K40 Electronics Releases Its First Portable Radar Detector With Optional Remote Control and Laser Defuser Integration

K40 Electronics, a premier manufacturer of award-winning, high-performance automotive radar and laser protection systems, has introduced the Platinum100 Series portable radar & laser detectors. The Platinum100 is engineered to be the best, customizable speeding ticket defense available with over 40 years of cutting-edge product focus. All K40 Electronics products are backed by the world’s first and most comprehensive Ticket-Free Guarantee.

Long-Range Radar Receiver Technology

The new Platinum Series Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) radar receiver is more sensitive and has increased overall performance, more range, and allows more customization options. This new receiver assists drivers when it counts by offering up to 40% greater sensitivity and range on all police radar bands. Drivers can also expect more filtration options and tailored alert preferences giving more advanced warnings with fewer false alerts.

New Display and Convenience Options

OLED Multi-Color Display – Drivers will be able to choose from a variety of options to customize the display for their vehicle’s aesthetics and driving preferences. These customizable features include display color, display layout, 3-bar or 5-bar signal strength readout, All-Threat Mode, vehicle battery voltage, and clock readout.

USB Port: future-ready- Easy to update if and when new threats emerge.

Headphone jack – Allows alerts to be heard using in-ear 8-ohm headphones or an external speaker. Vehicle and motorcycle drivers can use this jack as an additional option for hearing radar and laser alerts.

Single-cup swivel mount – This mount is a robust and durable mount that limits vibrations and allows drivers to adjust the unit for optimum viewing angles. Drivers in all vehicles will be able to mount their Platinum100 for maximum visibility and accessibility.

Power supplies: Two power cords included –One 10 foot straight cord for hardwiring the Platinum100 in one vehicle and a 4.6-foot coiled cord for use in a second vehicle.

Focus on the Real Threats with Advanced Filtering

Radar Band Selectivity – Drivers will be able to select how much or little of the K-band or Ka-band frequency spectrum they want to be alerted to. By focusing on specific band segments, drivers can expect increased warning times.

Ka-Band Filter – Ka-band filter enables filtration of Ka-band non-police radar signals, such as other radar detectors and satellite broadcast bands. Drivers will enjoy the confidence of filtering out the non-police alerts and knowing where the real threats are. Just like K40’s K-band filter, used to silence vehicles with radar-based safety features, this filter does not affect the Platinum100’s range and performance against police threats.

Auto Filter – The “Auto” setting in the City/Highway filter automatically adjusts range and sensitivity based on your vehicle’s speed. This feature is perfect for drivers who like a “set it and forget it” approach to minimizing non-police alerts in low-speed situations while maintaining maximum sensitivity in higher speed scenarios.

MultaRadar CD/CT Detection – Enable this feature for advanced warning to MRCD speed cameras found in select cities in the US and Canada.

All New Customization and Add-On Options

World’s First Remote Control Option – Never take your eyes off the road again

The K40 Platinum100 is the world’s first portable radar detector to offer a remote control option. For the first time, drivers will have the option of purchasing the Platinum100 with a wireless RF remote control included (K40-100 RC). Remote controls put all the control functions of the system at the driver’s fingertips. With this new technology, drivers will no longer have to reach across their dash to the windshield to adjust their Platinum100’s customizable settings.

Connected Laser Defusers-Laser protection, not just detection

The Platinum100 is K40’s first-ever portable with the option of integrating alerts from K40’s Laser Defusers. Houston Companies Partner to Protect Homebound Seniors from Fall Risk During COVID-19

Galen Data, a leading provider of cloud technologies for medical devices, and Zibrio, the maker of a balance measurement and support device, today announced a new partnership to further enhance the device’s ability to protect seniors from potentially life-threatening accidental falls.

The patented Zibrio SmartScale measures physical balance and uses AI to predict an individual’s likelihood of falling. The accompanying Zibrio Balance Coach App tracks progress over time and provides recommendations to the user to encourage positive behaviors that affect balance. Leveraging the Galen CloudTM, the company can now securely connect data from the device with a patient’s physician — supporting remote patient care.

Physical balance in older adults is a serious health concern. The CDC reports that 28% of individuals over 65 fall each year (that number climbs to 50% for individuals over 80), bearing an estimated $50 billion annual cost to the US healthcare system. Falls are also the leading cause of accidental death in those over 65.

These dangers are made even more acute by COVID-19. Seniors are increasingly homebound and subsequently are often getting less exercise, losing stability, and becoming more susceptible to life-threatening falls. A recent study published by the Australian PT Association found a 30% increase in falls requiring hospitalization due to COVID-19 in the last 6 months. “With COVID-19 impacting activities of older adults, it was even more critical to find a cost-effective solution to better track, manage, and analyze balance data from our SmartScale,” said Zibrio Founder & CEO, Dr. Katharine Forth.

In choosing Galen Data, Forth said “Galen Data offered everything we wanted in one solution. As soon as I met with them, I realized that this was exactly what we needed.”

The founders of Galen Data have a combined 50+ years of experience in healthcare technology, medical devices, and regulatory compliance. The company built the first turnkey cloud solution for medical device makers, offering a configurable, secure, and compliant cloud.

“Our partnership with Zibrio is a case study in helping an early stage medical device company focus on what they do best,” said Galen Data CEO Chris DuPont. “Galen Data provided outside expertise that has saved Zibrio the needless cost and burden of designing a cloud solution from scratch.”

About Galen Data

Galen Data, Inc. provides a turnkey cloud solution for medical device makers that is configurable, secure, and compliant. The company was founded to make device-to-cloud connectivity possible in a matter of weeks instead of months, and at a fraction of the cost. The Galen Cloud™ collects and securely stores data, and includes tools to visualize and analyze that data. Dashboards and alerts for the manufacturer, medical team, and patients are also provided within the platform. The software platform is compliant to FDA, HIPAA, and CE Mark standards, and is ISO13485:2016 certified. Dozens of companies have partnered with Galen Data to solve their medical device connectivity needs.

About Zibrio

ZIBRIO is the balance company, commercializing space technology originally used on astronauts upon return from space flight. The company is dedicated to preventing unnecessary injuries and deaths from falls.

XiQ, A Vehicle Technology Startup, Reveals New Fleet Product and Partner Announcement

The Stinger keyless device replaces the key ignition. It enables mobile cart control via the “Stinger Pro” app.

“Regardless of cost, the use of low-speed electric vehicles, or LSEVs, are on the rise — even in urban areas.” Harvard Business School fellow Thomas Bartman

The team at XiQ, a vehicle security and informatics startup, announces its first fleet implementation for their breakthrough Stinger™ device in a new commercial partnership with a leading southeast fleet vehicle business.

Top Deck Golf Carts, located in Port Aransas, Texas, has committed to an initial three-year purchase plan that will see the patented Stinger™ ignition device installed on more than 1,500 rental golf carts at four coastal resorts near Corpus Christi, Texas. Along with the partnership announcement, XiQ also reveals the new FleetQi™(fleet-key) brand to mark the maturity milestone of their fleet security device.

XiQ’s FleetQi™(fleet-key) is a next step evolution of the Stinger™ device. The Stinger™ device replaces the manual key ignition with a programmable keypad that syncs to a mobile phone app, which can be used to control and monitor the vehicle’s systems. The device works on many vehicle brands without the need for drilling, additional wiring, or expensive redesigning. The simple low-cost installation is easy enough for retail consumers but also cost effective for marinas, golf resorts, or hunting lodges who manage fleets of vehicles. Once installed, the Stinger™ technology can be leveraged by businesses using FleetQi™.

Kyle Wagner, Owner of Top Deck Golf Carts said, “We plan to include this technology, that’s made in the USA, on future expansions which will at least double our current fleet over the next four to five years.” Additionally, the devices were so well received by the Top Deck staff that both parties have begun early discussions about adding the devices to future boat rental fleets managed by Top Deck.

CEO of XiQ, Karlos Walkes responded, “Top Deck’s confidence in us reinforces our mission to support a safe experience out there on the road or water. This valuable relationship highlights a shared commitment to create a hardware infrastructure that will support new data driven insights for undiscovered efficiencies.” Walkes went on to say, “We’re beyond excited to be a part of their operations team and I’m truly happy to know their customers will enjoy the keyless experience.”

Features of FleetQi™ include:

  • Secure PIN code vehicle control: Keyless 4-digit activation.
  • Digital Battery Meter: 12V-48V battery level guide.
  • Dynamic Code Memory: Change user codes quickly and easily anytime.
  • “One-Click” Mobile Vehicle Control: Ignition activation via the mobile app.
  • Mobile Device ID: Device detection and identification via the app.

Carts are not just for golf courses anymore. They serve many lifestyle and fleet markets. Resorts, small towns, and many southern beach communities allow Low Speed Vehicles (LSV), known to many as “street legal golf carts”, on their roads. More people are choosing LSVs for their errands and spending more drive time in their carts. LSVs are a growing market, however, digital conveniences offered in modern automobiles are not available for LSVs. XiQ has been shaking up this underserved multi-billion-dollar digital market with its signature Stinger™ keyless ignition device for nearly five years. Now, they extend their offerings to support rental fleet operations with FleetQi™.

About Top Deck Carts

Top Deck Golf Carts is the largest rental cart outfitter in the State of Texas. The company specializes in luxury upgrades such as patented customized canopies and electronic add-ons. Top Deck’s growth has benefited from excellent customer experiences, lifestyle enhancing custom vehicles, and their ability to secure exclusive supplier deals with several large upscale urban community developments along the coastal region. They have several locations near Corpus Christie, Texas with headquarters in Port Aransas.

About XiQ

XiQ is an innovative vehicle informatics company targeting non-automotive and marine vehicles. The company has sold numerous consumer devices to recreational or non-automotive distributors as well as individual cart enthusiasts. The Stinger™ is now available at select retailers. FleetQi™ technology is now available for commercial fleet partnerships. XiQ has been recognized by the Atlanta angel investor community and featured in numerous articles covering startup ventures worth following. The engineering team is proud to have developed, designed and assembled their products in the United States of America.

WetKeys Washable Keyboards Protect Essential Workers in Meat and Poultry Plants with Food Safety Solutions

WetKeys "Flex Touch" Full-size Flexible Silicone Washable Keyboard with Touchpad and On/Off Switch Black KBWKFC103STI-BK

WetKeys “Flex Touch” Full-size Flexible Silicone Washable Keyboard | KBWKFC103STi-BK

Outfitting the shared data entry points along the processing line better protects workers from the risk of possible cross contamination.

Meat and food processing facilities present a higher risk of contamination because workers are in closer proximity in a variety of shared spaces and touchpoints throughout the plants, and social distancing measures can be hard to maintain. The CDC describes another specific concern for these workers becoming infected “from contact with contaminated surfaces or objects, such as tools, workstations, or break room tables. Shared spaces such as break rooms, locker rooms, and entrances/exits to the facility may contribute to their risk.” One commonly overlooked tool at shared workstations is the data entry peripherals. Lineworkers who use the same data entry tool can be exposed to the virus through cross-contamination between the rotating shifts. Providing an adequate waterproof and washable solution that can withstand the CDC recommendation of “at least once per shift, if possible” disinfection of “frequently touched surfaces in workspaces” is vital for the protection of these workers who continue to keep our grocery store shelves stocked.

WetKeys Washable Keyboards have equipped hundreds of workstations across industry for food safety concerns. The most popular solution in the past for data entry along the processing line has been the KBWKFC103STi-BK. The WetKeys “Flex Touch” Full-Size Flexible Silicone Washable Keyboard with Touchpad is an industry exclusive to the WetKeys and SaniType brand. Chief Operating & Technology Officer and Co-founder, David Malo talks about the inception of this product and its new added value in protecting essential workers: “When we set out to design the KBWKFC103Sti-BK, we were originally considering food safety compliance and finding a cost effective solution for our food manufacturing clients. Now, this solution can be deployed by plant managers as essential PPE to better protect the hardworking individuals working the line in these plants.” This fully sealed silicone keyboard is an all-in-one solution with a built-in touchpad. The ON/OFF switch allows for easy routine cleaning at the workstations. This model is also available in white, KBSTFC103STi-W. Outfitting the shared data entry points along the processing line better protects workers from the risk of possible cross contamination.

Workers in the food supply chain across America are at a greater risk of contracting coronavirus because meat and poultry plants have become COVID-19 hot spots. The early stages of the pandemic were characterized by meat shortages that captured national attention and focused on meat and poultry workers as part of the essential workforce. Both Wyoming senators, Mike Enzi and John Barrasso, explained the importance of these workers in a letter to U.S Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue: “When high-capacity processing facilities experienced outbreaks amongst employees, operations were forced to shut-off or slow down production, leaving the rancher with livestock they could not move and the consumer with either empty grocery shelves or overpriced products.” Outbreaks have caused many of these factories to close, and the workers to be sent home for their safety. CNBC reports on the ubiquitous issue across the industry with “nearly 240 meat processing facilities [having] at least one confirmed case among the workers, and more than 16,200 workers across 23 states [having] tested positive for the virus.”

As the coronavirus pandemic continues, worker safety becomes a primary goal. With so many workers being affected, it is important to acknowledge that a majority of the line workers are from communities of color that have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. According to the Washington Post, “Black, Latino, and Asian workers make up about 70 percent of the processing line workers in meatpacking plants.” America’s food supply chain is dependent upon these workers; their health and safety should be a primary concern for the plant managers in maintaining continued operations.
