LCR-Reader-MPA to be Shown at Del Mar Electronics and Manufacturing Show in September of 2020

LCR-Reader-MPA Flier

LCR-Reader-MPA Flier

LCR-Reader-MPA will be shown at this year’s Del Mar Electronics and Manufacturing Show in San Diego, California, September 16-17, 2020. Visit booth #233!

Siborg Systems Inc., the Canadian company behind the popular LCR-Reader multimeter line, will be showing the powerful LCR-Reader-MPA at this years Del Mar Electronics and Manufacturing Show in California. The show runs from September 16th-17th, 2020 in San Diego, California, and Siborg will be showing at booth #233.

The LCR-Reader line of multimeters offers devices that can identify and test components with just a touch. The devices use a powerful multimeter combined with a set of gold-plated tweezers; when the tweezers hold a component, the multimeter will automatically determine the type of component and best test parameters to use with no set-up required. All measurement values (LCR, ESR, etc.) are instantly available on the devices’ screen. The ability to test without any set up is extremely efficient, especially for component sorting and time sensitive tasks such as production lines.

LCR-Reader-MPA is the newest model in the LCR-Reader line of simple-to-use multimeters. Unlike other devices available on the market, such as Smart Tweezers, this model offers the most powerful basic accuracy at 0.1% and the most features on any of Siborg’s test equipment, including an oscilloscope mode which has not been included on a device since Smart Tweezers ST-1. Other features on the device include LED/diode testing, AC/DC current and voltage measurements, Signal Generator, Duty Cycle and frequency measurements, Pulse Counting, short/continuity testing, and more.

Some of the features that set MPA apart from the competition is the Large and Super Large Capacitance measurements up to 1,000 mF and a wide range of test frequencies (100, 120 Hz, 1, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 75 and 100 kHz). The ability to use 100 kHz is one of the most attractive features on the device, this allows for a 0.1 nH resolution for Inductance measurements and 0.001 F for Capacitance measurements. MPA is also able to automatically reduce the test signal level to 0.1 V for in-circuit measurements, and offers 3 test signal level for LEDs (0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 Vrms).

The device is lightweight and portable; it is slightly larger than a pen and only weighs 1 oz. making it nearly undetectable in a bag. The backlit LCD display provides enough contrast to be easily read in low-light situations. Controlled by a 4-way joystick-like button, users can change basic settings from the main screens or enter the more extensive menus for better customization. The Li-Po battery offers 7 hours of continuous use and is charged by a micro-USB cable.

LCR-Reader-MPA Features:

  • Automatic and manual LCR, ESR, LED/Diode measurements
  • 0.1% Basic accuracy
  • Auto and manual Test frequency selection (100, 120 Hz, 1,10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 75 nad 100 kHz)
  • Easy Open/Short calibration and offset removal
  • Test signal levels: 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 Vrms
  • AC/DC voltage measurements up to 15 V
  • AC/DC Current measurements
  • Signal Generator with Sine wave up to 100 kHz
  • Automatic Test Signal Reduction to 0.1 V for in-circuit measurements
  • 1 oz. weight
  • Backlit LCD
  • NIST Traceable Calibration Certificate (only with LCR-Reader-MPA Professional Task Kit)

Siborg will also take their LCR-Reader multimeter to the show; LCR-Reader is the budget alternative to more expensive multimeters such as Smart Tweezers without compromising on speed or accuracy. LCR-reader offers a 0.5% basic accuracy and testing without set-up, though this device does not allow users to customize their measurements beyond selecting ‘Auto’, ‘Inductance’, ‘Resistance’, or ‘Capacitance’ measurement mode. The device is still able to determine the type of component and best test frequency to use and displays all information, including ESR values on the OLED display.

Recently, Siborg began offering the LCR-Reader-MPA Professional task kit that includes device, NIST Traceable Calibration Certificate, Kelvin Probe Connector, spare bent tweezer probes, Offset Calibration Board, charging cable and charger. The Kelvin Probe Connector is a kit that comes with 5 different attachments and turns any tweezer-meter into a low-frequency probe station. This kit is best used with MPA’s oscilloscope mode to test waveforms at various nodes on a PCB. The Kelvin Probe Connector also allows the tweezer meter to test components larger than the tweezers’ gap. Many parts and accessories for Smart Tweezers and LCR-Readers are available on out website.

Visit Siborg Systems Inc. at booth #233 at this years Del Mar Electronics and Manufacturing Show at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in San Diego, California from September 16-17, 2020. Also check out the LCR-Reader Store to see Siborg’s other testing tools and accessories for their tweezer-meters.

New Web AR Innovation Brings 4K Video Content To Life In Augmented Reality

Ultra-high resolution video content unlocks higher quality Web AR experiences such as portals, OOH AR video ads, AR posters and print marketing.

Web AR agency, Aircards launches 4K video enabled Web AR experiences through adaptive streaming of high-resolution video content in Web-based Augmented Reality. The proprietary software uses a similar approach to buffering video on platforms such as Youtube and Netflix, effectively eliminating the limit of video duration for content and significantly reducing experience load times.

This proprietary feature developed by the Aircards team is a significant breakthrough in the realm of WebAR.

Why is this a breakthrough?

Due to the nature of Web AR as a cloud-hosted technology where users access experiences through a standard webpage, video content previously needed to be compressed to optimize file size for speedy page-load time. This constraint typically restricted the use of 4K resolution video due to the extremely large file size, but this new feature from Aircards removes that constraint. Ultra-high resolution video content unlocks higher-quality WebAR experiences such as portals, OOH AR video ads, and AR posters.

COO of Aircards, Michael Watson said:

“We’re proud to continually lead the charge on innovation within the Web AR space. Our team has developed an approach to enable adaptive streaming of high-resolution video content up to 4K in AR.”

“Our proprietary software uses a similar approach to buffering video on platforms such as Youtube and Netflix, effectively eliminating the limit of video duration for content in AR and reducing initial page load times by over 10x.”

Not only does this enable enhanced video resolution, it enables unlimited video duration for experiences where a longer video is preferential.

The proprietary technology, named ‘4K-AR’ uses adaptive bitrate streaming, which is the ability to download video segments during playback, and to adjust video quality in the middle of a stream as network conditions change while viewing the Web AR experience.

Aircards solely develop and deploy using the 8th Wall Web AR framework, which allows client campaigns to be totally ‘app-less’, meaning users don’t need to download an app to view the experience. 4K-AR is compatible across both iOS and Android devices and is now available for use within client campaigns.

KOAMTAC Augments Line of Barcode Scanners, RFID Readers, and mPOS with Social Distancing Solution

KOAMTAC, Inc. a leading manufacturer of Bluetooth companion barcode scanners, barcode and RFID Sleds, mPOS solutions, and enterprise charging solutions today launched a social distance solution for KDC BLE 5.0 barcode scanners and RFID readers. With warehouses, manufacturing, and other businesses resuming globally, the solution helps businesses adhere to social distancing guidelines and therefore protect employees’ health.

The new proximity feature leverages Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) 5.0 to alert employees via loud beeping alert, social distance warning message on screen, and vibration of both the KDC device and phone or tablet host device. The combination of approaches was created to help social distance even in a loud work environment and ensure accessibility for all workers. Workers may continue to utilize the scanner when the proximity sensor is alerting them, however, the alarm and messaging will continue until employees are at a safe, predetermined distance.

“As we return to work in our warehouses and manufacturing line, we have our employees’ health at the forefront. Proximity alerting is an excellent way to ensure they maintain a safe distance in these environments. We understood that if we wanted proximity alerts, so, too, would our customers,” said Hanjin Lee, President of KOAMTAC.

The proximity alert can be defined using the menu on a BLE 5.0 KDC, via KTSync application, or by scanning a special barcode and can be adjusted in increments of 3.3 feet (1 meter) up to 16 feet (5 meters). It is available for all BLE 5.0 KDC models including those with inductive charging, an alphanumeric keypad, and RFID reader. The KDC will send a notification to the connected host device, where it will record violations throughout the work shift and be available for review by supervisors. Utilizing the KTSync application, each violation can also trigger an email to the supervisor in real time to ensure adherence to the company’s social distance policy.

The proximity alert for social distancing is available to all current KOAMTAC customers via the latest firmware available for download at https://koamtac.com/support/downloads/firmware/. No additional software or application is needed to apply it to BLE KDCs though utilizing the KTSync app provides advanced options including warnings on the host device and automated supervisor notifications. For help with upgrading firmware, customers can contact KOAMTAC customer support via phone +1.609.256.4700 or online at https://koamtac.com/social-distancing-solution/.

Customers with Bluetooth Classic KDCs or KDCs with BLE4.1 can contact KOAMTAC to discuss upgrading their devices to BLE 5.0 models. KOAMTAC’s future proximity alerts will also be available via their KOAMTACON Mobile Data Management App with a dashboard for holistic reporting and contact tracing. KOAMTAC is also working on a consumer-level social distancing proximity alert solution utilizing BLE dongles and tags as a low-cost safety solution for businesses open to the public.

Radiant Presents Technical Paper during the Virtual Display Week Symposium Introducing a Method for Improving Accuracy in Pixel-Level Measurement

Radiant Presents Technical Paper during the Virtual Display Week Symposium Introducing a Method for Improving Accuracy in Pixel-Level Measurement

A new fractional-sensor-pixel measurement method was developed by Radiant to improve the accuracy of image-based measurements specifically for ‘demura’ or pixel uniformity correction applications.

Radiant Vision Systems, a leading provider of photometric imaging solutions for light and display measurement, announces that it will present a technical paper during the 2020 Display Week Symposium taking place online from August 3-7. The Symposium is one of several events planned over the course of Display Week 2020 including a virtual technical program and exhibition organized by The Society for Information Display (SID). Doug Kreysar, Chief Executive Officer at Radiant Vision Systems, will present the company’s paper titled “Fractional Pixel Method for Improved Pixel-Level Measurement and Correction (Demura) of High-Resolution Displays” authored by Kreysar, Gary R. Pedeville (Senior Principal Engineer), and Joshua H. Rouse (Senior Optical Software Engineer III) from Radiant. The presentation will be available for registered attendees to view online in Session 71: Spatial Uniformity beginning Thursday, August 6.

“Display resolution and pixel density continue to increase dramatically, and so does the importance of measuring displays from the pixel level,” says Kreysar. “Technologies like OLED, mini-, and microLED are illuminated by their emissive pixels and subpixels, which can vary in output. This variation results in nonuniform brightness and color across the display, making measurement and correction processes a critical part of quality control. Measuring the characteristics of individual display pixels, however, has become more challenging for image-based measurement technology, which must apply several sensor pixels per display pixel for accurate measurement. A new fractional-sensor-pixel measurement method was developed by Radiant to improve the accuracy of image-based measurements specifically for ‘demura’ or pixel uniformity correction applications. This method enables highly flexible display pixel registration to ensure accurate calculation of display pixel correction factors to improve display uniformity.”

An online presentation of Radiant’s technical paper during the virtual Display Week Symposium will introduce the company’s fractional pixel method and provide data demonstrating the method’s accuracy for pixel-level luminance measurement over traditional “whole pixel” methods. The results will show that luminance data obtained using imaging systems with limited sensor resolution (achieving as few as 3 x 3 image sensor pixels per display pixel)—when a fractional pixel method is applied—provide a very close match to luminance data obtained using an extremely high-resolution imaging system (achieving as many as 30 x 30 image sensor pixels per display pixel). Without a fractional pixel approach, pixel-level luminance measurements obtained using available imaging systems may have significant inaccuracies. These inaccuracies can impact correction processes, resulting in noticeably poor visual quality in “corrected” displays.

Presenting the paper on behalf of Radiant Vision Systems, CEO Doug Kreysar has a background in engineering, physics, and management, having led multiple departments at Radiant since joining the company in 2000. Formerly the company’s Chief Solutions Officer, Kreysar has overseen the development of Radiant’s optical technologies for light and color measurement across production applications worldwide.
