RJ Young Named Trusted Strategic Partner of Office Technology and Equipment for Florida State University

This large enterprise deal brings RJ Young together with one of the largest universities in the state of Florida. This is a huge opportunity for the company & on behalf of the entire RJ Young team, we are proud to call Florida State University a part of our family, said President & CEO, Chip Crunk.

RJ Young is pleased to announce its newest multimillion-dollar partnership with Florida State University, one of Florida’s preeminent universities. In early 2019, RJ Young was named the trusted strategic provider of office technology and equipment for Florida State University.

Florida State University has over 42,000 enrolled students and employs close to 10,000 people in the state of Florida. The main campus sits on 485 acres in the middle of Tallahassee and has an operating budget of over $1.9 billion.

In early 2018, Florida State University issued an Invitation to Negotiate (ITN) seeking a new provider for its office equipment needs for its main campus as well as additional locations around the state. At that time, RJ Young, with help from Ricoh, assembled a team of sales, service, and operational leaders to prepare a bid that embodied a long-term partnership, cost savings, and custom solutions for the issues faced by an organization of this size. After a year of planning, meetings, and negotiating, Florida State University announced it would be entering into a new agreement with RJ Young.

Currently, RJ Young is near completion of the installation process of more than 400 Ricoh units throughout the Florida State footprint, including its remote campuses located throughout the state of Florida. RJ Young is also providing solutions to assist Florida State University in monitoring these units for automated supply orders and service calls. The university’s previous supplier contract expired in September 2019; therefore, RJ Young has been hard at work to make sure this transition is as seamless as possible for students and staff.

“This large enterprise deal brings RJ Young together with one of the largest universities in the state of Florida. This is a huge opportunity for the company and on behalf of the entire RJ Young team, we are proud to call Florida State University a part of our family,” said RJ Young President & CEO, Chip Crunk. “The RJ Young team is excited and looking forward to bringing their excellent customer support and service to FSU.”

To accommodate its continued growth, the RJ Young Tallahassee location ramped up with additional employees, a new warehouse, and some new processes to get the job done right. RJ Young looks forward to focusing on the infrastructure and implementation of the plan at Florida State University.

RJ Young is also a proud sponsor of Florida State University Seminoles athletics.

Sunbird® dcTrack® DCIM Operations Dramatically Simplifies Power Capacity Planning

Sunbird Software, the global innovator in data center management software, today announced the general availability of its latest dcTrack® Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) Operations software. Release 7.0.1 further positions Sunbird as the industry standard in second-generation DCIM with a brand-new feature that brings automation to data center power capacity planning.

“The new Auto Power Budget feature enables a radical change in how data center managers plan power capacity,” said Herman Chan, President, Sunbird Software. “Traditional methods lack accuracy and present stranded power, as all instances of a server model are given the same budget value based on the nameplate data. With Release 7.0.1, Sunbird unlocks precious rack capacity as each individual server model instance has a unique budget value that’s automatically set from real-time outlet-measured power readings.”

New Auto Power Budget Feature Automates Data Center Power Capacity Planning

dcTrack Release 7.0.1 introduces the new Auto Power Budget feature. The feature enables data center managers to eliminate stranded power capacity so they can get the most out of their existing capacity. With seamless integration to a multitude of intelligent rack PDUs on the market, Sunbird now automatically updates IT device power budget values based upon customer created policies using live readings from outlet metered rack PDUs. By providing complete monitoring and balancing of critical power resources, Release 7.0.1 helps data center managers ensure that there is sufficient capacity to support the explosion of web service applications without overspending on unneeded capacity while maintaining redundancy to maximize uptime.

“Capacity planning and power monitoring are the top two benefits data center professionals want from DCIM, according to our research,” said Daniel Bizo, Principal Analyst, 451 Research. “Establishing actual power profiles is difficult without a toolset designed for this. Sunbird Software’s ‘Auto Power Budget’ feature, along with metered infrastructure, provides a toolset that automates the calculation of each compute device’s power profile, enabling professionals to more accurately forecast their power needs and save money by getting the most out of their existing power resources.”

Supply Dynamics Named National Champion in US Air Force Sponsored Microelectronics Supply Chain Provenance Challenge

News Image

Our approach was multi-dimensional. It addressed four aspects we figured the judges would be looking for: FORM, FIT, FUNCTION & FLOW. In the end, our 9-person team prevailed over much larger teams from companies like Battelle and KPMG.” Kaitlyn Maybee, Supply Dynamics’ Customer Success Team Lead

Lawmakers and intelligence officials are concerned that their inability to easily track, trace, and inspect devices containing Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) components represents a grave national security risk. To address this problem, the Air Force Research Labs (AFRL) in partnership with AFWERX, launched the Microelectronics Supply Chain Provenance Challenge in January of this year. The goal was to surface ideas, prototypes, and commercial solutions to prove the provenance of microelectronic devices and their suitability for military applications all over the world.

Supply Dynamics and Brunel University London were among 22 companies selected from more than 75 applicants to attend a showcase event in Las Vegas, Nevada in May of this year. “AFWERX hosted one of the most professional and exhilarating events I have ever experienced,” says Supply Dynamics CEO, Trevor Stansbury. “It was like an innovation super collider, bringing the best and brightest minds in supply chain and microelectronics industries together for two days.” At the event, Stansbury met Tony Grichnik, Caterpillar’s former Global Technology Leader in supply chain technologies and a Professor at Brunel University London. Brunel University is an applied engineering and technology university located in Uxbridge on the west side of London. The two organizations joined forces and were one of three teams invited to advance to the demonstration event held last week in Washington DC. Between June and October, using funds provided by AFWERX, the teams worked feverishly to integrate and refine their combined solution.

At the event, the three finalists faced off over two days to see who could deliver what the Airforce Research Laboratory (AFRL) and AFWERX were looking for. The Challenge was co-sponsored by CISCO and NVIDIA – both recognizable titans in the microelectronics industry. On each day, teams were handed an unknown electronic device and told to ascertain the part number and source of every electronic part inside of the device. This would require disassembling, scanning, identifying, and documenting the sources of printed circuit boards, integrated circuits, surface mounted components, and other raw materials. It also included the identification and classification of associated risks (i.e. inventory, multi-source, lifecycle, counterfeit, etc.) and the testing of firmware. At the end of the challenge, the re-assembled device had to demonstrate it could still function as it did before the assessment.

The winning Supply Dynamics/Brunel solution combined the advanced scanning, X-ray, segmentation, and OCR capabilities of Brunel’s HISTEED and VISION technologies with Supply Dynamics’ web-based, multi-enterprise platform, SDX. SDX is currently used by large manufacturing companies in Aerospace, Automotive, Oil and Gas, and Heavy industry to track, trace, classify, and report common raw materials that flow into their products from thousands of

sub-tier suppliers. “Our approach to the challenge was multi-dimensional,” said Kaitlyn Maybee, Customer Success Manager at Supply Dynamics. “It addressed four aspects we figured the judges would be looking for: FORM, FIT, FUNCTION & FLOW. In the end,” she added, “our 9-person team prevailed over much larger teams from companies like Battelle and KPMG.” Alan Bowsher, Senior Enterprise Architect at Supply Dynamics, says, “While the technology each party contributed to the effort was extremely advanced, the chemistry between the teams was terrific too. There was tremendous comradery throughout the process. I don’t think you can overlook that as a decisive factor in our success.”

When asked what’s next for Supply Dynamics and Brunel, Stansbury said, “You know, it’s been a great year. Our core business related to managing common metals, plastics, and fasteners, across an extended enterprise, has grown leaps and bounds and we’re hopeful 2020 will bring more of the same. For example, we signed two new multi-year contracts with aerospace clients in October and are currently fielding three inquiries from major automotive companies. With respect to microelectronics, we are hoping to continue to collaborate with the DOD and to refine, extend, and apply what we have prototyped in a real-world pilot program. In Washington, we were informed that DARPA and AFRL will sponsor a new, multi-year competition that is microelectronics related, and we are hopeful it will afford just the kind of opportunity we are looking for.”

City Theatrical to Launch QolorFLEX Multiverse Dimmers at LDI Show 2019

This expansion of the Multiverse wireless DMX/RDM product line represents the first round of a wide range of products we’re developing that use Multiverse wireless DMX technology. We went from developing primary devices to products that use wireless DMX to make their primary function even better.

City Theatrical will be launching and demonstrating new technology in Booth 435 at the LDI Show 2019 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA from November 22–24, 2019.

Nominated as an LDI Show 2019 Best Debuting Product, City Theatrical’s newest QolorFLEX® 5×2.5A 900MHz/2.4GHz Multiverse® Dimmers will be launching at the show. Available in dual band 900MHz/2.4GHz (P/N 5942) or 2.4GHz band only (P/N 5943), this new product is a constant voltage, five-output dimmer that can be controlled wirelessly with Multiverse wireless DMX/RDM technology or with wired DMX. The QolorFLEX 5×2.5A Multiverse Dimmer provides 20-bit PWM resolution and 16-bit or 8-bit control for extremely smooth dimming at the low end of the dimming curve. It uses detachable input and output connectors to make wiring easy. Configuration is performed using RDM, such as with a DMXcat® Multi Function Test Tool, with no DIP Switches. This dimmer is designed and built in the USA by City Theatrical in Carlstadt, New Jersey and pairs perfectly with QolorFLEX 5-in-1 LED Tape for ideal use in props and costumes, or for areas where space is a concern.

City Theatrical will also be presenting new QolorFLEX 2×2.5A Multiverse Dimmers and Multiverse Receiver Cards at the LDI Show 2019. The QolorFLEX 2×2.5A Multiverse Dimmers (P/N 5916 for 2.4GHz band or P/N 5917 for 900MHz band) are tiny two-channel low voltage dimmers, each with a Multiverse wireless DMX receiver built in. These receiver/dimmers are designed to be mounted in the smallest spaces, such as props, costumes, wands, and candles.

While Multiverse Modules are circuit board mounted devices used by professional lighting manufacturers, City Theatrical’s new Multiverse Receiver Cards are products that anyone can use to implement wireless DMX/RDM into their projects or equipment in a simple way. Multiverse Receiver Cards (P/N 5906 for 2.4GHz band or 5907 for 900MHz band) are full Multiverse receivers without the housing, XLR connectors, and user interface as used in wireless DMX receiving products like Multiverse Node and Multiverse SHoW Baby.
