Gemini Exchange and IRA Financial Launch New Digital Solution for Buying Crypto

Gemini Exchange releases digital solution for crypto investors

Gemini Exchange releases digital solution for crypto investors

It is our strong belief that the best and safest way to purchase Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency with IRA funds is with our digital solution

The fastest growing provider of self-directed retirement plans, IRA Financial, has combined with Gemini Exchange, a leading digital currency exchange and custodian, to allow investors to make cryptocurrency investments directly through the IRA Financial digital retirement app. Investors will be able to buy and sell cryptocurrency without the need of an LLC (Limited Liability Company) or third-party broker-firm. IRA Financial is the first self-directed IRA custodian to do this.

The launch of both company’s digital solution will allow investors to purchase Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency directly via a cryptocurrency exchange without the need for a third-party broker or the use of an LLC. This will bring the cost of investors’ crypto transactions down significantly, as the Individual Retirement Account (IRA) will be opened directly with Gemini Exchange in the name of the IRA. As a result, the investor can trade cryptocurrency with a charge of one percent, far less than the cost associated with a third-party broker.

More importantly, investors can trust Gemini as the licensed and qualified custodian of their cryptocurrency private key.

“It is our strong belief that the best and safest way to purchase Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency with IRA funds is with our digital solution,” said Adam Bergman, President of IRA Financial (IRA Financial Group & IRA Financial Trust Company). “Investors can perform transactions any time and have complete control over their cryptocurrency.”

Investors will also have control over their private keys, a secret number that allows users to access and spend Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency. The private key is also designed to prevent theft and illegal access to crypto funds.

“Our new digital Bitcoin solution will do for IRA cryptocurrency investments what online brokers did for equities,” stated Bergman.

Adam Bergman is a leading voice in the self-directed retirement industry, and the author of seven books on the subject. He launched IRA Financial Trust, a Self-Directed IRA custodian, in 2015 after recognizing that most IRA custodians lacked the requisite expertise and tax knowledge to correctly advise clients, and applied no emphasis on the importance of technology.

More than one third of U.S. online shoppers will likely buy products on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, per new survey from RTB House

New consumer survey supports forecast that U.S. holiday sales will top $1 trillion for first time

“With so many media stories and a blitz of promotions that put everyone in a buying mood over a longer time period, extending special deals so they’re a week-long event vs. a one-day sale can really boost revenues,” said Gary Burtka, VP of U.S. operations at RTB House.

RTB House, a global company that provides state-of-the-art marketing solutions for top brands worldwide, today announced the results of a fresh consumer survey that support a prediction by eMarketer, who predicted that U.S. holiday sales this season will climb to an all-time high of more than $1 trillion.

The RTB House survey found that 38 percent of American consumers are likely to purchase a product online during Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday. Of that group, 62 percent say they’re most likely to shop on Amazon during Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

The results are based off a consumer survey conducted via Google Surveys the week of Nov. 4th, 2019 of 1,000 U.S. consumers.

Other survey findings include:

  • Everyone is mobile, and brands must reach consumers wherever they are, whenever they are there. Of those likely to buy products online during the two-biggest holiday promotion days, customers are evenly split between purchasing on a smartphone (33%) or laptop (32%+), followed by desktop (20%+) and tablet (14%+).

  • Amazon is the clear winner for expected online purchases this year. More than 62 percent of consumers plan to shop on Amazon during Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

  • More than a quarter of shoppers say they’ll be searching for deals and will be ready to buy during Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Nearly 27 percent of consumers are likely to click on an offer via a digital ad and buy the product.

  • Black Friday and Cyber Monday are no longer confined to just a few days, but instead they’re spreading out research and purchases over a longer period. More than 28 percent of consumers start to research products in early November to buy them during Black Friday/Cyber Monday, more than 25 percent the week of Thanksgiving, eight percent the day before and more than 30 percent are online shopping the day of the two biggest holiday promotion days.

“With so many media stories and a blitz of promotions that put everyone in a buying mood over a longer time period, extending special deals so they’re a week-long event vs. a one-day sale can really boost revenues,” said Gary Burtka, VP of U.S. operations at RTB House. “Brands need to play to deal-minded consumers and consider offering them real-time discounts to spur impulse purchases, and they definitely need to go mobile to capture Millennials, who are big holiday spenders. Gen Y has trended up to purchases of more than $400 each since 2017.”

Overall, holiday sales represent about 20 percent of annual retail sales in the U.S., but that figure can be higher for some retailers, per the National Retail Federation. Hobby, toy and game stores report the highest share at about 30 percent.

According to RTB House’s own global data based on thousands of client campaigns, brands see about a 30 percent boost in new customers during Black Friday/Cyber Monday, and sales volumes during the holiday season increase by about 78 percent. Conversion rates from online ad banners also increase by about 3.5X during November because shoppers are ready to buy.

Bodkin Design Introduces Corning Slit-Scan Hyperspectral Imaging to their line of Snapshot Hyperspectral Imagers

Bodkin Design & Engineering now offers Corning imagers!

Bodkin Design & Engineering now offers Corning imagers!

Bodkin Design is at the forefront of hyperspectral imaging technology and a recognized industry leader for spectral imaging needs.

Bodkin Design & Engineering is proud to become a distributor of Corning hyperspectral imagers. The Corning microHSI™ 410 hyperspectral sensor offers the highest sensitivity of all HSIs in the industry. The patented mono-block design immerses the entire optical path in a high index material, allowing much greater through-put than free-space optical systems. The unparalleled sensitivity is a result of this immersed system, increasing sensitivity by the square of the index of refraction. And the solid block is immune to shock and vibration, making it ideal for airborne mapping and continuous web based process control.

Not only does the Corning microHSI™ 410 offer the highest performance, but costs considerably less than competitive devices.

The Corning microHSI™ 410 is available as a standalone sensor, with a scanning platen for laboratory use and as a turn-key package for airborne reconnaissance with software and built-in GPS/INS.

Snapshot HSI is ideal for capturing high speed events or producing video rate data-cubes; by contrast, Slit-Scan HSI produces high resolution maps through airborne platform motion or a scanning mirror or moving conveyer belt.

2019 Holiday Hacking – 5 Ways to Avoid Cyber Attacks While Traveling

Travel Cyber Security Tips, Matrix Integration

“When you travel, there’s always the possibility of leaving your phone somewhere or tapping into an unknown Wi-Fi connection, making your data vulnerable to getting lost or stolen,” said Chris Martin, security expert and solutions architect at Matrix Integration.

With more than 100 million people* on planes, trains and automobiles from Thanksgiving through New Year’s, there are millions of phones to be lost, travelers to hack and gigabytes to be erased. That’s why Matrix Integration, a strategic IT infrastructure partner for more than 1,000 businesses in Indiana and beyond, is offering five critical tips for keeping travelers’ devices and data safe during the holidays.

“When you travel, there’s always the possibility of leaving your phone somewhere or tapping into an unknown Wi-Fi connection, making your data vulnerable to getting lost or stolen,” said Chris Martin, security expert and solutions architect at Matrix Integration. “Unfortunately, there are always people who will take advantage of situations like crowds during the holidays.”

Matrix Integration works with all types of organizations to create security plans to prevent cyberattacks and keep data safe. Many solutions are implemented enterprise-wide, but there are precautions individuals can take to protect themselves.

Matrix Integration’s Top Five Cybersecurity Tips for Holiday Travel

  • Back up everything. Before a trip, take the time to back up critical data. It only takes a few minutes, but can save hours or days if a device is lost or damaged.
  • Patch and protect. Also before leaving: update devices with the most recent operating systems and software. Companies continuously update software with security patches, so the more up-to-date devices are, the less chance they have of getting hacked.
  • Beware of Bluetooth. Bluetooth is a fast and easy way to connect devices, but it can also provide a direct link for smart cybercriminals to access personal information. If possible, disable Bluetooth in busy crowded spaces.
  • No paper passwords. It’s tempting to keep passwords written down, but this makes them easy to steal. Instead, look for well-known password management software. These applications encrypt data, allowing for safe storage of passwords as well as critical-but-sensitive information like passport numbers and financial accounts.
  • Be mindful of surroundings. Crowded travel areas are often a target for traditional criminals as well as digital criminals. Don’t peruse private personal data like bank accounts, or type in passwords that others can see.

If devices are updated and data is backed up, people are much less likely to lose personal, private information while traveling. When it comes to businesses protecting their information, Matrix Integration collaborates with clients to identify their most important assets, come up with a plan to protect and detect those assets, and provide tools to discover and respond to attacks before they can cause damage. Types of solutions include robust identity management systems so passwords are harder to steal, data encryption software, and staff training.

PMF Industries Launches State-Certified Apprenticeship Program

Consortium Meeting for Apprenticeship Program

PMF Industries Launches State-Certified Apprenticeship Program

“We are creating viable career opportunities for young workers who have determined college is not in their plans, and we’re attracting the new, skilled workers we wanted. It’s a win-win!”

There’s a crisis facing the manufacturing industry: the lack of skilled workers. To help combat this challenge locally, PMF Industries, a leading metal’s fabricator specializing in flowforming, combined with other manufacturing processes, based in Williamsport, has established a groundbreaking apprenticeship program.

Working closely with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor, Keystone Development Partnership, and Central PA Workforce Development Council, PMF developed a strong, innovative, state-approved Computer Numerical Control (CNC) program that is discovering—and then delivering—exactly what skilled workers are looking for in today’s career opportunities.

“With an aging workforce, we knew if we didn’t think outside the box and use innovative ideas to attract new skilled workers, we’d be in serious trouble,” said PMF President & General Manager John Perrotto. “We were firm on the idea of establishing an apprenticeship program. But the bigger question was, how would it work? Then we had a breakthrough.”

PMF realized the key was to truly understand the interests and behaviors of their target audience—younger workers. Focused on this, they started to formulate a strategy around the things they knew would resonate with younger workers who might have a stigma against a career in manufacturing: technology, growth opportunity, no student loan debt, and more.

Armed with this insight, PMF developed an apprenticeship consortium with five local high schools that offer Career & Technology Center (CTC) Programs: Williamsport High School, Jersey Shore High School, Keystone Central, Sun Area Tech in New Berlin, and CPI in Bellefonte. Other Williamsport area manufacturers have since joined the effort.

The Program

Currently, eight apprentices are actively participating in the CNC apprenticeship program. These young people are earning while learning, and the educational aspect doesn’t cost them a dime.

The breakdown of the 3-year program for the participants:

  • 2000 hours of paid, on-the-job training per year
  • 144 hours (1 evening per week) of classroom instruction per year
  • No educational costs for the student

Upon completion of the state-certified program, the apprentices earn the following:

  • Three years of bonified work experience
  • Earning a good wage with great benefits
  • No student debt
  • A state-certified Journeyman designation

“This program offers quite a positive leap into adulthood,” said PMF Executive Vice President & Director of Engineering Ken Healy. “We are creating viable career opportunities for young workers who have determined college is not in their plans, and we’re attracting the new workers we wanted. It’s a real win-win.”

For more information contact Sam Shea at SamS@pmfind.com. Or visit the PMF website: https://www.pmfind.com/about/pmf-launches-a-state-certified-apprenticeship-program.

Balluff Improves Delivery Time of Cables Through Local Production

News Image

Balluff has improved its delivery time of made-to-order cables and connectivity products. Most of the sensor cable portfolio is now available in 5 days or less. This includes nearly all the single- and double-ended M8 and M12 sensor cable portfolio, plus power cables, Ethernet cables, and valve connector cables, as well as field-attachable connectors, bulkhead connectors, receptacles, adapters and terminating resistors, T-splitters and Y-splitters.

The expedited delivery is due, in part, to the establishment of a Florence, Kentucky connectivity cell which allows the company to better meet customers’ changing cable needs. Moving production to the Kentucky location, versus shipping all cable products from an overseas Balluff production site, allows the company to provide faster delivery to customers who rely on quick turnaround times to minimize downtime and maximize efficiencies.

“Choosing the right tools is vital to decrease downtime and avoid unnecessary maintenance in all industries; choosing the proper cable can be the lynchpin to a successful application,” said Will Healy, Balluff industry marketing director.

Balluff’s cable portfolio is tailored to meet a wide variety of industries and applications including welding, stamping, food & beverage, and general automation. The portfolio includes features such as consistent and accurate IP ratings, a wide range of cable jackets (TPE, PVC and PUR), a full range of overmold configurations, and high-quality rugged materials.
