of the traditional 24 hours, although the 24-hour model remains the standard at most trauma centers across the country. Anecdotally, the surgeons report improved well-being since the transition last year, lending credence to the findings from Dr. Ronaghan’s study.

“EyeGuide is poised to deliver Focus to the market as the most affordable, mobile, and fast eye tracking platform for ocular motor testing,” said Pat Carney, CEO. “Right now we see Focus as an ideal solution for a wide range of users to rely on for understanding how fatigue impacts performance in work or play. Focus is also a great tool for charting overall wellness, even improving visual attention.”

EyeGuide Inc, based in Philadelphia, PA USA, is the maker of Focus, a SOFAST™ (Simple, Objective, Fast, Affordable, Status Tracking) tool intended to replace the finger test for ocular motor function. Focus captures 1200 data points on eye movement in just 10 seconds, enabling you to capture, chart, and analyze objective data to better understand your overall wellness. Gear Focus – The Better Way to Buy & Sell Camera Gear Online

Gear Focus Online Marketplace for Photographers and Videographers

The Online Marketplace for Photographers and Videographers

We started Gear Focus with a single goal in mind: solve the problems we have experienced with buying and selling camera gear online. To do this, we had to dive into what makes it so difficult.

A passionate team of visual artists is excited to launch the fresh, highly anticipated online marketplace for buying and selling new and used camera gear: Gear Focus!

“We started Gear Focus with a single goal in mind: solve the problems we have experienced with buying and selling camera gear online. To do this, we had to dive into what makes it so difficult.”

First and foremost, the team behind Gear Focus is comprised of creatives. They are photographers, videographers, filmmakers, and people who share stories with a lens. Because of this, they have all been exactly where you are now: sitting in front of a computer screen looking for a way to buy and sell gear without scammers, unmotivated buyers, and overpriced listings.

Fortunately, the Gear Focus team has created a place for people like you.

“We at Gear Focus have set ourselves a challenge: make it the best. We’re making a site for people like us, and people like us won’t stand for anything less than an awesome experience.”

With the lowest seller fees of any online marketplace and a focused community of photographers and videographers, Gear Focus makes it possible to safely and quickly buy and sell your new and used camera equipment. Selling is a breeze, and Gear Focus won’t collect a cent in seller fees until your item sells. Their site will help you price your gear and sell it to a focused market of people exactly like you.

One of the Gear Focus team’s biggest pet peeves is paying to make money. So their first resolution was to minimize fees as much as possible to get you more for your gear.

There are no subscriptions, no up front costs, and absolutely no irrelevant listings like armoires for sale by “Aunt Betty” like some other online marketplaces. Gear Focus puts your gear in front of people who actually know what it’s worth, making this site a step above the competition.

Technology in photography and videography is evolving at an astonishing rate. Novice and professional photographers and filmmakers are constantly upgrading to the latest, most advanced gear. Gear Focus allows them to stay up-to-date with the photo and video gear they need to achieve their vision, without losing enormous value on the equipment they no longer need.

By reducing fees and offering a more focused platform, with enhanced information about accurate gear values, photographers and videographers are able to get fair market value for their used equipment, allowing them to continue pursuing their passion while helping to reduce the financial strain. Not to mention anyone that has an old camera laying around but has no idea what it’s worth can get it into the hands of someone who will use it (and make a few bucks along the way.)

Gearfocus.com charges a 3.5% commission fee to the seller as well as a small percent for credit card processing. (PayPal charges a separate fee for their service – Gear Focus charges nothing extra for PayPal transactions.) Currently photographers and videographers are limited when selling their equipment locally which has an extremely limited reach. Auction-based websites have fees as high as 10%, and big corporations can leave sellers with as little as 30-40¢ on the dollar.

Gear Focus is currently working on and will be releasing soon both iPhone and Android apps, which include the site’s main features as well as mobile-specific features. Features include help for both buyers and sellers in achieving quick gear sales as well as tracking of photography and videography gear for which they are searching.

Their site is easy to navigate and makes buying and selling simple. No hidden fees, no fine print. Buyers can give open, honest feedback, browse gear by brand and type, and find the hottest listings from sellers nationwide. Whether you’re just starting out, or looking to improve your kit, Gear Focus has something for everyone.

This is truly a site that wants to see you grow and succeed as an artist. Your passion as a visual artist fuels your trade, and Gear Focus can be your partner for new and improved gear. And to celebrate the launch of their new site, Gear Focus is offering zero seller fees until October 31! If you were on the fence about giving it a try, you now have absolutely nothing to lose.

Biostrap launches new training concept, BioGym by Biostrap in Denmark

Biostrap, a Los Angeles-based next generation wearable health platform, goes global and launches BioGym by Biostrap integrating personal training with data analysis to create a highly individualized approach to help clients reach their health and fitness goals. The first BioGym opens in Herning, Denmark on October 5.

According to a 2016 study of the World Health Organization, more than 1.9 billion adults were overweight. Of these, over 650 million were obese. Additionally, the National Institute of Health estimates that more than two in three adults are considered to be overweight or have obesity.

Most of those people not only have a hard time losing weight but have tried countless of medications and approaches to better their health, yet they saw little to no improvements along the way.

“We want to help people and be there for them. Nobody chooses to become overweight, but it’s a disease many develop over time and 70% of it is in genetics,” Willem Gielen, cardiologist and CEO of Biostrap Europe said. “This new approach of personal training using Biostrap allows us to work full-circle, 360 degrees, on people and see direct feedback on how they progress and if the program is working or not.”

BioGym clients use Biostrap’s wristband, shoe pod and heart rate monitor during workouts to accurately track each exercise and movement along real-time heart rate and heart rate variability (HRV). Then at night, they wear the wristband during sleep, so their personal trainer can monitor their sleep metrics and recovery rate remotely through the Biostrap platform.

Elias Arjan, Vice President of Strategic Development at Biostrap, said that after months of discussions with personal trainers and fitness professionals, their team have been adapting the Biostrap platform to meet those professionals’ needs.

“We have already included a variety of assessments to validate power, balance and reactive strength index,” he said. “This is in addition to our remote coaching dashboard that launched earlier in 2019.”

Kenneth Lund, BioGym trainer, said that seeing the data of each client made him more conscious and compassionate to how he structures the training for the day.

“I see exactly how their physiology is and how much their body recovered overnight,” Kenneth said. “I don’t only get feedback based on how the clients feel, but I can see factual data on their level of stress, sleep quality and recovery.”

To test how well BioGym could transform lives, Willem and Kenneth ran a trial group for 15 obese and overweight individuals who have tried everything to lose weight but found nothing to bring lasting results. They provided an individualized data-driven training plan, dietary advice and personalized coaching.

Getting direct feedback on personal data helps not only the trainer but the clients as well. The trainer would contact them each morning after looking at their biometrics.

“It’s a bit of a trial and error with everyone, but the data gives us feedback if it works or not. It’s very motivating for participants to see if it works,” Willem said. “Early in the training, the weight maybe not be going down right away, but they can see they sleep well, their HRV is going up and heart rate going down, which are all indications that their body is improving, responding and healing. They’re more likely to stay motivated.”

Tina Rosendal, 47, said she had tried quite a few different things but with no luck. Seeing the BioGym opportunity she thought it was the right way for her.

“A year ago, I was so overwhelmed by stress and anxiety that I didn’t want to live anymore,” Tina said.

When she started with BioGym by Biostrap she weighed 225 pounds, had injuries, disc prolapse, osteoarthritis, nerve pain, concussion after an accident and her physical condition was very poor. In less than half a year, her life took a sharp turn for the better and Biostrap helps her continuing on that health journey.

“After 5 months I lost 55 pounds, my physical condition has improved, and to say the least, I feel alive again,” Tina said. “Biostrap has changed everything for me, it has given me a routine and a way of holding on that I couldn’t find anywhere else. The process has given me strength and belief that I can achieve things in life that I thought were impossible, the security of the professional people behind BioGym by Biostrap has strengthened me.”

Elias added: “Going forward, we have added some premier exercise physiologists to our advisory board to assist our team to design a comprehensive biometric-based client management platform for gyms and trainers. The first BioGym may be launching in Denmark, but it definitely won’t be the last.”

About BioGym by Biostrap

BioGym by Biostrap is a highly personalized, data-driven approach to training and helping individuals reach their health and fitness goals. It utilizes specific and accurate biometrics using the Biostrap wearable health platform (wristband, shoe pod, heart rate monitor) to monitor and track heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, blood oxygen saturation and movement. Having access to that data, the BioGym trainer can structure the workouts specifically to the individual’s current physiological state, including stress levels, sleep quality and recovery rate. As a result, both the trainer and the client get direct feedback on how the body responds to the program and whether it is working or not.

About Biostrap

Biostrap is a Los Angeles-based next generation wearable health platform providing clinical-grade biometrics and actionable data to improve sleep, recovery and performance. Gathering data through clinical-grade sensory methods, it utilizes machine learning to provide information to consumers and health and fitness professionals.

The different biometrics measured are heart rate variability, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood oxygen saturation, sleep analysis and more than a 100 activities and exercises. Plus, the newly launched armband heart rate monitor tracks real-time heart rate variability, while the shoe pod can track body movements, cadence, repetitions and velocity.
