Magnitude.io Selects Kansas Teacher as the ExoLab-8 Astro_moji Mission Specialist

Students will be part of something that has the potential to change humanity.

Magnitude.io CEO Ted Tagami announced today that Linwood Elementary Technology Teacher Lisa Turney from Linwood, Kansas will have her Bitmoji launch to the International Space Station with the ExoLab-8 mission.

Tagami remarked, “Lisa Turney will serve as the ExoLab-8 Astro_moji Mission Specialist leading an extraordinary virtual field trip experience and connecting students in all settings to a plant experiment in microgravity.”

From November 12 through December 6, Magnitude.io invited educators to apply for the mission specialist position. When the pandemic changed normal school routines, Turney, along with thousands of other educators, developed virtual learning environments by creating Bitmoji classroom lessons. After submitting a Bitmoji classroom lesson and short essay, Turney’s likeness was chosen to be featured on a Bitmoji sticker that will be placed on the astrobotany experiment launching on the NG-15 cargo resupply mission in February 2021.

Upon receiving the news of her selection, Turney expressed, “In times like this, opportunity means everything. There are no field trips, assemblies, or working together in groups. It is a new world for students and teachers, but a space mission that connects students and scientists from far distances? That is truly an inspiring experience.”

Recognizing the value of scientific inquiry, Turney added, “Students will love the opportunity to do hands-on science using technology to monitor the experiment in space! Students will be part of something that has the potential to change humanity. The implications of growing food in space effectively is far reaching. They will see how true science is done and that it can be done anywhere.”

After a career as a local meteorologist, Turney decided to bring her passion for science to students. Turney is in her 13th year as a K-12 educator and 15th year as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Missouri ‒ Kansas City. She has a Bachelors of Science degree in Atmospheric Science and a Master’s degree in Teaching. A self-described science nerd, she recently joined the staff at Linwood Elementary, located west of Kansas City, KS in the Basehor-Linwood School District 458.

The ExoLab-8 mission will investigate how the stress of spaceflight affects the symbiotic relationship of red clover and nitrogen-fixing Rhizobia bacteria. ExoLab missions assist students with authentic research as they investigate agriculture on Earth and contemplate food crop production during long duration space missions. Educators can register for this virtual field trip and conduct ground trials with their students while the experiment is on the space station.

In collaboration with Space Tango, a company enabling R&D and manufacturing in space, and the ISS U.S. National Laboratory’s Space Station Explorers, Magnitude.io’s award-winning ExoLab connects students in classrooms and kitchens at a fraction of the cost of typical space-based missions. Space Tango has assisted Magnitude.io since the inaugural launch of ExoLab-1 in February 2017. Magnitude.io is a founding member of the Space Station Explorers consortium, which includes more than 1,000 U.S. teachers promoting fun, STEM experiences aboard the ISS.

Noble Gas Systems’ Industry-Leading Conformable Compressed Gas Storage System Aids in Advancing Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles

Noble Gas Systems’ unique, conformable storage system contains high-pressure gas in lightweight, space-efficient package

Our solution not only addresses the storage challenge, but efficiently and safely stores compressed hydrogen or CNG fuel onboard a vehicle without impacting passenger or cargo space.

Global demand for compressed natural gas (CNG) and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles continues to grow. However, large-scale adoption of these alternative fuel technologies requires safe, efficient, high-pressure gas storage. To address this challenge, Noble Gas Systems (Noble Gas) was founded to create a safe, conformable, lightweight compressed gas storage and delivery system. Today, the company has demonstrated its latest generation of conformable gas tanks, which can be configured into existing vehicle architectures. The new tanks, with working pressures of 350 bar (5,000 psi), are lightweight and less than 80mm (3.1in) wide.

“The automotive and commercial vehicle industries are investing heavily in fuel cell technology as a solution to meet low- and zero-emission government regulations, but current compressed gas storage systems are big, heavy and inefficient,” said Chris Kondogiani, principal, Noble Gas Systems. “Our solution not only addresses the storage challenge, but efficiently and safely stores compressed hydrogen or CNG fuel onboard a vehicle without impacting passenger or cargo space.”

The Noble Gas high-pressure, lightweight storage and delivery system can accommodate the most common compressed gases, including natural gas, air, oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen. It features a tank comprised of a polymer liner, woven reinforcement and protective outer shell. A safer alternative to other options, the system currently meets burst and hydrogen permeation requirements for 350-bar working pressures and has a leak-before-burst failure mode to eliminate the opportunity for a catastrophic, instantaneous release of high-pressure gas.

Designed with conformability in mind, the gas storage system can be fabricated in a variety of shapes and sizes to be easily integrated into unique and existing product configurations. In addition to the transportation industry, it has applications in defense, aviation, marine and industrial gas industries.

“We are optimistic about the impact our gas storage system can have in transportation and other industries,” added Kondogiani. “We are currently working on a number of development projects with customers and have completed our own proof-of-concept vehicle – a retrofitted 2019 Polaris Ranger EV – to demonstrate the tank in real-world conditions. Although there is additional work to be done to make the storage system production ready and viable for additional markets, we have achieved very important milestones. We have a solid road map to complete the commercialization process and continue to develop solutions for higher pressures.”

Noble Gas Systems:

Noble Gas Systems was founded in 2017. The innovative company, based in Novi, Michigan, is focused on developing a safe, lightweight compressed gas storage system.

TSC Printronix Auto ID Provides Relief to Customers Dealing with Unsupported Printers with Replacement Initiative Using Customizable Printer Language Firmware

News Image

We have already been contacted by quite a few resellers who are urgently looking for alternatives and replacements for their printers. Luckily, we have been able to help work with them closely to develop solutions for their customers and keep their businesses moving forward.

Due to high demand from its partners and their customers, TSC Printronix Auto ID, a leading manufacturer of thermal barcode label printers, announces the launch of a TSC printer replacement initiative to use its advanced printer language firmware to support customers using discontinued or unsupported printer brands in existing printer installations. The initiative provides relief for customers urgently seeking a compatible, cost-effective printer replacement alternative to seamlessly integrate into their existing environment.

TSC has already developed and deployed solutions for end-users through its partners using TSC printer hosted software to help resolve unique printing challenges. The solution allows customers to successfully install TSC printers in the place of previously installed devices, whose manufacturers have either gone out of business or have discontinued products making them virtually impossible to replace.

TSC is expanding this initiative and is working with new partners to develop printing solutions and custom printer language emulations for TSC hardware to support recently unsupported customer applications and provide little to no disruption to their business operation. Customers are finding themselves locked in long-term printer investments or have recently made investments in which support is suddenly unavailable.

“We have already been contacted by quite a few resellers who are urgently looking for alternatives and replacements for their printers,” states Ken Chou, Director of Engineering at TSC Printronix Auto ID, “Luckily, we have been able to help work with them closely to develop solutions for their customers and keep their businesses moving forward. We enjoy this type of work – coming up with solutions to unique challenges. It’s something we do almost every day.”

The printer replacement initiative is made possible by TSC’s innovative and customizable TSPL-EZD firmware. The firmware has the ability to receive another printer’s label commands, interpret them, and print new labels seamlessly. TSPL-EZD firmware and its accompanying DiagTool application software make it very easy to set up a new TSC printer on an existing network where other printer brands were previously deployed. The custom ability of the firmware allows TSC printers to support most major printer languages and simplifies the replacement of aging printers with affordable and reliable TSC printers. These interpretation capabilities are rapidly being expanded to work with more barcode label printer brands to quickly and seamlessly print a variety of labels, tickets, and receipts.

TSPL-EZD was designed to be powerful, but what makes this initiative unique is the ability for partners to work directly with TSC engineers to customize solutions for their customers. No application is created equal. TSC Printronix Auto ID prides itself on the dedicated, high-level of support it provides its partners. It starts with providing local, real-time support, and then working together to develop real, impactful solutions.

“We are happy to provide custom solutions to support customers, especially those who have an urgent need for printer replacement,” states David Lundeen, Vice President of Marketing at TSC Printronix Auto ID. “We have a thirty-year track record using our standalone printer language to customize and provide unique solutions for customers. This is a major reason why we have grown into a top 5 thermal barcode label printer manufacturer in the AIDC industry.”

OTT Data & CTV Measurement Insights Platform, App Science®, Launches From Stealth

App Science

App Science

App Science®, the CTV insights business, today announced its official launch. App Science possesses one flagship product — Insights Report — a dashboard for brands and their agencies to audit, plan and measure campaigns with proprietary insights from App Science’s device graph of 300 million mobile devices and 110 million connected TV households.

App Science correlates consumer behavior mobile data with connected TV data for individual households, resulting in richer, more sophisticated insights into audiences. The App Science platform can be used to audit existing CTV ad campaigns, as well as develop more advanced audience segments for future media buys.

“App Science empowers modern brands and their agencies with a deep layer of granular insights that are unrivaled in the market today,” said Helen Lum, Executive Vice President of App Science. “Streaming TV viewership is proliferating at a time when people are increasingly making purchases on their mobile devices. These two datasets must be in lockstep to empower modern marketers to design attribution models and execute business outcomes-focused ad buys.”

By combining mobile app data with CTV data, App Science gives a better understanding of specific households being targeted in CTV campaigns, giving brands and their agencies an opportunity to reduce duplication and focus on audience segments that matter most to them. The platform also has extensive CTV and OTT fraud detection that goes beyond verification partners available in the space. App Science previously utilized its household graph to provide proprietary data, audience segmentation, and enhanced insights to Sabio, a Los Angeles-based media and technology company.

“We decided to spin off App Science’s proprietary platform as its own stand-alone SaaS business,” said Aziz Rahim, who serves as CEO of Sabio and Executive Chairman of App Science. “It’s important that any insights platform serving the greater good of the advertising marketplace be free of bias, and we want to ensure that App Science can flourish independent of Sabio’s services business.”

“App Science was created to address the lack of measurement and transparency in the market. Due to most industry leaders using third party data, there was critical campaign intel being omitted, leaving brands with only a fraction of the information needed to make data-driven decisions. By using their own data, App Science is able to provide brands and agencies with more accurate and timely data at a more affordable cost, directly combatting and solving these industry challenges,” added Marka Hinkamp, VP of Sales at App Science. “App Science bridges the gap between mobile and CTV, bringing in an improved and personalized level of understanding to the CTV space.”

The marketplace recently indicated CTV insights-driven companies are in demand. In October 2020, App Science’s chief competitor Tru Optik was acquired by TransUnion. When compared side-by-side, App Science provides an unprecedented level of data compared to other industry players — which leads to more informed, strategic, and sometimes even completely different decisions.

About App Science

App Science measures OTT data & provides actionable insights in one easy-to-use platform. Leading brands and agencies use App Science to measure, analyze and improve their campaigns with proprietary insights from our proprietary household graph of 300 million mobile devices and 110 million connected TV households. App Science is a holding of Sabio, Inc., a Los Angeles-based media and technology company. For more information, visit https://www.appsci.io/.
