Kenall Partners with NASA Spinoff BIOS for New, Biologic Circadian LED Lighting Option

BIOS Illuminated logo

We already have customers who are specifying SkyBlue technology and we expect as other companies strive to meet WELL™ Building Standards, they will also.

Today, Kenall debuted a new circadian lighting option from BIOS: SkyBlue™, a proprietary circadian solution designed by NASA to promote better sleep, better energy, and better health.

BIOS SkyBlue is a unique, biologic solution that works by using a “sky blue” (490nm) wavelength, which is found in daylight but is missing from most traditional LED lighting systems. SkyBlue 490nm communicates directly with the human body via non-visual photoreceptors in the eye, known as ipRGCs (photosensitive retinal ganglion cells).

ipRGCs contain melanopsin, a protein, which, when stimulated by light, sends a signal to the body to reset its cycle for the next 24 hours. This triggers several biological processes, including the production of cortisol for morning alertness, and melatonin for a restful night’s sleep. The BIOS SkyBlue spectrum optimizes this natural process without complicated controls, energy-sapping increases in illumination, or uncomfortable color temperature changes.

Kenall’s Product Marketing Manager, Lynn Walldorf, is enthusiastic about the partnership: “We already have customers who are specifying SkyBlue technology and we expect as other companies strive to meet WELL™ Building Standards, they will also. Our goal is to offer options across many of our markets, including healthcare, behavioral health and cleanroom.” BIOS SkyBlue contributes toward satisfying Circadian Lighting Design Feature 54 under the WELL Building Standard™ v1, and Feature L03 under the WELL Building Standard v2.

Kitov.ai Combines 3D coverage, Intelligent Robotic planner and Deep Learning for KITOV Smart Visual Inspection Solutions

KITOV ONE

“KITOV ONE allows manufacturers to easily deploy a trainable system that leverages both deep learning and traditional machine vision techniques to inspect any type of product,” says Kitov’s Corey Merchant, Vice President, Americas.

Israeli-based smart visual inspection company Kitov.ai introduces its KITOV ONE inspection system to North America. A novel, hybrid approach combining 3D image acquisition and classic vision technology with deep learning image processing technologies, the system is trainable to inspect virtually any product without the need for expertise in vision programming, robotics, or optics, all while boosting overall quality and driving ROI.

“Many OEMs currently use automation and quality assurance systems, but leveraging these traditional machine vision technologies, customized for a specific product may not be possible when dealing with highly variable, multicomponent products, for example,” says Kitov’s Corey Merchant, Vice President, Americas. “KITOV ONE allows manufacturers to easily deploy a trainable system that leverages both deep learning and traditional machine vision techniques to inspect any type of product.”

Setting up a new inspection plan for a product is simple and intuitive and begins with either a CAD file or a full 3D scan of a reference part. The Kitov system then generates a 3D model, a digital twin of the physical product. Kitov.ai’s system uses a camera with multiple lighting elements to capture multiple images and cope with different types of material and shapes. Based on spatial data collected by the camera, KITOV ONE software automatically dictates camera position, robot arm movement, and rotating table for an optimal inspection plan.

Kitov also provides optional software tools to support the production process including the Kitov Smart Planner, Kitov Review Station, and Kitov Analytics. The Kitov Smart Planner enables preparation of new inspection plans offline. The Kitov Review Station supports the flow of faulty products and provides a remote inspection review tool from a central location. Kitov Analytics meanwhile, collects data on inspection results, images of defects as well as defect-free products for post-inspection analysis, identifying trends and providing quality insights.

KITOV ONE can be deployed into disparate inspection applications in various markets, including high-end electronics, automotive, defense & aerospace, and medical devices.

For more information, visit http://www.kitov.ai or email Corey Merchant at: corey.merchant@kitov.ai.

“Prescriptive” Low-Code adds Value Beyond Speedy App Delivery

Prescriptive Low-Code: The New Quest To Marry the Best of Packaged And Custom Apps

Ultimus embraced the prescriptive low-code philosophy for process-automation apps before the approach had a name.

Ultimus announced today that Forrester Research, in their recent report Prescriptive Low-Code: The New Quest To Marry the Best of Packaged And Custom Apps, has described Ultimus as one of the vendors driving the next advance in low-code software development – Prescriptive Low-Code.

According to Forrester, “Prescriptive low-code platforms combine the best of packaged applications – pre-built and pre-architected solutions to specific business problems – with the best of development platforms – tools to create solutions that reflect what makes an enterprise unique”. Forrester calls this new concept’s advantages – speed of delivery, application integrity, performance, and flexibility – “irresistible” and forecasts it to catch on in some form.

Leigh Michl, Ultimus Chairman & CEO, said “We are pleased that this Forrester report recognizes that “Ultimus embraced the prescriptive low-code philosophy for process-automation apps before the approach had a name.” As the only established player in the category, we’ve proven to our global customer base that it’s the way to deliver complex, highly tailored apps faster, with higher quality, and, of course, cheaper. And it ensures that business processes are digitized in a way that keeps them aligned with the goals of digital transformation.”
