Mode Introduces Visual Explorer

Visual Explorer enables analysts and data scientists to deliver information and insights to inform business decisions faster than ever before

“Building upon Mode’s unique ability to combine BI and Data Science, Visual Explorer brings together the workflows of analysts and business users in a way that has never been done before,” said Benn Stancil, Chief Analytics Officer, Mode.

Mode Analytics, the most comprehensive platform for collaborative Business Intelligence (BI) and interactive Data Science, today introduced Visual Explorer, a new flexible visualization system that helps analysts explore data faster and provide easy-to-interpret insights to business stakeholders.

“Visual Explorer is a best-in-class visualization suite powered by Helix, Mode’s award-winning responsive data engine,” said Benn Stancil, Co-founder and Chief Analytics Officer, Mode. “Building upon Mode’s unique ability to combine BI and Data Science, Visual Explorer brings together the workflows of analysts and business users in a way that has never been done before. This capability is critical to answering questions quickly, and advancing knowledge across the organization.”

Inspired by the Grammar of Graphics framework, Visual Explorer enables analysts and data scientists to deliver information and insights to inform business decisions faster than ever before. By enabling anyone to explore and describe data visually across multiple dimensions, it empowers data teams to iterate on data-heavy visualizations with ease. The drag-and-drop interface also enables business stakeholders to answer their own follow-up questions, rather than overwhelming the data team with frequent requests.

“With Mode’s new Visual Explorer feature, we can do everything we need within the platform,” said Neil Chainani, Data Science Lead, Square Cash App. “This saves time for my team and empowers us to do our jobs better.”

With Visual Explorer, data teams can flexibly explore data and easily create expressive visualizations with pivot tables, faceted charts, and other dynamic options. It also allows business stakeholders to perform table calculations and aggregations without code, providing them with greater ability to produce individual insights and answer common questions about audience segmentation, pricing, product prototyping and more.

“Mode has always pushed to bring Analysts and Data Scientists closer to their business counterparts in the name of better, faster decision making,” said Derek Steer, Co-founder and CEO, Mode. “Visual Explorer is a critical piece of that puzzle, enabling faster collaboration in greater depth than ever before.”

Reveleer, a leading cloud-based platform empowering data-driven healthcare, today announced that it has secured $65 million in funding led by Oak HC/FT. Oak HC/FT is joining previous investors including Upfront Ventures and Boston Millennia Partners. The funding will enable Reveleer to expand its platform capabilities and further its mission to help health plans obtain an accurate picture of their covered members’ health and improve the quality and accuracy of data-driven programs.

Reveleer helps prevent incomplete, untimely, or erroneous data by providing health plans with a powerful self-service platform to gather, extract and analyze member and provider data. By bringing complex Risk Adjustment and Quality Improvement programs in-house, healthcare insurers gain total control over processes that have been traditionally managed by their vendors. This flexibility results in increased data transparency, productivity, and agility; all while delivering decreased costs and better outcomes for their members.

To date, the Reveleer platform has supported some of the nation’s largest health plans in their efforts to automate complex processes related to Risk Adjustment and Quality Improvement programs, and to bring the management of those programs in-house. Within one year of onboarding the platform, Reveleer’s leading technology enabled a national healthcare insurer to manage their data acquisition and review process all in-house, leveraging Reveleer’s platform to manage multiple integrated technologies, and currently expanding usage across multiple use cases.

“At Oak HC/FT, we’re always seeking to partner with companies that are addressing the leading challenges in healthcare, and there’s an urgent need for automation to reduce inefficiencies and unnecessary costs,” said Andrew Adams, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Oak HC/FT. “We’re looking forward to supporting Reveleer as it continues to expand its capabilities and reach as the industry increasingly shifts to value-based care.”

Through M&A, strategic partnerships, and further development of Reveleer’s proprietary technology, the Company will look to enhance its platform through more efficient data retrieval methods, insight analytics, and submission capabilities.

“Since backing Reveleer from the Series A, it’s been incredible to watch the team scale rapidly and become a leading platform to large, national payers,” said Kevin Zhang, Partner at Upfront Ventures. “We are excited to continue supporting the team as they seek to accelerate growth both organically and through acquisitions.”

Apcela Announces Multicloud Extension in the Arcus Platform

Multicloud is the next step to optimizing network applications and performance in the cloud

Apcela, a leading innovator in software-defined, cloud-optimized network services, is expanding the Arcus platform to include a Multicloud solution. The Arcus platform enables enterprises to seamlessly integrate core data centers, regional offices, and remote users with SaaS and IaaS Providers, all as a service.

Multicloud is an approach that utilizes multiple cloud computing and storage services sourced from more than one vendor in a single architecture. More often to not, this refers to utilizing two or more public clouds as well as multiple private clouds. Benefits include reduced reliance on any single vendor, selection of best-of-breed capabilities, cost-efficiencies, increased flexibility, and more.

The movement towards Multicloud is not new – in a recent Gartner survey of public cloud users, 81% of respondents say they are working with two or more cloud providers(1). One of the biggest use cases is for enterprises using cloud services across multiple geographies.

“Essentially, with such a distribution of cloud services, the aim is to eliminate the reliance on any single cloud provider while also increasing the scope and spread of services,” shared Kunal Thakkar, Head of Solutions Engineering at Apcela. “During countless discovery calls, design & engineering sessions, and technical discussions with customers and prospects, the Apcela team of engineers and architects have discovered that a majority of customers would like to have a select group of vendors provide various functional stacks for Multicloud.”

At the center of Apcela’s solution is the Arcus Platform, a software-defined approach to the multi-cloud environment which consists of Arcus Connect, Arcus Secure, and Arcus Intelligence. The Multicloud solution incorporates private fiber connectivity to Cloud/SaaS regions (cloud on-ramps). And orchestration of standardized network and security transit architectures at the AppHubs and in public CSP (Cloud Service Provider) infrastructure to offer the most cost optimal means of achieving Multicloud connectivity while maintaining security and compliance requirements.

The Arcus Platform and Multicloud expansion relies on AppHubs, virtual data centers in the cloud. Instead of having one or two premise-based data centers per region, we manage a dynamic, global footprint of over 60 AppHubs around the world. Instead of taking months or years to build out, we can stand-up a customer in days. Additionally, proximity to end users is key when it comes to application performance.

“Apcela’s Arcus platform is built ground-up to integrate various solutions in a modular manner depending on the needs and preferences of the customers who have existing investments. We can lift and shift stacks to the cloud, and extend the reach of their networks,” says Thakkar. “Multicloud is the next step to optimizing network applications and performance in the cloud.”

“Having the combined power and momentum of what our individual organizations and teams have built over the last 10+ years coming together will strengthen our united value proposition and connectivity solution stack for the IoT market,” said Chris Baird, CEO of OptConnect.

OptConnect, a longtime leader in managed wireless services, today announced it has acquired Silicon Valley-based Premier Wireless Solutions (“PWS”), a leading IoT network solutions provider who is a top-tier partner with the world’s most sophisticated IoT hardware and wireless providers.

The acquisition will allow the two complementary and innovative organizations to add additional strategic capabilities, product lines, and service capabilities, while also providing opportunities to scale with greater end-market diversification and global reach. Together, the two organizations will be able to provide a full range of hardware and connectivity options, along with a full continuum of managed services to support customers in their specific business needs. Whether customers are looking for a custom solution they can manage on their own or a fully managed solution they can effectively outsource in a Connectivity-as-a-Service model, the two organizations will have the expertise, resources, and platforms to facilitate it all.

Founded in 2003, PWS has become a leading IoT solutions provider serving the M2M/IoT market and executes on all aspects of IoT network deployments including network design, hardware procurement, software configuration, staging, API integration, device certification, implementation, management, and support. With experience serving many different IoT verticals and markets including digital signage, primary internet applications, utilities, asset tracking, EV charging, and medical markets, PWS is well positioned to continue to grow their strong base of blue-chip customers.

Since 2009, OptConnect’s Connectivity-as-a-Service model has changed the way OEMs, operators, and deployers can get their equipment connected to the internet reliably without the expertise or expense of having to do it on their own. Many people try to incorporate an IoT solution into their organization and connectivity challenges have proven to be a big hindrance in those endeavors. OptConnect is like hitting the easy button for IoT connectivity.

“Having the combined power and momentum of what our individual organizations and teams have built over the last 10+ years coming together will strengthen our united value proposition and connectivity solution stack for the IoT market,” said Chris Baird, CEO of OptConnect.

PWS will continue to operate under the Premier Wireless Solutions name, but will be branded as an OptConnect company. Their office in San Jose, California will remain open and Vince Giacomini, founder of PWS, will serve as President of the PWS business unit.

“We are excited to join the OptConnect family,” said Giacomini. “They have built an incredible fully managed solution for their customers and now that we can add our solutions, services, global carrier integrations, and hardware options into the mix we will provide a greater spectrum of options for customers.”

OptConnect’s comprehensive solution includes proprietary hardware, 24/7/365 carrier monitoring and help desk with one-call resolution and service-level agreements (SLAs) on response time, multicarrier support, device and device management analytics, hardware warranties, IoT professional services, and a wealth of other capabilities that help companies move their IoT projects to market quickly and cost-effectively. PWS has demonstrated strong competency in the consult, design, build, testing, rollout, and deployment of custom connectivity solutions through partnerships with Cradlepoint, Sierra Wireless, CalAmp, Digi, and many others. Together they will be able to support a wider and more global base of customers with solutions that appeal to the unique demands and requirements for each customer and use case.

The strategic acquisition of PWS by OptConnect brings two companies together with one goal of providing a single connectivity partner for all of a customer’s IoT connectivity needs, ranging from totally custom solutions to off-the-shelf fully managed plug-and-play functionality around the world.
