cloudtamer.io logo

Our Compliance Jumpstarts now come out-of-the-box and can be quickly applied across all the cloud accounts in the enterprise.

cloudtamer.io today announced the initial release of its Compliance Jumpstarts for Amazon Web Services (AWS) to expedite customer efforts in meeting various industry security and compliance standards. The initial release of the cloudtamer.io Compliance Jumpstarts includes both the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-171 Rev. 1 as well as the Center for Internet Security (CIS) AWS Foundation Benchmark v1.2.0. The NIST 800-171 standard defines how non-federal systems and organizations should safeguard and distribute non-classified sensitive material. The CIS Benchmark for AWS provides best practices to secure cloud accounts.

cloudtamer.io’s Compliance Jumpstarts deliver two key capabilities to customers:

  • A comprehensive mapping of the compliance security controls against AWS- and cloudtamer.io-inherent capabilities. The Compliance Jumpstarts also provide guidance on capabilities that can be achieved via cloudtamer.io Cloud Rules.
  • A resource library of pre-defined cloudtamer.io Cloud Rules that contain AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies and AWS CloudFormation templates to help meet NIST 800-171 and CIS Benchmark standards. These Cloud Rules can be bulk uploaded via API to the customer’s cloudtamer.io instance.

“The initial release of cloudtamer.io’s Compliance Jumpstarts represents our commitment to simplify security and compliance in the cloud for our customers. We have seen organizations struggle with understanding, implementing, and documenting the necessary controls within AWS to better secure their cloud account configuration. Our Compliance Jumpstarts now come out-of-the-box and can be quickly applied across all the cloud accounts in the enterprise,” said Brian Price, cloudtamer.io CEO. “Along with our constantly evolving library of Cloud Rules to proactively enforce compliance and security standards, our Compliance Jumpstarts help everyone hit the ground running to better implement and align best practices to their governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC) controls.”

The cloudtamer.io Compliance Jumpstarts for NIST SP 800-171 Rev. 1 and CIS AWS Benchmark v1.2.0 are available now to all cloudtamer.io customers.

Boeing Selects VT MAK and Antycip Simulation to Provide Core Technology for the Defence Operational Training Capability (Air) Core System and Services Contract

We look forward to working with Boeing and Antycip Simulation to deliver a comprehensive networked training capability to the Royal Air Force.

ST Engineering today announced that Boeing Defence UK has chosen the simulation and visualization software of its subsidiaries VT MAK and Antycip Simulation as core components of its Defence Operational Training Capability (Air) (DOTC A)) Core System and Services (DCS&S) contract.

Based on the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) requirements, VT MAK and Antycip Simulation will deliver and support commercial off the shelf (COTS) products that get capabilities into the hands of customers as early as possible, while incrementally adding new capabilities.

Bill Cole, President and CEO of VT MAK, said, “VT MAK is excited to have been awarded this crucial contract by Boeing Defence UK. We look forward to working with Boeing and Antycip Simulation to deliver a comprehensive networked training capability to the Royal Air Force. This win, along with our recent U.S. Army Synthetic Training Environment (STE) award, firmly positions VT MAK as the leader in providing COTS products for distributed simulation in both the air and land domains.”

Michael Pronier, CEO of Antycip Simulation, added, “Antycip Simulation is thrilled to have been awarded this important contract by Boeing Defence UK. It builds on our established heritage and leadership in the European simulation community, itself built in no small part on the quality, range and capability of VT MAK’s products. The Antycip team is already working hard on delivery for Boeing UK and the Royal Air Force.”

The DCS&S contract will see the creation of Gladiator, a capability that will support multiple complex training scenarios, simultaneously and independently of each other. The system will allow personnel at different sites to train together in their own high-fidelity simulators, linked by a secure network to a new hub at RAF Waddington.

The system will securely manage training events across locations and classification levels, allowing RAF crews to experience the same battle environment and threats, including joint training with their counterparts in the U.S..

MAK products provide off-the-shelf functionality, ease-of-use, open architecture, modularity, and support for open standards. Antycip Simulation will customize, enhance, deliver and support MAK COTS products for DCS&S. High fidelity flight and electronic warfare models will be integrated into VR-Forces by VT MAK and Antycip partner, RTDynamics. VR-Forces, VR-Vantage, and VR-Engage will become the DCS&S Common Computer Generated Forces, Common Image Generator, and Common Role Players, and will be the primary tools to support the exercise preparation and execution of DOTC (A) exercises managed by Boeing and the Inzpire White Force.

VT MAK to Exhibit MAK ONE, a Synthetic Training Environment at I/ITSEC

We are proud to show I/ITSEC attendees the power of MAK software in every domain — land, sea, air and space.”

VT MAK, a company of ST Engineering North America, today announced the demonstration of a synthetic training environment composed of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software from the MAK ONE suite at I/ITSEC 2019 from 2 to 5 December 2019. The demonstration will highlight the flexible capability of MAK simulation products in meeting requirements of a large variety of training systems in all domains. Taking place at VT MAK’s booth (#1322), the demonstration will enable attendees to participate in a tactical exercise and learn the modularity and comprehensiveness of the MAK ONE platform.

This year, MAK ONE was selected by the U.S. Army as a best-of-breed technology to meet the operational requirements of the Synthetic Training Environment (STE) Common Synthetic Environment (CSE). It was also selected by Boeing Defence UK as a core technology for the Defence Operational Training Capability (Air) (DOTC(A)) Core System and Services (DCS&S) contract. These examples illustrate two very different ways that MAK ONE can be integrated into a customer’s solution — the applications can be used directly as system components or the core technologies can be integrated to build custom applications within the customer’s specific architecture.

“I am happy to see such a wide variety of customers choosing the MAK ONE platform for its capabilities, performance, and scale,” said Bill Cole, President and CEO of VT MAK. “We are proud to show I/ITSEC attendees the power of MAK software in every domain — land, sea, air and space.”

The MAK ONE demonstration at I/ITSEC will include the ability to cohesively set up and manage the training scenario, simulate all the training roles, as well as record and present the results. VR-Engage, VT MAK’s multi-role virtual simulator, will have a central role in the integrated training system. It will be used to play first-person roles of Driver, Gunner, Dismounted Soldier, Commander, Pilot, and Sensor Operator.

VT MAK will be demonstrating performance advancements, improved scalability, and new capabilities developed this year across their product suite at six different stations. The MAK ONE suite is also hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to illustrate the accessibility of MAK products through cloud deployment. New scalability prototypes that pave the way to simulations with a million entities will also be showcased. VR-Vantage IG will be running on a large screen that will display the latest, most vivid scenes from VR-Vantage IG, as well as support for the latest Common Image Generator Interface protocol and host control. The VR-Engage station will feature a demonstration of VT MAK’s support for head mounted displays, so visitors can learn how VR-Vantage and VR-Engage facilitate users in developing Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality applications.

VT MAK will be holding a seminar on Tuesday, 3 December from 9-11 am at the Rosen Center, Salon 1. Danny Williams will discuss VT MAK’s participation in the CSE portion of the US Army’s STE program, while Pete Swan will describe how MAK ONE will be used in the UK MOD’s DCS&S project. Next, VT MAK’s Vice President of Products, Jim Kogler, will share what VT MAK has accomplished this year as well as what is in store for the future.

Danny Williams will be presenting at the Innovation Showcase on Wednesday, 4 December, at 9:30 am. The subject of his talk will be MAK ONE, and how its capabilities and architecture are used as a foundation to meet the needs of the U.S. Army’s STE CSE.

“Voice of the Workplace” Pulse from NCHRA and Waggl Points to a Gap in the Use of Technology to Increase Employee Engagement

Infographic from the Voice of the Workplace Pulse

Using Waggl’s transparent engagement platform, thousands of HR professionals from organizations of all sizes, including attendees of NCHRA’s HRTechXpo 2019, were invited to participate in the Voice of

“Although technology is no substitute for one-to-one human interaction, it can be beneficial for boosting employee engagement and performance by giving everyone in the organization a voice,” said Alex Kinnebrew, Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Growth Strategy, Waggl.

The Next Concept Human Resource Association (NCHRA), and Waggl, the leading platform for real-time feedback powered by Employee Voice, today released their newest “Voice of the Workplace” pulse on the subject of technology and engagement.

Using Waggl’s transparent engagement platform, thousands of HR professionals from organizations of all sizes, including attendees of NCHRA’s HRTechXpo 2019, were invited to participate in the pulse from August 1-October 1, 2019. Of those who participated, 92% agreed with the following statement: “I would like my organization to create a strong internal culture that impacts results.” In addition, another 81% agreed with the statement, “If my organization invested in people-focused programs and skills such as onboarding, performance, and employee engagement, we would have a more positive impact on revenues and profit margins.” By way of contrast, only 45% of participants agreed with this statement: “My organization is using technology to improve employee engagement.”

“In Northern California, where NCHRA and Waggl are based, we have a technology-driven economy in which many companies are subject to rapid growth and disruption” said Lisa Hickey, Vice President of Professional Development, NCHRA. “Given the volatility of the business climate, it’s not surprising that the vast majority of our members want their organizations to create strong internal cultures that are agile and resilient enough to withstand constant change. Given that backdrop, we are a bit surprised that only 45% of members say that their organizations are currently using technology to improve employee engagement.”

NCHRA and Waggl also posed the open-ended question, “Do you view employee use of social media and gamification platforms as tools to increase employee engagement?” Crowdsourced responses were distilled into a ranked list. Here are the top three responses:

  • “I think both those tools can be beneficial, but it also needs to be based on the type of company, demographics and how agreeable employees are to change or something new.”
  • “Yes, creating a community online and showing off our team and company culture not only makes the work environment feel comfortable but also attracts others to want to know what our ‘secret sauce’ is that makes working for our company the best.”
  • “Social media interaction used for employee engagement is a positive. Gamification of interaction could also have a positive impact as long as it is not viewed as a nuisance and a distraction from accomplishing job tasks.”

Waggl is a real-time engagement platform that goes beyond measurement to catalyze authentic dialogue and alignment around critical business topics: Culture, Experience, Vision and Execution. Waggl elevates Employee Voice to deliver actionable insight, fresh perspective, and tangible knowledge to leaders and teams.

“From the responses to this pulse, it’s clear that HR practitioners recognize the value of creating a strong internal culture, and want their organizations to invest in people-focused programs and skills,” said Alex Kinnebrew, Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Growth Strategy, Waggl. “Although technology is no substitute for one-to-one human interaction, it can be beneficial for boosting employee engagement and performance by giving everyone in the organization a voice. In order for employees to be truly engaged, they need to feel free to express their ideas, share their knowledge and know that their opinions matter. When organizations give employees an opportunity to participate in the dialogue about topics that matter (e.g. culture, experience, vision and execution), they feel more connected to the workplace and empowered to drive change.”

Adzooma Integrates Microsoft Into Their PPC Platform Alongside Facebook & Google

News Image

“Adzooma is a really exciting and refreshing concept. With technology that never stops advancing, they have proven that even the smallest of businesses can achieve enormous success with the right platform.” – Lynne Kjolso

Alongside Google and Facebook Ads, the new Microsoft integration will make Adzooma the all-in-one solution for businesses worldwide.

This comes just four months after a £2m investment from a US investment firm and will significantly increase their brand profile and propel them towards their goal of becoming an industry leader in advertising technology.

“We are extremely honoured to announce our partnership with Microsoft,” said director and co-founder Rob Wass. Working with Google and Facebook allows us to provide the utmost value to our customers, so we are excited to offer them even more through the Microsoft integration.

“For our users, being able to manage and optimise Microsoft, Google and Facebook Ads in one platform will make optimisation easier and quicker than ever before, removing any barriers between them and their competitors.”

The Microsoft Advertising partner program recognises expertise within the search industry to celebrate growth and provide exclusive access to partner events.

Integrating Microsoft into the platform will give Adzooma the weight to leverage new strategies, act upon the latest trends and gain insight into high-level innovations.

Lynne Kjolso, VP, Global Corporate Sales at Microsoft, said: “Adzooma is a really exciting and refreshing concept. With technology that never stops advancing, they have proven that even the smallest of businesses can achieve enormous success with the right platform.

“Seeing how much they’ve achieved over the past 12 months gives us confidence in their ability to succeed”.

Since becoming a Google Partner in July 2018, the Nottingham-based company cruised past its original target by 3,000% and maintained consistent triple-digit quarterly growth. Within that time, they also secured two multi-million-pound investments from business magnate Fred Done which allowed them to invest heavily in product development.

Director and co-founder David Sharpe added: “As well as broadening our solutions for businesses, the Microsoft partnership helps validate that the Adzooma team are achieving their mission to make online advertising more accessible, easier and more effective for all businesses.”

Engineering Exam Prep Company Revamps PE Mechanical Course As Scantrons Go Extinct

“Change is always hard, especially when someone is preparing for an exam that has an affect on his or her career” C. Miller

Scantrons and number two pencils are slowly becoming less and less popular for testing as computer testing becomes the preferred testing method in many industries- including the engineering industry.

In fact, the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), an engineering licensing company, has been in the process of migrating all of their licensure exams to the computer-based exam format since 2014. Now, all Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exams, the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) Chemical, and PE Environmental, and other exams are being offered only via the new Computer-Based Testing (CBT) format.

NCEES’s PE Mechanical is one of the next exams to be transitioned to the CBT format; the exam to transition in April of 2020.

The PE Mechanical exam is the exam that one must take and pass to become a licensed Mechanical Engineer. Most of the time, examinees must have also taken and passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam prior to taking the PE exam.

While the upcoming PE Mechanical exam changes do worry many examinees, Chris Miller, the Association Vice President at School of PE, is confident that the exam prep company will sufficiently prepare its students for the PE Mechanical exam despite the changes.

“Everytime an exam changes to the CBT exam, our students show concern for how they are to prepare for their exam,” Miller said. “At School of PE, we want to ensure that our students get the best resources possible to pass their exams- whether it’s still in the traditional pencil and paper format or has transitioned to a CBT.

School of PE, an exam review company dedicated to prepare its students for various NCEES licensure exams, has been offering engineer review courses since 2004. School of PE has a track record of high student pass rates. For the Spring 2019 PE Mechanical exam, which was offered in the traditional pencil and paper format in April 2019, School of PE students achieved an average pass rate of 87% while the national pass rate for the exam was 72%.

Miller explained that School of PE has already went through many CBT transitions with other courses prior to the PE Mechanical transition, including the PE Chemical exam, the PE Environmental Exam, and all FE exams.

“Every time an exam is transitioned to the CBT format, I meet with School of PE’s instructors to go over how we will approach the change. We’ll evaluate the exam specifications, discuss strategy, and talk about if we need to restructure a course for the change” said Miller. “Typically, the exam content doesn’t necessarily change due to a CBT migration, but we want to make sure we make our students as comfortable with the new testing format as we can.”

When asked about how School of PE specifically prepares students for CBT exams, Miller mentioned School of PE’s Practice Portal- a feature that the business released in 2018.

The Practice Portal features a bank of practice problems for students to test their knowledge. The practice problems closely mimic NCEES’ CBT experience. To accommodate the upcoming updates to the PE Mechanical exam, School of PE will be launching questions specifically for the exam in January of 2019. The Practice Portal will be a free feature those who sign up for a PE Mechanical Ondemand or Live Online exam review course.

“Change is always hard, especially when someone is preparing for an exam that has an affect on his or her career,” Miller said. “But, if we can create an exam-like experience for our students, I think we will give them the experience necessary to confidently walk into their exam.”

Rhythmic Technologies Deploys Delta Risk’s ActiveEye Managed Security Platform for Clients Using AWS

News Image

“Rhythmic’s clients are building and running critical applications in the cloud. By partnering with Delta Risk, we can help them better protect those applications with strong monitoring and response capabilities.”

Today, Rhythmic Technologies, a DevOps infrastructure management company, announced that it has partnered with Delta Risk, a leading provider of SOC-as-a-Service and security services, to offer advanced AWS managing and monitoring features. By incorporating Delta Risk’s cloud-native Security Orchestration Automation and Response (SOAR) platform known as ActiveEye in its offering, clients can now avoid data breaches caused by AWS (Amazon Web Services) misconfigurations and external attacks.

“Rhythmic’s clients are building and running critical applications in the cloud,” said Cristopher Daniluk, founder and chief executive officer, Rhythmic Technologies. “By partnering with Delta Risk, we can help them better protect those applications with strong monitoring and response capabilities.”

This new offering is for Rhythmic clients using real-time monitoring and response for AWS GuardDuty, AWS Config, AWS CloudTrail, OS security/audit event logs, and application hooks. The responsibility for configuring platforms like AWS to identify atypical behavior is left to the users, who sometimes struggle to set up the platform to effectively protect them against breaches that can expose sensitive data.

“Rhythmic Technologies and Delta Risk complement each other very well, and we are excited about the positive impact this will have on Rhythmic Technologies’ clients,” said Mike Warren, vice president of Cyber Resiliency Services, Delta Risk. “The ActiveEye platform eliminates more than 95 percent of false positives from thousands of daily security alerts generated by AWS and other cloud providers. Rhythmic Technologies will now be able to offer enhanced managed security services for mission-critical cloud infrastructure.”

Next-generation endpoint detection and response solutions, network security information and event management (SIEM), cloud applications, and cloud infrastructure generate thousands of alerts daily. With ActiveEye 2.0, customers can view and manage them all or have Delta Risk SOC analysts manage them. Advanced security automation processes the majority of alerts, so Delta Risk SOC analysts can focus on the most complex and critical alerts, taking that load off of in-house teams.

About Delta Risk

Delta Risk is breaking the mold for managed security, delivering Security Operations Center (SOC)-as-a-Service and security services that bridge the gap to a modern security approach. We enable any size organization to leverage our expert security operations team and respond to endpoint, network, and cloud security threats 24×7. ActiveEye, our proprietary platform, uses Security Orchestration Automation and Response (SOAR) to cut through the noise and address the most critical threats faster. The ActiveEye Portal is the cornerstone of our customer-centric approach, providing clients a transparent view into SOC activities and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that demonstrate the value of our co-managed security approach.
