Your Personal Safety and Home Security for the New Year

Alert 360 Home Security tips for 2020

Alert 360 Home Security tips for 2020

New Year Home Security and Secure Shopping Tips

Most security steps are common sense, but it’s easy to become relaxed in the excitement of the new year. Return gifts, run errands and spend gift cards or holiday cash worry-free with the below suggestions. When heading to your local stores or returning items online:

  • Review our home security tips on package delivery safety for items you are returning or receiving online. Find out how to combat porch package thieves here.
  • When returning items in person or shopping locally, park in well-lit areas close to your destination.
  • Avoid shopping alone, but if you do, watch for safe groups to walk out with or ask security for an escort to your car. Carry your keys in your hand to use as a weapon if necessary. Avoid being distracted by talking on your cell phone or digging for your keys while walking.
  • Always lock your vehicle.
  • Teenagers also out and about? Check that they locked your home’s doors or closed the garage, using your home security automation system. Or, receive alerts when they arrive home safely so you can shop in peace, without worry.
  • Be aware of your surroundings and don’t carry so many packages or bags that you can’t see or react if needed.
  • Avoid leaving purchases in plain sight within your vehicle. If you must store them and go back into the store, move your vehicle to a new spot. Moving your car helps in case someone is watching for shoppers to leave items and return to the store.
  • Relax, but keep an eye on home while away so you don’t feel rushed to return. It’s easy with today’s wireless home security systems, doorbell cameras and a security mobile app. Learn more below.
  • When in doubt, leave valuables, debit cards, or credit cards you won’t be using safely at home. Your vehicle’s trunk is not the best place to leave a purse or these items. If someone can get into your vehicle, they can access the trunk.
  • Store electronic devices and valuables out of sight, including any power cables or mounts. This eliminates clues that a device is hidden in your car.
  • Remove valuable information from your glove compartment, such as insurance papers with your home address and a garage door opener. Most insurance information can be stored or access on your phone if needed.
  • Pick restrooms in well-lit and well-trafficked areas of the mall. Always accompany children and the elderly to the restroom.
  • Always know where the closest exit is located in case of fire or another emergency.
  • Attract attention by talking loudly or yelling if you are approached by a stranger. Then, return to the store and alert an employee.
  • Avoid leaving a purse in a shopping cart, which you might step or turn away from often. Keep your purse on you and closed so that others can’t have easy access if you are distracted.
  • Make home and personal security a priority in 2020 and beyond. Find out how in our previous blog Make Home Security a Top New Year’s Resolution!

Don’t Overlook Home Security when Shopping

Thieves are still watching for valuable holiday gifts, deliveries, and empty homes. If you have a monitored home security system, always arm it when you leave. Thieves are on high alert and you should be too. Use your home security cameras and a doorbell camera to stay connected to home and aware. Keep an eye on teenagers, pets or elderly parents you leave at home while you’re out and about.

Remember, too, that arming your home security system protects against more than break-ins and can alert you and authorities to fire, smoke and carbon monoxide emergencies as well. Review our recent blog on holiday home security tips for more ideas.

2019-2020 Cynopsis TV & Entertainment Salary Survey Findings

News Image

“When it comes to non-financial rewards, the key is customization because that’s how you make these rewards especially valuable,” says Bruce Tulgan, author, workplace expert & founder of RainmakerThinking.

Cynopsis, the premier daily publication for television and media executives, revealed the results of its 2019-2020 Salary Survey. The full study can be viewed on Cynopsis.com’s Salary Survey page and Jobs site.

Average salaries are relatively consistent from Cynopsis’ 2018-2019 survey, and the gender gap remains prevalent across all departments and titles – of those who responded, men continue to receive higher salaries than their female counterparts.

On average, males continue to out-earn their female counterparts by +27%, translating to a difference of $31,200. From the 2018 study, this represents an increase of +10% in the gender gap. This disparity is prevalent across all titles and departments in the study.

In some departments (Legal/Finance, HR & Operations and Programming), the annual difference can range between $45,000 and $55,000. The narrowest gap is among Buying/Planning and Research workers, where the gap is $12,600 on average.

“We felt it was important to point out the visibly ongoing gender gap that emerged from this year’s data,” says Robbie Caploe, Cynopsis Publisher. “Although it’s worth noting that the survey findings show a female skew in the respondents, the disparity remains a challenge for the media industry overall.”

Another noteworthy finding related to benefits, which are becoming more varied. Aside from standard offerings such as gym memberships, flexible scheduling, and volunteer programs, new benefits are surfacing, too. Pet insurance, college loan assistance, elderly care, patient advocacy, and legal services are among other perks companies are providing employees – and that’s key to attracting top talent. “The more variable the options, the more likely an employer will be able to provide something that is especially valuable to each employee. When it comes to non-financial rewards, the key is customization because that’s how you make these rewards especially valuable,” says Bruce Tulgan, author, workplace expert and founder of RainmakerThinking. “Economists call this ‘a unique value proposition’ – when you can do something for somebody that they really want, that will be more valuable to that person than its average cost in the marketplace.”

How To Get Cheaper Car Insurance In 2020

News Image

“The auto insurance market allows drivers to make some changes and get cheaper premiums”, said Russell Rabichev, Marketing Director of Internet Marketing Company.

Compare-autoinsurance.org has released a new blog post that presents effective ways to get cheaper car insurance.

For more info and free car insurance quotes online, visit http://compare-autoinsurance.org/lower-car-insurance-premiums/

Auto insurance can be a costly investment, especially for persons labeled “high-risk drivers”. Drivers should spend some time researching ways to lower premiums. The following blog presents multiple tips for getting affordable car insurance.

  • Accessing multiple is a great way to reduce the overall costs. Insurance companies are known for offering a wide range of discounts. It is recommended to talk with an insurance representative and ask for a list of discounts and their prerequisites.
  • Pay the entire coverage in advance. Choosing to pay for the whole coverage in advance will help the company avoid monthly installment fees. The policyholder will receive cheaper premiums since those costs are no longer added.
  • Driving less than a certain limit will drastically reduce insurance costs. Spending less time on the roads means that the driver is less exposed to accidents and filing claims. Check what “low mileage” means for the insurance company.
  • Consider insurance costs before purchasing a new car. It is recommended to get online car insurance quotes before buying a car. Insurance must not be an afterthought.

Also, keep in mind that rates vary widely between insurance providers.

The blog presents more tips. For more information and free car insurance quotes, please visit http://compare-autoinsurance.org

Compare-autoinsurance.org is an online provider of life, home, health, and auto insurance quotes. This website is unique because it does not simply stick to one kind of insurance provider, but brings the clients the best deals from many different online insurance carriers. In this way, clients have access to offers from multiple carriers all in one place: this website. On this site, customers have access to quotes for insurance plans from various agencies, such as local or nationwide agencies, brand names insurance companies, etc.
