Sleep Consortium Launches Sleep Patient Data Collection Initiative to Accelerate Therapeutic Development

“Sleep Consortium’s new patient data collection platform is poised to become a critical driver for learnings, advancements, and patient-centered progress to improve countless lives.” — Julie Flygare, President and CEO, Project Sleep.

Sleep Consortium (SC) and RARE-X, the Global Genes research program and patient-owned data collection platform, today announced a collaboration to launch the Sleep Data Collection Initiative aimed at accelerating the development of effective treatments for central disorders of hypersomnolence (CDoH) and related conditions.

Phase 1 of the Sleep Data Collection Initiative has four main objectives: bring together a multi-disciplinary workgroup to prioritize sleep domains, develop an expanded sleep-focused data model, create a sleep patient community data collection portal, and the publication of a white paper detailing Phase 1 outcomes. This portal will serve as a platform to collect longitudinal patient-owned data, enabling the connection and pooling of multiple data sets. Ultimately, it will provide researchers around the world with the opportunity to request and analyze high-quality data. This platform will enable individuals with Primary Central Disorders of Hypersomnolence, including Narcolepsy Type 1, Narcolepsy Type 2, Idiopathic Hypersomnia, and Kleine-Levin Syndrome, to directly share their data with researchers and efficiently scale up treatment development opportunities. While this program and Phase 1 development will be expansive, Sleep Consortium will leverage existing investment in the robust platform, data governance and data model that RARE-X has brought forward.

“The Sleep Consortium takes a bold new approach to sleep research putting the patient in the center of its efforts. This initiative demands that the patient be the driver of new research considerations, have ownership of their own data, and serve as an invaluable partner to researchers internationally. This novel approach will leverage advanced technologies to further our understanding of sleep-wake disorders by starting with the debilitating symptom of excessive daytime sleepiness and identifying all the faces of patients who are suffering from it to better define the roads that lead to the development, consequence, and association with excessive daytime sleepiness.” — Anne Marie Morse, Director of Child Neurology and Pediatric Sleep Medicine, Geisinger, Janet Weis Children’s Hospital and Sleep Consortium Scientific Advisor.

This patient-led effort will further disease understanding and help enable the development of treatments that provide meaningful clinical benefit. The patient data collection portal will launch in Q1 2024, and patient-reported data will live alongside other consented, research-ready data sets from global registries, clinical sites, and academic institutions. The data collection portal will also serve to connect patients with qualifying clinical trials and studies. At present, patient-reported outcome measures are inadequate in capturing what truly matters to patients, and detailed, research-grade registry data is lacking.

“Unraveling the mysteries of narcolepsy and accelerating transformational research will require sophisticated technology and good-old-fashion teamwork. This is why I believe the Sleep Consortium’s new patient data collection platform is poised to become a critical driver for learnings, advancements, and patient-centered progress to improve countless lives.” — Julie Flygare, President and CEO, Project Sleep.

Sleep Consortium includes a diverse group of participants from across the rare disease ecosystem, including individuals with sleep disorders, advocates, advocacy organizations, KOLs, biopharmaceutical companies, and academic researchers. The consortium will lead the effort to collect patient-owned sleep data via the existing RARE-X data and analytics platform. By collecting and federating contemporary high-quality patient data, this initiative will help catalyze new knowledge that will help inform the research and development of new treatments.

“Hypersomnia Foundation recognizes the urgent need to accelerate research in hypersomnia disorders by working together as a community. It is the unique ability to interconnect data that will transform disease understanding and therapeutic development.” — David Burley, Board Chair, Hypersomnia Foundation.

The SC interconnected data collection effort will not only benefit people diagnosed with CDoH but also expand its reach through the sleep domain build-out with other disease groups within the RARE-X ecosystem. Currently, the RARE-X Platform supports 83 disease communities with ~58% of participants reporting sleep disturbance as a phenotype.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the Sleep Consortium on this patient-centered initiative that promises to accelerate therapeutic development for central disorders of hypersomnolence. As a company committed to improving the lives of patients, we are excited to take the lead in advancing research and development in this pre-competitive space, and to be working with such a forward-thinking organization that truly puts patients at the center of its efforts.” — Bruce Cozadd, chairman and chief executive officer of Jazz Pharmaceuticals

BMI Imaging Makes Debut At The 2023 Tennessee Library Association Conference

Jeremy at TLA 2023

Conferences have traditionally been a part of our overall sales effort, and they’re great ways to support the industries we work with and get a chance to be face-to-face with the people in that industry.

BMI Imaging Systems, Inc. recently attended and exhibited at the Tennessee Library Association (TLA) conference in Memphis, TN.

Being involved in the library and newsprint archiving business since the 1960s, checking out a conference that its team had not previously attended was an easy decision to make. With a client base that spans across the country, BMI’s sales team is constantly looking for library and archives conferences that provide new interactions with the people that maintain local history.

Will Whitney, Head of Sales and Marketing, says that “We’re always looking for ways to interact with existing and future clients. Conferences have traditionally been a part of our overall sales effort, and they’re great ways to support the industries we work with and get a chance to be face-to-face with the people in that industry. Coincidentally, we recently hired a sales rep in Tennessee so it made it a no-brainer to get him out to Memphis and exhibit with the folks at TLA. It was a double plus for us: we get to exhibit at a conference we haven’t been to before, and our new rep gets field-tested by being dropped into the fire of a conference. Can’t get any better than that.”

About BMI

BMI Imaging Systems (originally Bay Microfilm Incorporated) incorporated in 1958 as a microfilm service bureau, working with County Recorders to archive land records on microfilm. In the early 1960s, services were expanded to include preservation microfilming of the rare books and manuscripts of leading California Universities. A Library Microfilms Division was also established, working with over 200 newspaper publishers to preserve California local history for libraries and archivists. A reputation for service, precision, and reliability led to steady expansion of BMI’s government, education, and commercial clients over the next two decades. By the early 1990’s, the records management industry had entered the digital age and BMI was at the forefront of this evolution. Clients were meeting their electronic document management needs by having BMI digitize their records, with BMI installing and supporting on-site document management software solutions.

Today, BMI’s production capability includes two imaging facilities with a staff of more than 60 technicians. With a focus on quality, accuracy, security, and innovation, BMI provides custom solutions that fit the unique requirements of each of its customers. In addition to providing document/microform imaging and indexing services of the highest standard, BMI offers public tenant, private tenant, and CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services)-compliant community cloud hosting services, enabling secure access to client data via the Web. BMI also provides systems integration services, implementing turnkey document capture, management, and workflow solutions. BMI employs an in-house software development staff, a project management customer support staff, along with IT professionals that support internal and Web hosting operations.

Tackle Cyber Threats Head on with Affordable, Scalable Cyber Security Solutions

Cyber Security Solutions

Defending devices, systems and data from malicious attack requires the right blend of cyber security solutions. These solutions must adapt to address specific business needs, such as cloud computing and remote work, as well as an evolving threat landscape.

A NYC area cyber security expert outlines affordable cyber security solutions in a new article on the eMazzanti Technologies website. The informative article first asserts that cyber security has emerged as a leading business concern affecting organizations of all sizes and in all industries.

The author then details network security and monitoring solutions, including eCare Secure Route, which provides automated, comprehensive threat protection. After stating that more than 90 percent of targeted cyber-attacks begin with an email, she discusses security awareness training and email protection for small and mid-size businesses. She concludes by explaining dark web monitoring, identity theft protection, penetration testing, multi-factor authentication, and cloud backup.

“Defending devices, systems and data from malicious attack requires the right blend of cyber security solutions,” stated Jennifer Mazzanti, CEO, eMazzanti Technologies. “These solutions must adapt to address specific business needs, such as cloud computing and remote work, as well as an evolving threat landscape.”

Below are a few excerpts from the article, “Tackle Cyber Threats Head on with Affordable, Scalable Cyber Security Solutions.”

Network Security and Monitoring

“Protect any device, anywhere with cloud-delivered network security and web filtering. 24/7 monitoring, enhanced by big data analytics and machine learning, means even small businesses benefit from enterprise-grade threat detection. And the solution stops 50 to 98 percent more attacks than firewalls and antivirus alone.”

Email Protection and Security Awareness Training

“More than 90 percent of targeted cyber-attacks begin with an email. For instance, unwitting users click a malicious link, respond to a cleverly disguised phishing attempt, or send sensitive data through email. A combination of technology and security awareness training provides essential protection.”

Dark Web Monitoring and Identity Theft Protection

“With Dark Web monitoring through MXINSPECT, your organization can detect and respond to compromised credentials or stolen customer data before a major breach occurs.”

Penetration Testing

“One of the best ways to identify security gaps involves penetration testing. Pen testing simulates a real-world attack in controlled conditions. During testing, an expert ethical hacker attempts to locate and exploit system vulnerabilities using the same tactics a malicious hacker will use.”

Cyber Security Workshops

To pull it all together, eMazzanti Technologies provides a series of on-demand cyber security workshops on essential security topics. These include endpoint security, MFA, securing the remote workforce, ransomware and more. By partnering with eMazzanti, business leaders benefit from world-class security tools and award-winning cyber security expertise.”

StorMagic SvSAN Ranked a Global TOP 5 HCI Solution by Data Center Analyst Firm DCIG

“Features that catapulted SvSAN as a top solution included minimal and flexible hardware requirements, high availability, ease of management and ease of procurement through StorMagic’s extensive partner network.”

StorMagic®, solving the world’s edge data problems, today announced that storage analyst firm DCIG LLC named StorMagic SvSAN a global top five HCI solution. The “2023-24 DCIG TOP 5 Rising Vendors HCI Software Solutions” report evaluates offerings from eleven rising vendor HCI software solutions to provide IT decision makers with succinct analysis of the market’s HCI solutions.

“Our research shows that HCI software addresses the challenges associated with managing IT infrastructure for small to medium-sized enterprises,” said Ken Clipperton, DCIG lead analyst for Storage. “Features that catapulted SvSAN as a top solution included minimal and flexible hardware requirements, high availability, ease of management and ease of procurement through StorMagic’s extensive partner network.”

StorMagic SvSAN is unique in the hyperconverged infrastructure market because of its 2-node architecture. Using SvSAN, organizations are able to massively simplify their edge IT infrastructure while retaining high availability and reducing both CapEx and OpEx costs. SvSAN makes it easy for end users to get value from essential data at and from the edge.

“StorMagic SvSAN was designed for customers with just a few or many thousands of sites – like remote and branch offices, retail chains and healthcare organizations,” said Bruce Kornfeld, chief marketing and product officer, StorMagic. “DCIG’s report is timely and a terrific resource for customers who are moving from the cloud to HCI solutions at the edge, to efficiently and affordably manage data where it is being created.”

SvSAN attributes that secured the DCIG TOP 5 award include:

  • Minimal hardware requirements. Organizations benefit from SvSAN’s minimal hardware requirements, which simplifies components and costs. The two nodes in an SvSAN cluster can use different hardware configurations, so customers aren’t required to use the identical solution for all nodes.
  • Simple high availability. Edge locations generally lack on-site IT support, lengthening outages when failures occur. An SvSAN two-server solution delivers all the features necessary to ensure 100 percent uptime at these remote sites.
  • Simple management oversight. SvSAN is simple to install and once installed, runs in the background without needing daily or weekly maintenance. Customers can monitor a large fleet of SvSAN installations from a single location.
  • Extensive partner network. StorMagic’s sales model is 100% channel based so customers acquire SvSAN through its partner ecosystem of server OEMs and a global network of VARs.

Proposal to Deploy Uniswap V3 on Gnosis Chain Passes with Nearly 100% Consensus

A 99.99% approval is a strong message to the rest of the industry at large, showing how important decentralization is to users as we trend toward the next major market cycle.

Uniswap V3 will be deployed on Gnosis Chain after a nearly unanimous governance vote that was held in early April. Over 40 million votes were cast with only 2 being cast as not in favor of the proposal, and none abstaining, which ultimately provides an enthusiastically positive ratio of 99.99% approval from all voters.

Uniswap V3 is a major upgrade to the popular Uniswap decentralized exchange (DEX). It offers several benefits over previous versions, including improved capital efficiency and more flexible and customizable fee structures, all delivered through a greatly improved UX. The deployment of Uniswap V3 on Gnosis Chain will make it possible for users to benefit from these features on the most decentralized protocol available.

“We are thrilled to see the community show their support in such a meaningful way with the Uniswap V3 vote,” shared Martin Köppelmann, Co-Founder of Gnosis. “A 99.99% approval is a strong message to the rest of the industry at large, showing how important decentralization is to users as we trend toward the next major market cycle. Uniswap V3 on Gnosis makes it easier for users to securely engage in the best DeFi experience possible while bringing more liquidity to the Gnosis ecosystem.”

Uniswap V3’s deployment on Gnosis received an unprecedented nearly 100% positive vote ratio. Compared to other chains who have held the same vote only to find a more contentious vote, this overwhelming support highlights an increasing industry trend of valuing decentralization as one of the most important tenets of blockchain development. Gnosis continues down the path to being the most fully decentralized protocol available by focusing on credible neutrality to ensure the most diverse, secure and impartial platform where no one can censor or manipulate transactions, while always providing everyone an equal opportunity to participate in the network.

With over 100,000 geographically diverse validators running in 60 countries, Gnosis Chain already stands as the most fully decentralized EVM-native scaling solution available. Yet, to help drive decentralization even faster, Gnosis also recently launched their Validator Incentive Program with the goal to increase the number of countries running nodes to 180 before the end of the year. Since December 2022, the number of Gnosis validators has grown from 20 to over 115K and continues to see 10% month over month growth. Countries with Gnosis Chain nodes also grew from 31 to 60 through February to March 2023. By providing additional resources such as the VIP program there are no signs of this progress slowing.

Köppelmann added, “The future of DeFi on Gnosis Chain is bright. The Gnosis team is confident that these integrations and initiatives will further position Gnosis Chain as a leading platform for DeFi platforms and other decentralized applications. We welcome everyone to join the community and help the industry understand the importance of full decentralization”

Gnosis Chain

Gnosis Chain is a full EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) Layer 1 blockchain with 100K+ validators, prioritizing decentralization and security. Gnosis Chain empowers developers to have a much more agile development environment, easing the process of testing and launching applications. Because of its close alignment with Ethereum, Gnosis Chain allows for fast execution of Ethereum updates and fosters additional innovation.

Aragon Research Releases its Fifth Aragon Research Globe™ for Enterprise Content Platforms, 2023

The Aragon Research Globe for Enterprise Content Platforms, 2023

The Aragon Research Globe for Enterprise Content Platforms, 2023

Business transformation means not standing still in Enterprise Content. Automating content processes can provide a strategic advantage for years to come. – Aragon Research CEO, Jim Lundy

Aragon Research’s latest Globe™ for Enterprise Content Platforms (ECP), 2023 overviews the current state of the ECP market, defines the new shift to content platforms, and evaluates eleven major providers in the enterprise content platform (ECP) space.

Aragon continues to look at the ECP market as one in transition from a focus on managing content to one of automating content; while Aragon Research has stated just last year that enterprises need to review their content and document-related processes, today, in 2023, the priority should be content automation – or simply putting more content into motion to speed up business results.

The ECP market is changing and while managing content is important, we are entering the Content AI era and with that, ECP applications will be capable of doing more than in the past, which means faster time to outcomes.

“Business transformation means not standing still in Enterprise Content. Enterprises need to redefine their business transformation strategies and make adjustments to their providers as needed,” says Aragon Research CEO, Jim Lundy. “Automating Content processes can provide a strategic advantage for years to come.”

The vendors evaluated in this report are:

AODocs, Box, IBM, KnowledgeLake, Laserfiche, M-Files, Microsoft, Newgen, Hyland, OpenText, and Oracle.

The Aragon Research Globe for Enterprise Content Platforms, 2023 serves to help decision-makers differentiate the vendors that offer enterprises the content automation capabilities needed to grow in today’s market.
