Liberty IT Solutions Awarded $2MM Real Time Location System (RTLS) Enterprise Systems Engineering (ESE) Sustainment Task Order

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has awarded Liberty IT Solutions, LLC with the Real Time Location System (RTLS) Enterprise Systems Engineering (ESE) Sustainment task order. RTLS ESE is a 36-month, $2 million task order in which Liberty will deliver software maintenance lifecycle support patches that address RTLS ESE corrective, preventative, adaptive, and perfective maintenance requirements. Liberty has partnered with Perspecta on this task order.

Bill Greene, CEO of Liberty, says of the win: “The sustainment of the RTLS ESE interfaces is an important task that Liberty is looking forward to working on alongside VA and Perspecta. We are excited to sustain this key initiative that aligns with our goal to maintain a higher standard of Health IT for Veterans.”

RTLS works by integrating independent systems together. These systems collectively enable RTLS to serve as a means for tracking equipment, supplies, and patients inside VA medical facilities. The RTLS ESE interfaces transfer and transpose data between RTLS and Veterans Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) for assets, patients, and employees. These interfaces support hospital business functions including: searching employee and patient data, inventory supply synchronization, and equipment synchronization. Liberty will maintain and support these interfaces with the help and expertise of Perspecta, the contractor responsible for designing, developing, and deploying the original RTLS ESE interfaces.

Vectorworks, Inc. Announces 2020 Version of BIM and Design Software

News Image

Vectorworks 2020 is centered around providing our customers with intuitive ways to use the powerful tools of our products, while also offering more practical ways to incorporate the use of data for an improved and insightful design workflow.

Global design and BIM software provider Vectorworks, Inc. announces the 2020 release of Vectorworks Architect, Landmark, Spotlight, Designer and Fundamentals, as well as 2020 versions of Vision and Braceworks. This newest release brings improved software performance, quality enhancements and new data-driven workflows.

“Data and usability are the cornerstones of this year’s product line enhancements,” said Vectorworks CEO Dr. Biplab Sarkar. “When we looked at the future of the industry and what our customers’ needs were, we kept coming back to data, particularly data-driven insights. Vectorworks 2020 is centered around providing our customers with intuitive ways to use the powerful tools of our products, while also offering more practical ways to incorporate the use of data for an improved and insightful design workflow.”

With this focus on insightful design, Vectorworks 2020 extends the existing Data Visualization feature to the design layer environment. This lets customers change objects’ attributes using data parameters to visualize data for error checking, work validation and quality control.

“With Data Visualization now available on design layers, we’re able to keep our attribute assignments consistent between projects, allowing us to quickly and consistently draw attention to relevant design elements,” said Brendan Gray, principal designer and president of Gray Matter Visual, Inc.

Additionally, customers will experience optimized Open BIM capabilities, improved file performance and other updates that include:

  • Increased workflow efficiency with the ability to directly edit fields in a list browser, such as in the Navigation palette or the Organization dialog.
  • Improved file performance and responsiveness of large and complex models with the updated Vectorworks Graphics Module.
  • A new Schematic View workflow to handle the complexity of modeling and documenting rigging workflows in Vectorworks Spotlight.
  • Accurate geolocation of a project with the new Geographic Information System (GIS) toolset and an integration with Esri’s ArcGIS online services.

The English-language editions of Vectorworks, Braceworks and Vision 2020 are available today. The release of localized European, Australian and New Zealand editions will be followed by Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese and Chinese versions. For more information about the availability of Vectorworks 2020 in your market, please contact your local Vectorworks distributor. Noblis Autonomous Vehicle Interoperability Concept Receives 2019 Government – Industry Innovator Award

The Noblis Po8 approach can have a significant impact on public sector endeavors, unmanned systems and the future of human-machine interaction.

Noblis, a leading provider of science, technology and strategy services to the federal government has received a 2019 Government – Industry Innovator award from 1105 Public Sector Media Group for Pieces of Eight (Po8), a trusted autonomous operations system that enables ad hoc collections of autonomous machines to communicate, self-organize, and plan coordinated motions and actions based on trust earned in prior interactions. Noblis will be recognized at the Government Innovation Awards event on Nov. 7. The awards celebrate the transformative public-sector activities from government, industry and individuals that are reimagining public-sector IT, according to 1105 Media.

“We are delighted to be recognized as a leader and innovator in the autonomy at scale arena, one of the many research efforts Noblis has undertaken in the past ten years to study the effects of autonomy on a larger scale – across air, sea, land, space and cyber domains,” said Amr ElSawy, Noblis president and chief executive officer. “Innovation is a common thread at Noblis and programs such as Po8 demonstrate how our forward-thinking research and technical solutions are helping our government customers solve their most complex challenges.”

The Noblis Po8 trusted autonomous operations concept has received significant recognition since its public release, including winning the Highest Potential Impact Award and the Most Creative Award at the MOBI (mobility open blockchain initiative) Grand Challenge in Munich, Germany in February 2019. More info here.

MOBI is a nonprofit global foundation formed to accelerate the adoption of standards in blockchain, distributed ledgers, and related technologies for the benefit of consumers, communities and mobility industries.

“The Noblis Po8 approach can have a significant impact on public sector endeavors, unmanned systems and the future of human-machine interaction,” said Mile Corrigan, vice president Federal Civilian Solutions, Noblis. “Our system enables nearby connected machines – such as autonomous passenger vehicles, autonomous drones or autonomous robots traversing hostile terrain – to share situational awareness regarding obstacles and threats projected over time, and collectively plan actions that avoid collision or other conflicts.”

The Noblis Po8 process links heterogenous autonomous machines using ad hoc networking and blockchain technology to demonstrate the effects of orchestrated autonomy in comparison to isolated autonomy. The Po8 system includes an accountability process of trust scores which are recorded on blockchain technology to help ensure transparency, accuracy and the security of the system.

“Po8 allows pick-up teams of autonomous machines to perform as if they have trained together extensively,” said Karl Wunderlich, Noblis research team lead. “Further, if one machine in the system malfunctions or begins to perform erratically, the team will self-organize to re-assign critical team functions and isolate the compromised machine.”
