Boeing Selects VT MAK and Antycip Simulation to Provide Core Technology for the Defence Operational Training Capability (Air) Core System and Services Contract

We look forward to working with Boeing and Antycip Simulation to deliver a comprehensive networked training capability to the Royal Air Force.

ST Engineering today announced that Boeing Defence UK has chosen the simulation and visualization software of its subsidiaries VT MAK and Antycip Simulation as core components of its Defence Operational Training Capability (Air) (DOTC A)) Core System and Services (DCS&S) contract.

Based on the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) requirements, VT MAK and Antycip Simulation will deliver and support commercial off the shelf (COTS) products that get capabilities into the hands of customers as early as possible, while incrementally adding new capabilities.

Bill Cole, President and CEO of VT MAK, said, “VT MAK is excited to have been awarded this crucial contract by Boeing Defence UK. We look forward to working with Boeing and Antycip Simulation to deliver a comprehensive networked training capability to the Royal Air Force. This win, along with our recent U.S. Army Synthetic Training Environment (STE) award, firmly positions VT MAK as the leader in providing COTS products for distributed simulation in both the air and land domains.”

Michael Pronier, CEO of Antycip Simulation, added, “Antycip Simulation is thrilled to have been awarded this important contract by Boeing Defence UK. It builds on our established heritage and leadership in the European simulation community, itself built in no small part on the quality, range and capability of VT MAK’s products. The Antycip team is already working hard on delivery for Boeing UK and the Royal Air Force.”

The DCS&S contract will see the creation of Gladiator, a capability that will support multiple complex training scenarios, simultaneously and independently of each other. The system will allow personnel at different sites to train together in their own high-fidelity simulators, linked by a secure network to a new hub at RAF Waddington.

The system will securely manage training events across locations and classification levels, allowing RAF crews to experience the same battle environment and threats, including joint training with their counterparts in the U.S..

MAK products provide off-the-shelf functionality, ease-of-use, open architecture, modularity, and support for open standards. Antycip Simulation will customize, enhance, deliver and support MAK COTS products for DCS&S. High fidelity flight and electronic warfare models will be integrated into VR-Forces by VT MAK and Antycip partner, RTDynamics. VR-Forces, VR-Vantage, and VR-Engage will become the DCS&S Common Computer Generated Forces, Common Image Generator, and Common Role Players, and will be the primary tools to support the exercise preparation and execution of DOTC (A) exercises managed by Boeing and the Inzpire White Force.

VT MAK to Exhibit MAK ONE, a Synthetic Training Environment at I/ITSEC

We are proud to show I/ITSEC attendees the power of MAK software in every domain — land, sea, air and space.”

VT MAK, a company of ST Engineering North America, today announced the demonstration of a synthetic training environment composed of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software from the MAK ONE suite at I/ITSEC 2019 from 2 to 5 December 2019. The demonstration will highlight the flexible capability of MAK simulation products in meeting requirements of a large variety of training systems in all domains. Taking place at VT MAK’s booth (#1322), the demonstration will enable attendees to participate in a tactical exercise and learn the modularity and comprehensiveness of the MAK ONE platform.

This year, MAK ONE was selected by the U.S. Army as a best-of-breed technology to meet the operational requirements of the Synthetic Training Environment (STE) Common Synthetic Environment (CSE). It was also selected by Boeing Defence UK as a core technology for the Defence Operational Training Capability (Air) (DOTC(A)) Core System and Services (DCS&S) contract. These examples illustrate two very different ways that MAK ONE can be integrated into a customer’s solution — the applications can be used directly as system components or the core technologies can be integrated to build custom applications within the customer’s specific architecture.

“I am happy to see such a wide variety of customers choosing the MAK ONE platform for its capabilities, performance, and scale,” said Bill Cole, President and CEO of VT MAK. “We are proud to show I/ITSEC attendees the power of MAK software in every domain — land, sea, air and space.”

The MAK ONE demonstration at I/ITSEC will include the ability to cohesively set up and manage the training scenario, simulate all the training roles, as well as record and present the results. VR-Engage, VT MAK’s multi-role virtual simulator, will have a central role in the integrated training system. It will be used to play first-person roles of Driver, Gunner, Dismounted Soldier, Commander, Pilot, and Sensor Operator.

VT MAK will be demonstrating performance advancements, improved scalability, and new capabilities developed this year across their product suite at six different stations. The MAK ONE suite is also hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to illustrate the accessibility of MAK products through cloud deployment. New scalability prototypes that pave the way to simulations with a million entities will also be showcased. VR-Vantage IG will be running on a large screen that will display the latest, most vivid scenes from VR-Vantage IG, as well as support for the latest Common Image Generator Interface protocol and host control. The VR-Engage station will feature a demonstration of VT MAK’s support for head mounted displays, so visitors can learn how VR-Vantage and VR-Engage facilitate users in developing Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality applications.

VT MAK will be holding a seminar on Tuesday, 3 December from 9-11 am at the Rosen Center, Salon 1. Danny Williams will discuss VT MAK’s participation in the CSE portion of the US Army’s STE program, while Pete Swan will describe how MAK ONE will be used in the UK MOD’s DCS&S project. Next, VT MAK’s Vice President of Products, Jim Kogler, will share what VT MAK has accomplished this year as well as what is in store for the future.

Danny Williams will be presenting at the Innovation Showcase on Wednesday, 4 December, at 9:30 am. The subject of his talk will be MAK ONE, and how its capabilities and architecture are used as a foundation to meet the needs of the U.S. Army’s STE CSE.

“Voice of the Workplace” Pulse from NCHRA and Waggl Points to a Gap in the Use of Technology to Increase Employee Engagement

Infographic from the Voice of the Workplace Pulse

Using Waggl’s transparent engagement platform, thousands of HR professionals from organizations of all sizes, including attendees of NCHRA’s HRTechXpo 2019, were invited to participate in the Voice of

“Although technology is no substitute for one-to-one human interaction, it can be beneficial for boosting employee engagement and performance by giving everyone in the organization a voice,” said Alex Kinnebrew, Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Growth Strategy, Waggl.

The Next Concept Human Resource Association (NCHRA), and Waggl, the leading platform for real-time feedback powered by Employee Voice, today released their newest “Voice of the Workplace” pulse on the subject of technology and engagement.

Using Waggl’s transparent engagement platform, thousands of HR professionals from organizations of all sizes, including attendees of NCHRA’s HRTechXpo 2019, were invited to participate in the pulse from August 1-October 1, 2019. Of those who participated, 92% agreed with the following statement: “I would like my organization to create a strong internal culture that impacts results.” In addition, another 81% agreed with the statement, “If my organization invested in people-focused programs and skills such as onboarding, performance, and employee engagement, we would have a more positive impact on revenues and profit margins.” By way of contrast, only 45% of participants agreed with this statement: “My organization is using technology to improve employee engagement.”

“In Northern California, where NCHRA and Waggl are based, we have a technology-driven economy in which many companies are subject to rapid growth and disruption” said Lisa Hickey, Vice President of Professional Development, NCHRA. “Given the volatility of the business climate, it’s not surprising that the vast majority of our members want their organizations to create strong internal cultures that are agile and resilient enough to withstand constant change. Given that backdrop, we are a bit surprised that only 45% of members say that their organizations are currently using technology to improve employee engagement.”

NCHRA and Waggl also posed the open-ended question, “Do you view employee use of social media and gamification platforms as tools to increase employee engagement?” Crowdsourced responses were distilled into a ranked list. Here are the top three responses:

  • “I think both those tools can be beneficial, but it also needs to be based on the type of company, demographics and how agreeable employees are to change or something new.”
  • “Yes, creating a community online and showing off our team and company culture not only makes the work environment feel comfortable but also attracts others to want to know what our ‘secret sauce’ is that makes working for our company the best.”
  • “Social media interaction used for employee engagement is a positive. Gamification of interaction could also have a positive impact as long as it is not viewed as a nuisance and a distraction from accomplishing job tasks.”

Waggl is a real-time engagement platform that goes beyond measurement to catalyze authentic dialogue and alignment around critical business topics: Culture, Experience, Vision and Execution. Waggl elevates Employee Voice to deliver actionable insight, fresh perspective, and tangible knowledge to leaders and teams.

“From the responses to this pulse, it’s clear that HR practitioners recognize the value of creating a strong internal culture, and want their organizations to invest in people-focused programs and skills,” said Alex Kinnebrew, Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Growth Strategy, Waggl. “Although technology is no substitute for one-to-one human interaction, it can be beneficial for boosting employee engagement and performance by giving everyone in the organization a voice. In order for employees to be truly engaged, they need to feel free to express their ideas, share their knowledge and know that their opinions matter. When organizations give employees an opportunity to participate in the dialogue about topics that matter (e.g. culture, experience, vision and execution), they feel more connected to the workplace and empowered to drive change.”

CAP-XX acquires Murata’s supercapacitor production lines, will produce Murata’s three supercapacitor families and serve its customers from Sydney

CAP-XX to maintain Murata’s existing pricing on the small, thin DMF, DMT and DMH supercapacitor product families.

We look forward to serving Murata’s customers and are committed to providing the same high quality, low cost products that they enjoy today,” said Anthony Kongats, CAP-XX CEO.

CAP-XX (LSE:CPX), a leader in supercapacitors that deliver peak power to support or replace batteries, today announced it will acquire CAP-XX licensee Murata’s supercapacitor production lines, relocate them from Japan to a new factory in Sydney to arrive in stages between March and June 2020, and begin producing Murata’s three supercapacitor product families in Q3 2020. Murata will also assist in introducing CAP-XX to its customers.

Murata licensed CAP-XX’s patents in 2008, began production of supercapacitors in Japan in 2013, and has since significantly built its supercapacitor business. After a strategic review of its business in 2018, Murata informed CAP-XX that it wanted to focus on its multilayer ceramic capacitors and lithium batteries, and exit some of its non-core business lines including supercapacitors. Consequently, the two companies reached agreement for CAP-XX to acquire Murata’s high-quality production lines. The companies have been working together for over 12 months to ensure the successful relocation of these production lines, and for CAP-XX to be able to produce supercapacitors that are identical to what Murata makes today, guaranteeing customers a continuity of supply.

CAP-XX considers this a compelling opportunity to acquire modern, state-of-the-art production equipment from manufacturing expert Murata, whose production lines are newer, more efficient and have far greater capacity than CAP-XX’s own. The company expects the acquisition to both increase its sales and reduce its direct production costs.

Murata is building enough inventory to satisfy the needs of customers during the interim after ceasing production in Q1 2020 until CAP-XX recommences shipments using the production lines in Q3 2020.

CAP-XX plans to maintain Murata’s existing pricing on Murata’s small, thin DMF, DMT and DMH supercapacitor product families:

  •     DMT is a high-power, ultra-long life, high temperature supercapacitor suited for extreme applications such as solid-state drives and automotive applications. Due to its thinness, it can be assembled onto printed circuit boards (PCBs).
  •     DMF is a general purpose, very high power, long life supercapacitor that has very low ESR and a wider operating voltage range. It is suitable for high brightness LED flash, high-power audio, smart meters and more. It, too, can be assembled onto PCBs.
  •     DMH is an ultra-thin 0.4mm supercapacitor suited for smart phones, smart credit cards, wearables, 3V coin cell battery applications and other very thin IOT applications.

“We look forward to serving Murata’s customers and are committed to providing the same high quality, low cost products that they enjoy today,” said Anthony Kongats, CAP-XX CEO.

About CAP-XX supercapacitors:

CAP-XX supercapacitors support power requirements including wireless communication (Bluetooth, Bluetooth Smart, Zigbee, Z-Wave, Ant, active RFID), electronic paper and OLED displays, haptic or tactile feedback, vibration alerts, GPS acquisition, and injection or inhalation system delivery. The supercapacitors work with thin-film, solid-state, and other low-power batteries such as coin cells/button cells, energy harvesting modules (solar, vibration/kinetic, RF, and other ambient energy sources), as well as inductive/wireless and cable/cradle fast-charging systems.

About CAP-XX

CAP-XX (LSE:CPX) is a world leader in the design and manufacture of small supercapacitors and energy management systems used in portable and small-scale electronic devices, and large supercapacitor-based modules used in automotive and renewable energy applications. The unique feature of CAP-XX supercapacitors is their very high power density and high-energy storage capacity in space-efficient thin prismatic and compact cylindrical packages. These attributes are essential in many power-hungry applications. For more information about CAP-XX, visit http://www.cap-xx.com or email sales@cap-xx.com.

MaxQ AI Expands Partnership with GE Healthcare’s PACS Solution

MaxQ AI

To deliver on the promise of AI, we are integrating with best-in-breed partners such as MaxQ AI to help streamline the radiologist’s experience, said Michelle Edler, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Imaging & Care Area Solutions for GE Healthcare

MaxQ AI, the industry-leading medical diagnostic AI company, today announced that the company’s Accipio intracranial hemorrhage (ICH), stroke, and head trauma platform will be integrated into GE Healthcare’s Edison™ Open AI Orchestrator, which is designed to simplify the deployment of AI for imaging workflows. This addition makes GE Healthcare the first to offer a comprehensive CT and PACS MaxQ AI offering.

A key player in GE Healthcare’s Edison ecosystem, the expansion of MaxQ AI’s Accipio-powered solutions through both the latest PACS and CT offerings will increase access to AI augmented tools for radiologists and care providers around the world to enhance the identification and prioritization of patients suffering from stroke, traumatic brain injury, head trauma, and other life-threatening conditions – both at the CT console and through the distributed review of these images in PACS.

“The ability to integrate our Accipio intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) detection software and slice-level annotation through GE Healthcare’s PACS further solidifies and deepens our successful partnership with GE Healthcare,” said Gene Saragnese, CEO of MaxQ AI. “This will also enable hospitals and acute care providers, who are looking to bring the power of our AI-enabled solutions into their emergency rooms, to seamlessly add these new capabilities into the workflow in the Edison Open AI Orchestrator, a platform for quickly and easily integrating AI-based clinical applications in imaging workflows. Printronix Auto ID Boosts Productivity and Versatility with Introduction of T6000e Thermal RFID Printer Series

T6000e / T6000e RFID

Printronix Auto ID, Inc., a global leader in enterprise grade industrial printing solutions unveiled the new T6000e thermal barcode printer, an enhanced version of its popular T6000 printer series with new features and advanced RFID capabilities. The T6000e sets a new standard for productivity and versatility in fast-paced environments where speed, exceptional print quality and advanced features such as RFID are needed.

“The T6000e is the fourth product Printronix Auto ID has launched in the last 12 months and reflects our continued commitment to the AIDC printer market,” said Andy Edwards, Director of Product Management. “The upgrades to our midrange platform not only include 600 DPI printing but also RFID on both the 4” and 6” models allowing us to offer a solution for emerging wide-web printing and encoding applications. In addition, not only does the T6000e support standard and on-metal RFID labels and tags, but we’ve also significantly optimized the encoding and printing process making it ideal for high volume RFID applications.”

The dual flexibility of being able to encode and print on-metal and standard RFID labels and tags makes it the ideal solution for RFID asset tagging of tools and equipment used in manufacturing, supply chain, IT, healthcare, and service yard industries. On-metal tags typically include a foam insulator and a metal foil backing that makes them incompatible with most standard RFID printer/encoders, but the T6000e was engineered to handle these media with ease. And, because accuracy is critical in every application, the T6000e will back-up and completely overstrike RFID labels that fail to encode properly. The T6000e is also backwards compatible with existing T6000 applications.

Created for the enterprise market, the T6000e is engineered for industrial applications such as manufacturing, automotive, transportation, retail, and logistics. For optimal productivity, the printer offers 14 inches per second print speed, high-quality 600 dpi printing, advanced RFID features, and a complete suite of connectivity options.

Like all Printronix Industrial printers, the T6000e was built on the Printronix System Architecture (PSA) platform that combines exclusive features with a common set of building blocks to simplify printer replacement/installation and improve productivity. The printer comes with nine printer emulations for easy drop-in installation and has a large LCD color screen for easy operation. The T6000e is also available with PrintNet Enterprise, a remote printer management tool.
