Kintone and TechSoup’s Caravan Studios Launch 2019 Social Impact Challenge

https://www.prweb.com/

“Childhood hunger in the U.S. is shameful and needs to be better known and addressed. We are trying to bring focus and solutions to the cause with our 2019 Social Impact Challenge and hope many others will come along and get involved,” said CEO Dave Landa.

Two San Francisco-based organizations, Kintone, the teamwork platform with a visual application builder that empowers organizations to manage their data and workflows for better collaboration, and Caravan Studios, a division of TechSoup, today announced the 2019 Social Impact Challenge. Now in its second year, the purpose of the Social Impact Challenge is to advocate for using technology and teamwork to solve the issues and challenges facing local communities. This annual initiative brings together social change agents who design, build and showcase technologies that directly increase the public good at a community level.

This year, the Social Impact Challenge will focus on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 2 to end hunger by 2030, addressing the youth hunger crisis in the U.S. specifically. Together with Caravan Studios, Kintone will select technology-driven solutions developed by subject matter experts and voted on by the public that will best address the challenge and work toward eradicating childhood hunger.

Attendees of Kintone Connect, a series of free, half-day teamwork, technology and impact conferences held in four cities across the U.S., will learn about and vote on the innovative solution concepts. In collaboration with the winner, Kintone will then build the winning solution, present it at the San Francisco event, and finally give it back to the community to help address the youth hunger issue head-on.

According to No Kid Hungry, more than 12 million children in the United States live in “food insecure” homes and one in six children in the United States lives with hunger.

“It’s shocking that 28% of San Francisco’s youth are at chronic risk of hunger. Taking responsibility and respecting individuality are two core elements of our mission at Kintone, as is helping to create a society brimming with teamwork. Thanks to the teamwork with TechSoup’s Caravan Studios and concerned citizens, we’re humbled and inspired to work together toward addressing this shocking manifestation of societal inequality,” said Dave Landa, CEO, Kintone. “In order to meet the goal of equality, we need to first address basic human needs. Children who struggle with hunger and malnutrition often do not reach their peak potential physically or mentally, and therefore fall into a negative cycle of under-development caused by nutrition deficiency. We need to end that cycle.”

The public can vote for their favorite solution online now by clicking here or in person at one of the following Kintone Connect events:

  • Boston – September 19
  • Chicago – October 9
  • San Francisco – December 12

Tickets for Kintone Connect are available now; space for each event is limited. For more information on the Kintone Connect and to obtain tickets, please visit: http://www.kintoneconnect.com. To find out more about the 2019 Social Impact Challenge and how to get involved, please go to impact.kintone.com.

“Childhood hunger in the U.S. is shameful and needs to be better known and addressed. We are trying to bring focus and solutions to the cause with our 2019 Social Impact Challenge and hope many others will come along and get involved,” Landa added.

the RTB Warsaw MIMotaurs Team for Global Autonomous Drone Racing Competition

https://www.prweb.com/

It’s safe to say that the power of AI is one of the biggest technological advancements in history since it has drastically changed how the world operates in more ways than one, said Gary Burtka, VP of U.S. operations at RTB House.

RTB House, a global company that provides state-of-the-art marketing solutions for top brands worldwide, today announced it will be sponsoring the RTB Warsaw MIMotaurs team that consists of a group of young, talented artificial intelligence (AI) developers from the University of Warsaw for a global autonomous drone racing series, where nine finalist teams out of 400 original teams comprised of technologists, aerospace engineers and drone enthusiasts from across the world will develop and compete with well-developed racing drones powered by AI.

The competition is sponsored by aerospace company Lockheed Martin, and will have participating teams compete to design AI that controls racing drones for a series of challenges and a chance of winning more than $2 million in prizes. An additional $250,000 reward will be given to the first team with a drone controlled by AI to best a human-piloted drone. To learn more about the Drone Racing League, visit this website.

RTB House, with its global headquarters in Warsaw, Poland and marketing capabilities that use an advanced form of deep learning AI to model high-level abstractions in data, understands the value in the future of AI advancements. Its sponsored team from Poland is working to develop a revolutionary AI system is as flexible and intelligent as humans.

“It’s safe to say that the power of AI is one of the biggest technological advancements in history since it has drastically changed how the world operates in more ways than one,” said Gary Burtka, VP of U.S. operations at RTB House. “From AI-powered machines defeating human players in highly competitive games, such as Google’s Deepmind AlphaStar that defeated human champion, Poland’s Grzegorz Komincz, known by his gamer handle MaNa in StarCraft II (as reported by ZDNet), to other AI innovators working to create autonomous vehicles and AI-powered drones that are able to beat humans in a man vs. machine race. The limits of what’s possible with AI continues to evolve rapidly.”

RTB House is proud that Poland is leading the way in the evolution of AI, and sponsoring the RTB Warsaw MIMotaurs is an example of how the company is showing its dedication to supporting the bright future that lies ahead for AI.

“Poland is a hotbed for innovative tech companies and engineers, especially for AI technology, and it’s due to the country’s mass number of graduates in science and technology, along with its dynamic startup ecosystem,” added Burtka. “RTB House is comprised of an innovative, global team that wants to support the AI leaders of tomorrow, and we’re ecstatic to sponsor the RTB Warsaw MIMotaurs and the team’s mission to develop state-of-the-art drone software that’s unlike anything else that’s been developed yet.”

Clinerion and OncologyInformationService Partner on Delivering Real-World Data Services in Oncology to Aggregate Cancer Treatment Data from Each Partner’s Networks

The partnership between Clinerion and OncologyInformationService (O.I.s)) will create a platform for oncology which integrates O.I.s)’s real-world databases with Clinerion’s patient data network, via Clinerion’s patented patient data analytics technologies. The partners aim to establish a real-world evidence (RWE) database from a network of cancer treating institutions which will also allow real-time query of the participating institutions’ electronic medical records (EMRs). This platform will leverage the aggregated data to deliver:

ꟷ epidemiological, clinical and health care research analyses, real world data comparison of treatment algorithms, health economic analyses, identification of target patient groups as requested from pharmaceutical companies for value dossiers and HTAs,

ꟷ an estimation of eligible patients for clinical trial design, identification of sites treating targeted patients, and identification of eligible patients for CROs,

ꟷ real world data analyses for quality of care assessment and epidemiological analysis for medical associations and working groups,

ꟷ quality measurement in cancer care referring to clinical outcomes for treating institutions, and

ꟷ integration of genomic data to complete the clinical data collected in the network.

O.I.s) provides a deep knowledge of treatment algorithms in oncology and hematology and approved methodologies for collection and analyses of treatment algorithms based on longitudinal real-world data from patient files in treating institutions. O.I.s) will provide the Clinerion partnership with access to its established RWE cooperative group consisting of patient organizations and a network of oncologists/hematologists, its real-world databases and its approved methodologies for collecting and analyzing RWE data.

Clinerion’s Patient Network Explorer (PNEx) allows query of anonymized patient data among its network of partner hospitals to generate real-world data based on EMR. In the partnership, Clinerion will provide PNEx technology as the platform to query both partners’ databases, taking advantage of its fast data collection and real-time update capability.

The partners’ new platform will also incorporate genomic technology and PRO/PRE reporting via an additional partnership with Andaman7.

“The partnership with Clinerion will allow O.I.s) to provide unbiased and complete RWE faster than before and to involve cancer-treating institutions, globally. Data collection with the PNEx technology avoids a work-overload for the physicians or HCPs. O.I.s) will use the resulting enormous, combined database for high-end analyses, meeting the information needs from all stakeholders in the fight against cancer,” says Lenka Kellermann, founder and owner of O.I.s).

“This partnership represents a deepening of Clinerion’s commitment to providing our real-world data solutions in the oncology space, which represents 40% of all drug development pipeline expenditure,” says Ian Rentsch, CEO of Clinerion. “Clinerion’s services are otherwise agnostic to treatment area, being based on hospital EMR data.”

For the full overview of the Clinerion/O.I.s) ecosystem of partners and processes, please see the attached graphic.

Clinerion and OncologyInformationService will launch their partnership at a special event at the annual conference of the German Society for Haematology and Medical Oncology (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Hämatologie und Medizinische Onkologie, DGHO), on October 11th-14th, in Berlin, Germany. PlateSmart Technologies Achieves ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification

This certification is just another way we continue to set an example for LPR industry.

Documented processes, ongoing evaluation and continuous improvement: these are the hallmarks of quality in product development. After months of work and a rigorous audit process, PlateSmart Technologies has been recognized for its commitment to quality with ISO 9001:2015 certification.

“ISO 9001 certification is the international gold standard for excellence in quality management,” said John Chigos, CEO, PlateSmart. “Our customers and technology partners already know the high-quality standards to which we hold our license plate recognition (LPR) solutions — the original software-only LPR solutions. This certification is just another way we continue to set an example for LPR industry.”

ISO 9001 is a set of quality-management standards developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Compliance with ISO 9001 means a company has documented processes for product development, deployment and support that ensure customer expectations are met. It also ensures that the company routinely evaluates these processes and implements improvements as necessary.

PlateSmart worked with Perry Johnson Registrars, an accredited third-party certification body, which after conducting a two-stage initial quality management system process-based audit, granted the company ISO 9001:2015 certification.

“ISO 9001 is more than a certification — it is a mindset,” Chigos said. “PlateSmart is committed to quality and continuous improvement every day. The certification also helps bring standardization to the entire industry by keeping companies honest in their claims and avoiding misleading statements such as ‘99-plus percent accuracy.’”

PlateSmart’s ISO 9001:2015 certificate can be viewed at http://bit.ly/PS-ISO9001-cert.

LeaseCrunch® Gives Five Reasons Why Spreadsheets Aren’t the Best Way to Comply With New Lease Accounting Standards

News Image

“Having been to numerous accounting conferences and staying in regular contact with CPA firms, I am surprised that there is still some debate between spreadsheets and software in complying with the new lease accounting standards,” said Ane Ohm, a former Big 4 auditor and now CEO of LeaseCrunch.

LeaseCrunch, the only lease accounting software made by former CPA firm auditors for CPA firm auditors, believes that firms relying on spreadsheets to handle new lease accounting tasks are putting themselves at a serious disadvantage.

“It’s clear to me that spreadsheets are an awkward and risky approach to implementing the new lease accounting requirements.”

1. Spreadsheets can’t help with complex calculations: There are a number of highly complicated aspects of the new standard, especially with regard to the quantitative footnote disclosures that include a weighted average discount rate and weighted average remaining term.

2. Spreadsheets can’t help navigate nuances: Spreadsheets don’t have built-in guidance to add context or provide help along the way. For example, the LeaseCrunch software includes wizards that guide users through appropriate questions to ensure the new lease standard is applied correctly. There are also tooltips available that provide definitions for key terms exactly when a user might need them.

3. Spreadsheets are time-consuming: As mentioned above, with no embedded calculations or processes in a spreadsheet, it becomes far more time-consuming to manage all the components.

4. Spreadsheets make version and calculation control difficult: When multiple departments and people are responsible for lease data, it can be difficult to share spreadsheets and have confidence that everyone is using the latest version.

5. Spreadsheets offer little security: A spreadsheet has no built-in validation and minimal security options, like password protections and encrypted data. To quote an audit partner I recently spoke with: “We do not want to have to audit spreadsheets.”

About LeaseCrunch

Named by Accounting Today as one of the top new products of 2019, LeaseCrunch provides cloud-based lease accounting software for CPA firms, designed to help organizations implement the new lease accounting standards, ASC 842 and IFRS 16. Designed by CPAs, former Big 4 public accounting auditors, software development veterans and a former member of the FASB staff, the application offers an easy-to-use customer interface that delivers “audit in a box” lease accounting services, reducing the time it takes clients to prepare for an audit. LeaseCrunch allows companies to identify policy elections for the leasing standard through templates for both US GAAP and IFRS. For more information go to: http://www.LeaseCrunch.com.
