AirBox Technologies successfully demonstrates Its AirBox Home technology in Virginia

News Image

AirBox Technologies successfully demonstrates drone delivery into the AirBox Home smart, secure delivery receptacle. The purpose of the demonstration was to highlight secure delivery into a receptacle simulating critical healthcare delivery such as may occur with samples for COVID-19 testing or medication delivery to a patient.

“Medical delivery and healthcare applications for drone delivery are being looked at nationally as a delivery method for critical medications and supplies due to the pandemic. AirBox Home can play an important part in this logistics supply chain and create a secure endpoint for valuable products,” says Dr. Jeremy Tucker an emergency physician and Co-Founder of Drone Delivery Systems. “With COVID-19, we need to leverage the most cutting-edge technologies to help defeat the virus.”

The demonstration was carried out on the vacant campus of St. Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, VA. The Brunswick County facility, which closed to the public in 2013, provided a safe, complex community environment to demonstrate package deliveries by drones under a variety of conditions. Virginia’s Center for Innovative Technology (CIT), DroneUp, UPS, and Workhorse Group carried out extensive testing during the three-day exercise.

AirBox Technologies used it’s DroneX heavy lift drone which is capable of carrying 15 pounds over 6 miles to carry out the demonstration. It was able to perform multiple deliveries without fail in spite of wind gusts to 28 knots that day at the college campus.

Because of COVID-19, in addition to drone delivery, AirBox Home is receiving much interest in helping businesses with contactless delivery during social distancing and stay at home orders. The smart delivery receptacle, accessed with a phone app, can be used in front of a restaurant or business to allow the customer to retrieve their food or products without human interaction. Likewise, senior assisted living centers, nursing homes, and restaurants can immediately benefit from contactless ground courier deliveries. It is the perfect solution for post-delivery package security.

The AirBox Home was developed and is fully manufactured in Virginia. The DroneX which delivered the packages for the demonstration is made in the USA. The AirBox Home is drone agnostic, and the DroneX can carry most types of boxes and does not require specialty containers; although, AirBox Technologies also offers a thermally insulated AirBox Sky.

LINK-GIS Hires Woolpert to Provide New Aerial Mapping of Kentucky Counties

News Image

The use of this data to support local government, businesses and academic activities will show that Northern Kentucky is open for business.

Woolpert has been contracted by the LINK-GIS Partnership, a multi-jurisdictional GIS consortium in northern Kentucky, to provide new digital aerial imagery, lidar and planimetric data, including new hydrologic data, for Kenton and Campbell counties.

The seamless dataset will support the planning and development needs of the consortium’s partners, contributors and clients. These include dozens of cities, courts, universities, businesses, police departments, health districts, fire districts and school districts, as well as the Northern Kentucky Water District and Sanitation District No. 1.

Woolpert Senior Vice President and Market Director Jeff Lovin said the hydrologic data collected under this contract is in line with the U.S. Geological Survey’s National Hydrography Dataset version 2.1, Elevation-derived Hydrography Specifications. The elevation-derived hydrography data will be collected as lines and polygons that form a connected hydrology dataset, which is horizontally and vertically integrated into a lidar-derived elevation surface.

Among its applications, this hydrologic data will be used to map and model the drainage network in this rapidly developing urban area.

“With the Ohio River, a challenging terrain and ever-increasing hardscape, Kenton and Campbell counties generate great volumes of stormwater runoff,” Lovin said. “This data will aid Northern Kentucky Sanitation District No. 1 in managing stormwater runoff.”

Trisha Brush, the GIS director for Planning and Development Services of Kenton County, said LINK-GIS has been around for 35 years and its geospatial data and applications continue to grow.

“With an ever-changing built environment, having current imagery, lidar and planimetric products at our fingertips is a game-changer for economic growth in Northern Kentucky,” Brush said. “This collaborative project supports the LINK-GIS partners by providing the best data possible in order to support and serve the citizens in Kenton and Campbell counties. The use of this data to support local government, businesses and academic activities will show that Northern Kentucky is open for business.”

Woolpert is currently processing this data, which was collected within a two-week window in early March.

“We were contracted late in the season but were able to complete the collection efficiently, flying all of the imagery in one day and all of the lidar in another day to avoid leaf-on conditions,” Lovin said. “We’re honored to work with the LINK-GIS Partnership to support the many robust and forward-thinking GIS and geospatial services they provide.”

Year-Over-Year Spending Grew Across all Digital Advertising Channels in Q1 Despite Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic

News Image

There’s no debate COVID-19 had an impact on digital advertising in Q1, but the impact was mostly limited to March, after which spending has begun to stabilize across channels.

Kenshoo (https://kenshoo.com/), a global leader in marketing technology, today released The Kenshoo Q1 2020 Quarterly Trends Report and an accompanying infographic, detailing Q1 spending in all channels during the unprecedented-in-the-digital-age global COVID-19 pandemic. Social (25%), paid search (1%) and ecommerce advertising (47%) spending all grew year-over-year (YoY).

As the only marketing platform that combines data-driven insights and optimization technology to help make informed decisions, scale and measure performance across all major publishers, Kenshoo identifies the trends shaping each stage of the consumer journey, including the impact of COVID-19:

  • Ecommerce advertising surged in Q1, riding a wave of increased activity in March as shoppers prepared for an enforced stay-at-home lifestyle
  • Computers & Electronics: This category picked up across channels in March as households shored up their electronics to better adjust to spending more time at home both for – – Consumer Packaged Goods: Spending and click-through rate (CTR) increased in March as online shoppers bought personal care items in large quantities, but the lower unit price of these items translated to lower costs-per-click (CPC)
  • Q2 Preview: After an initial decline, total spending for both the paid search and paid social channels leveled off and began growing into the middle of April

Detailed findings on social and paid search advertising performance in Q1, measured on a same-advertiser basis, include:

  • Social spending increased 25% YoY and decreased 18% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ)
  • Social impressions increased 35% YoY and 11% QoQ
  • Social clicks increased 40% YoY and decreased 6% QoQ
  • Social cost-per-thousand (CPM) impressions decreased 7% YoY and 26% QoQ
  • Paid search spending increased 1% YoY and decreased 19% QoQ
  • Paid search impressions increased 5% YoY and decreased 20% QoQ
  • Paid search clicks increased 4% YoY and decreased 13% QoQ
  • Paid search CPC decreased 3% YoY and increased 7% QoQ

“There’s no debate COVID-19 had an impact on digital advertising in Q1, but the impact was mostly limited to March, after which spending has begun to stabilize across channels,” said Chris Costello, senior director of marketing research for Kenshoo. “While recovery will vary by industry category, April spending growth in both paid search and social indicates a recovery is already underway for many categories. Ecommerce advertising’s growth indicates the valuable role of major online retailers like Amazon and Walmart are playing for both consumers and advertisers while much of the population shelters in place.”

From driving demand in social, to exploring in search, and closing the sale in ecommerce, Kenshoo connects advertiser messages directly with consumers. With machine learning intelligence to drive unparalleled performance, Kenshoo integrates directly with more social, search and ecommerce platforms than any other marketing solution.

Methodology

Analysis is drawn from a population of nearly $7B in advertising spend, comprising over 3,000 advertiser and agency accounts across 40 vertical industries and over 150 countries running on the Kenshoo platform across Google, Microsoft, Baidu, Yandex, Yahoo! Japan, Verizon Media, Amazon, Walmart, Apple Search Ads, Pinterest, Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram and the Facebook Audience Network.

Except where noted in the report, only advertisers with 15 consecutive months of performance data are included. Some additional outliers have been excluded. Contrary to previous reports, ad spending and pricing have been translated to USD at the time the spending was incurred, and do not use Ex-FX, or “constant currency” dollars.

Radiant Hosts Webinar with IEEE GlobalSpec Presenting Optical Metrology Systems for Head-Up Display Measurement

Radiant Hosts Webinar with IEEE GlobalSpec Presenting Optical Metrology Systems for Head-Up Display Measurement

Having contributed to international HUD measurement standards (SAE J1757-2 “Optical System HUD for Automotive”), Radiant provides all of the necessary components for a complete HUD measurement system.

Radiant Vision Systems, a leading provider of test and measurement solutions for lighting and displays, announces that it will host a webinar with IEEE GlobalSpec (Engineering 360) presenting the latest trends in automotive head-up display (HUD) technology, from conventional to augmented reality (AR) HUD. The webinar focuses on optical measurement challenges and system benefits that ensure virtual image quality across all HUD systems and image types. “Measuring the Visual Quality of Head-Up Displays from Conventional to AR HUD” will be broadcast Tuesday May 12, from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (8:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT)). The broadcast includes a technical presentation and demonstration of measurement software, followed by a live audience question and answer session with Radiant Automotive Business Leader, Matt Scholz.

Projecting safety, navigation, and other time-sensitive information directly within the driver’s field of view offers advantages that have made HUDs the application segment with the highest expected growth rate in the automotive market. Introduced as a standard feature in an increasing number of vehicles, HUD technology is evolving rapidly. Already, consumer expectations regarding projection and holographic displays have set a high bar for HUD design and quality. With the advent of new HUD systems, equipment used to ensure optical quality (the accuracy and visibility of virtual images projected on the windshield) is likewise facing new demands. HUD measurement must adapt with the incorporation of 3D and AR-HUD systems, which project new types of virtual images, across larger fields of view, and at a range of depths. Responding to these demands, manufacturers are challenged to find measurement systems that can address the rapid evolution of HUD technology.

Radiant Vision Systems is a leading provider of HUD measurement solutions for the automotive industry, offering image-based photometric and colorimetric measurement systems combined with test software that greatly simplify visual inspection of HUD projections. Radiant’s dedicated Automotive Solutions Team works with major automotive brands, OEMs, and Tier I suppliers worldwide to meet specific measurement criteria for products that incorporate a range of technologies including TFT, DLP, and laser-based systems. Having contributed to international HUD measurement standards (SAE J1757-2 “Optical System HUD for Automotive”), Radiant provides all of the necessary components for a complete HUD measurement system. Radiant ProMetric® imaging colorimeters and photometers feature electronic lens control (software-adjustable focus and aperture) which is highly effective for identifying and focusing on images projected at variable distances into infinity. This capability enables Radiant’s analysis software to provide accurate luminance and chromaticity measurements at any working distance—from conventional HUD projections at two to five meters, to AR-HUD projections at as far as 20 meters. A range of analyses can be performed by a Radiant HUD measurement system, including evaluation of virtual image brightness, color, contrast, uniformity, sharpness or clarity (MTF), and positional accuracy, including characterization of undesirable visual qualities like ghosting, distortion, and warping.

During the upcoming webinar organized by IEEE GlobalSpec (Engineering 360), Radiant Automotive Business Leader, Matt Scholz, will provide an overview of HUD systems, with a focus on measurement challenges posed by new technology like AR-HUD and 3D virtual images that go beyond conventional fixed-depth projections. The webinar will introduce benefits and specifications of optical metrology systems and demonstrate HUD visual quality testing using Radiant’s TT-HUD™ head-up display test software module.

For more information about this webinar or to register for the live broadcast on May 12, visit https://www.globalspec.com/events/eventdetails?eventId=2808.

Cybriant Announces Mobile Threat Defense Services

Cybriant’s mobile threat defense services offer protection against physical threats, network threats, as well as vulnerabilities and unknown threats.

Cybriant, a leader in cybersecurity services, today announced a new array of services that are intended to protect mobile devices from hackers. These mobile threat defense services include mobile security risk assessments, mobile threat advisory services, and a managed mobile threat defense service with two levels of protection.

Corporate infrastructures have been venturing into the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) world for years often without knowing it. Conditional restrictions are often not in place to prevent access to corporate data deposited in email, SharePoint, calendaring, corporate contacts, and other applications. And even in cases where conditional restrictions may exist, the usage of mobile threat defense software may not be present or utilized on the device.

Contrastingly companies will often stringently secure their corporate laptops and desktops with MDR solutions, SIEM agents, and vulnerability management solutions. The difference in approaches to BYOD devices versus corporate-managed devices is troubling because BYOD devices can often access the same confidential data but without similar safeguards.

“With the recent string of major vulnerabilities discovered in both the Android and Apple iOS ecosystems, it’s becoming more apparent that any device that can access corporate data is a potential avenue for attack,” said Andrew Hamilton, CTO of Cybriant. “These mobile threat defense services offer protection against physical threats, network threats, as well as vulnerabilities and unknown threats.”

Cybriant’s Mobile Threat Defense services take a step beyond enterprise mobility management (EMM) and mobile device management (MDM) by including 24/7 live monitoring.

“Our security team has the ability to track threats using AI and stop a malware attack before it can execute,” said Mr. Hamilton. “Because of the COVID-19 outbreak, we are seeing an increase in mobile device attacks since workers are working remotely. This service has been invaluable to organizations with highly sensitive information that employees access on their mobile devices.”

For more information on the mobile threat defense services available, please go to https://cybriant.com/managed-mobile-threat-defense/.

Ocean Technology Firm Launches New Electronic Monitoring Platform That More Efficiently Captures At-Sea Observer Data

FlyWire’s patented mini-HD camera sensor allows us to install FlyWire hardware at the best angle, not only to collect high-quality imagery, but also to integrate into the fishing crew’s workflow.

As the fishing industry’s need for cost effective at-sea monitoring solutions continues to grow, FlyWire, makers of the world’s first turnkey precision fishing platform, has announced the launch of a revolutionary new approach to electronic monitoring that gives fishers a better way to balance the needs of the government and market with the needs of their businesses and communities.

FlyWire is using its patented technology and deep lean manufacturing expertise to help the fishing industry use technology to increase efficiency and drive down at-sea monitoring costs. The company anticipates a wave of new data-anchored profit possibilities for the fishing industry as new proposed rules by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) can allow fishing vessels more choice in putting their data to work for their businesses.

FlyWire brings to bear years of experience in designing marine monitoring technology and industrial process solutions to streamline operations. The platform is the dream child of engineer and lean manufacturing expert Jacob Isaac-Lowry, the company’s chief executive officer, and biological scientist Sarah Alessi, the chief operating officer. They are encouraged by how seafood producers have embraced the technology once they’ve seen the positive impact it can have on their bottom line.

“FlyWire is passionate about bringing the tools and techniques that revolutionized American manufacturing to the seafood industry,” said Isaac-Lowry. “We hope to work alongside every vessel owner, captain, and crew to show how the data they harvest can be used to increase efficiency and boost profits in addition to meeting strict compliance obligations.”

The first-of-its-kind, FlyWire platform allows fishing operations of any size to capture vessel-level data on every aspect of the commercial fishing operation – production, quality and supply chain management, regulatory compliance, and eco-label certifications.

The platform features:

  • proprietary hardware including unobtrusive miniature cameras, GPS and other sensors for any size vessel or fleet;
  • software and AI that collects, processes, analyzes and stores reliable data from each fishing trip including catch content and location, fishing effort and bycatch data;
  • electronic reporting that offers continuous insight into their operations and supply chain performance;
  • privacy rights for sensitive information and dissemination control; and
  • training and technical support for owners, captains, and crew

The company customizes technology and service plans based on the size of the vessel or fleet.
