Triple W won the HME Business 2019 New Product Award for DFree®, the first health wearable device for urinary incontinence.

“We’re honored to be selected by HME Business,” said Ty Takayanagi, Vice President of Marketing & Business Development. “With DFree, people with incontinence can proactively manage their health condition and confidently socialize – knowing they’ll have plenty of time to plan for bathroom breaks.”

Triple W, an innovator of connected health devices, today announced it was named a winner of the HME Business 2019 New Product Award for DFree®, the first health wearable device for urinary incontinence. The award competition is sponsored by HME Business, the top business management media resource for home medical equipment (HME) professionals.

DFree is a non-invasive device that uses ultrasound technology to monitor bladder fullness and notifies you on your smartphone or tablet when it’s time to go to the bathroom via the DFree companion app. DFree stands for “diaper-free.” The HME Business New Product Award honors outstanding product development achievements by HME manufacturers and service providers. Fourteen winning products were selected in the sixth year of the program. DFree won in the “Incontinence & Urology Supplies” category. All entries are scored by a blind panel of judges from the HME provider community.

Winners will be recognized at Medtrade, the largest home medical equipment trade show and conference in the U.S. Medtrade Fall runs October 21-23 in Atlanta. Winners will also be featured on the HME Business website, hme-business.com, and will be featured in the November/December 2019 issue of HME Business magazine.

DFree helps to prevent accidental urinary leaks. Seniors and people with disability or provisional incontinence who need to manage a loss of bladder control now have an alternative to disposable diapers or pads and medications with the DFree health device. According to the U.S. National Institutes of Health, urinary incontinence affects 500 million people worldwide. DFree is designed not only to help people with urinary incontinence improve their quality of life and enable independence, but also to help reduce the burden for the caregivers.

“We’re honored to be selected by HME Business and included in this top group of product developers with significant innovative achievements,” said Ty Takayanagi, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Triple W. “With DFree, people with incontinence can proactively manage their health condition and confidently socialize and go about their daily activities – knowing they’ll have plenty of time to plan for bathroom breaks.”

Availability

DFree is available for purchase in the U.S. from the DFree website, Amazon and authorized retailers for $399.99 (MSRP). Triple W also offers rent-to-own option where customers can rent DFree from the DFree website for $40 per month with a minimum rental term of 30 days. Any rental fees paid will be applied towards purchase should customers decide to keep it. The DFree companion app may be downloaded for free from the App Store and Google Play. Better Therapeutics Publishes Study Estimating the Health Economic Impact of Digital Therapeutics in Type 2 Diabetes and Hypertension

Digital therapeutics that deliver behavioral interventions focused on root causes of chronic disease demonstrate clinical and cost benefits over traditional therapies.

Today, Better Therapeutics, a company developing prescription digital therapeutics for the treatment of cardiometabolic diseases, announced the publication of its fifth peer-reviewed study titled Estimating the impact of novel digital therapeutics in type 2 diabetes and hypertension: Health economic analysis.

“Chronic diseases including diabetes and heart disease affect half of all adults in the US and account for nearly 80 cents of every healthcare dollar spent. Digital therapeutics that deliver behavioral interventions focused on lifestyle demonstrate potential benefits over traditional therapies like medications and surgeries that treat the effects of disease while leaving the causes in place. They can increase patient access because they are inherently scalable, continuously delivered, and have demonstrated both clinical and cost-effectiveness in diabetes and hypertension,” said Kevin Appelbaum, CEO and study co-author.

The economic analysis estimated cost savings of $145 per patient per month (PPPM) in diabetes, and $97 PPPM in hypertension. These savings are realized by addressing the behaviors and lifestyle factors that are the root causes of disease, reducing the ongoing need for prescription medications. The potential cost savings increases substantially (30-60%) in moderately severe to severe patient populations. The intervention would be cost-effective at total three-year program costs of $6,468 for diabetes and $6,620 for hypertension.

Read the complete study here.

“Our analysis concluded that Better’s digital therapeutics for diabetic and hypertensive patients may provide substantial improvements in patient outcomes resulting in lower health resource utilization and costs, mostly resulting from decreased need for medications,” said health economist and lead author, Bob Nordyke, PhD.

About Better Therapeutics

Better develops prescription software for treating cardiometabolic diseases. By integrating elements of neuroscience, lifestyle medicine, and artificial intelligence, the company has created a new modality for treating a broad range of conditions that share common root causes. The company’s digital therapeutics have been validated in peer-reviewed and published clinical trials. Better is commercializing its disease reversal program with health plans, while pursuing regulatory approval of its first prescription digital therapeutic for treating type 2 diabetes. The company is headquartered in San Francisco, CA, and is a member of the Digital Therapeutics Alliance.

Houston date has been scheduled for “The Art of PMO” workshop led by Rich Butkevic, PMP, CSM.

Over the course of 3 hours, the Art of PMO Workshop will help participants gain a greater understanding of how they can quickly drive meaningful change throughout their Project Management office (PMO) that translated into real world results.

Rich Butkevic explains the overarching mindset that serves as the basis for The Art of PMO workshop as follows, “I’ve found the best way to illustrate some of what I believe are self-evident principles the workshop is baed on is by using the example of preparing a recipe. When you’re cooking a recipe, it’s really very much like a project. You have the result you’re trying to achieve, let’s say it’s a chocolate cake, and you have the steps you need to take in order to get to that end result. The first principle we dig into during the workshop is that different recipes should be used based on the skills of the person cooking. I’m not a great cook, so although I’m sure it would be better to temper my own chocolate like a professional pastry chef would, that’s not the recipe I should follow because my likelihood of success is so low. A pretty good chocolate cake is far better than one with burnt, clumpy chocolate. Similarly in PMO’s, I often see the processes based on what the ultimate ideal is, and no consideration being paid to whether or not the staff will actually be able to execute it effectively. Another example is that a recipe needs to be performed in a certain sequence in order for it to have the desired end result. You have to add the dry ingredients first, and then eggs, and then mix, and whatever else. You can’t start mixing before it’s time and you can’t skip steps that are crucial to the end results or which are needed as an input to the next step. A PMO should have the same perspective…the focus shouldn’t be on nuances of the process until the larger things are going well. Don’t bother trying to have resources estimate how many hours a task will take if they can’t determine how many DAYS it will take with a reasonable level of accuracy. Don’t worry about trying to project resource allocation across your entire portfolio six months from now until you can estimate what you’ll be doing next week fairly well. There’s many more examples, but in a nutshell we need to get far more strategic about developing our PMO organizations, and there’s some simple ways to do that which we work through in The Art of PMO workshop.”

Registration is now open for the Houston workshop on November 2, 2019 at 9:30AM. To register or to contact Rich Butkevic, please visit: https://artofpmo.com

Esteemed Divorce Attorney Kelly Hollingsworth Takes Charge at Beal Law Firm Dallas-Park Cities Location

I learned then that there was a place in the Dallas/Fort Worth family law market for lawyers with ‘big firm’ skills and credentials.

Attorney Kelly Hollingsworth now leads Beal Law Firm’s office off Sherry Lane in the Park Cities enclave of Dallas. Hollingsworth’s 24 years of trial experience and strong understanding of business litigation lend a first-class approach to family law.

Prior to joining Beal Law Firm, Hollingsworth practiced at some of the most powerful firms in Dallas. Hollingsworth, who earned his undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University and his law degree from Rutgers University, is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is licensed to practice in all federal and state courts in Texas. He is also licensed to practice before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Having practiced criminal defense, personal injury, business litigation and family law has diversified the senior attorney to be able to effectively manage clients from all walks of life. He says it’s his experiences in business litigation however that brought him to the exclusive practice of family law.

“I got into family law when a former business litigation client came to me saying he was dissatisfied with the selection of family lawyers he had been interviewing. I learned then that there was a place in the Dallas/Fort Worth family law market for lawyers with ‘big firm’ skills and credentials. I stayed in family law for the very same reason I went to law school, I wanted to make a difference in peoples’ lives when they were facing adversity,” Hollingsworth said.

Hollingsworth prides himself on being meticulously prepared for every case and every conceivable conclusion; it’s that dedication and commitment to excellence coupled with his unique experience that make him the ideal principal attorney to support the firm’s growth initiative in the coming years.

Beal Law Firm, founded by Eric Beal, originated in North Texas nearly three decades ago. With attention to detail and outstanding client service as the paramount focus, Beal has set out to expand the range of his firm’s services by extending hours of operation, broadening modes of communication and adding locations around Texas. In addition to the Park Cities location, Beal Law Firm’s offices can be found in Southlake, Texas, downtown Fort Worth and San Antonio with more expected to open soon. Working outside the normal 8 AM to 5 PM and in-person meetings is also vital to the firm to facilitate the varying schedules and preferences of their clientele. All Beal Law Firm locations offer video and phone consultations and flexible hours as an alternative to regular in-office, business-hour meetings.

The attorneys at the Beal Law Firm locations handle divorce and custody cases in counties throughout Texas. Hollingsworth hopes this added setting in the heart of the Highland Park/Preston Hollow/University Park region of Dallas will make them more accessible to those needing family law help.

New to RX-Safety Oakley Prescription Safety Glasses and Sunglasses By Phillips Safety Research

News Image

RX-Safety has been selling both prescription safety glasses and general safety glasses for almost 20 years now online. We have never been able to carry Oakley Prescription Safety Glasses up to this point, in spite of demand, because the company has never had a line that was ANSI Z87+ certified. But the wait is over! Oakley now makes a complete line of safety glasses, all of which meet the ANSI Z87 safety rating requirements, and they are now available online at RX-Safety.com. We are proud to offer the full line of Oakley Prescription Safety Glasses and other Oakley Performance Glasses to our customers. But your question might be why do you need to wear prescription safety or sports glasses?

Prescription safety glasses and sunglasses are necessary proper safety gear for a whole host of activities people engage in every day. Whether you’re gearing up for a long motorcycle ride or earning your paycheck in an industrial environment that includes dangerous workplace hazards, safety glasses or prescription safety glasses are a crucial part of protecting your eyes and face in the long term. It’s critical that you take proactive steps to protect your eyes before they are exposed to serious damage.

What Do Safety Glasses Do?

Safety glasses are designed to provide a barrier between your eyes and harmful debris. That much might be obvious! However, there are very specific standards that safety glasses have to adhere to in order to be sold as certified safety glasses. The type of safety standards they must adhere to depends on the purpose and rating system standards they are held to.

What Kind of Standards Do Safety Glasses Have to Adhere To?

In fact, there aren’t any national standards for safety glasses, technically. However, there are standards that some companies choose to meet in order to prove that their products are certified to keep consumer’s eyes safe, and it also gives them a competitive edge.

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is a non-profit organization that encourages companies to create products that meet voluntary conformity standards in the United States. They oversee the development of American products, services, processes, and systems. ANSI creates a list of uniform standards that are attached to various products, such as prescription safety glasses. They also create testing guidelines to ensure that the products meet those standards. Their organization examines eyewear and judges whether it meets the durability standards it needs to in order to be considered certified. This stamp of approval means that the safety glasses created by the vendor can be used for a variety of uses including safety gear for employees that meets OSHA’s eye and face protection standards.

If an employer’s business exposes employees to potentially harmful substances, they are required to provide them with proper safety gear. However, employers aren’t allowed to simply hand out a pair of safety glasses to their employees at the door to the factory floor and call it a day. There is a strict set of rules for selecting the face and eye protection that complies with OSHA’s eye and face protection standard which is outlined here- 29 CFR 1910.133. For starters, eye protection has to be selected based on the hazard that employees need to be protected from. Safety glasses that provide adequate protection to an employee from impact might not be protective against chemicals. All personal protective equipment (PPE) has to be certified by the American National Standards Institute and the manufacturer has to legibly mark it as certified.

When Are Businesses Required to Issue Safety Glasses?

OSHA is designed to make sure that employees are not forced to work in unsafe environments. However, that doesn’t mean that businesses are not allowed to use potentially harmful materials. It just means that legally they are required to provide their employees with safety gear that will prevent them from the dangerous debris. Businesses are required to issue safety glasses to employees if there are any workplace hazards that can cause harm to your eyes. For instance, if an employee is working around any of the following substances, the employer is required to provide proper safety glasses according to OSHA standards:

  • Harmful chemical gasses or vapors
  • Flying particles
  • Excessive amounts of dust
  • Liquid chemicals
  • Acids
  • Caustic liquids
  • Potentially dangerous light radiation

However, businesses are not allowed to hand their employees a welding mask and call it a day! There is a selection process based on the workplace hazard employees are exposed to, and they also have to provide training for employees that includes the following topics:

  • Why the face and eye protection is necessary for their safety in the workplace
  • How the improper fit, use, or maintenance of their face and eye protection can compromise its effectiveness and potentially lead to injury
  • What the safety glasses can and cannot protect against as far as hazards in the workplace.
  • How to use safety glasses in case of a workplace emergency
  • How to inspect their safety glasses for damage, put them on, and remove them efficiently
  • How to properly maintain and store their safety glasses to prevent damage that could compromise their effectiveness
  • What medical signs and symptoms they need to watch for in case of exposure to the workplace hazard.
  • The general requirements of OSHA’s eye and face protection standards so they know what type of protective gear their employer is required to provide for them.

When Should You Use Safety Glasses?

There are all sorts of activities you should wear safety glasses for outside of the workplace. You should wear safety glasses anytime you’re exposing your eyes to debris or potential hazards. Potential hazards could include wind, UV rays, dust, debris, or potential impact. These hazards can lead to longer-term damage to your eyes that can cause chronic damage.

If you don’t wear proper eye protection during activities that could possibly expose your eyes to debris, it’s likely that eventually, a piece of debris will cause damage. This damage could span from temporary discomfort due to debris in the eye, to a scratched cornea, to the possible eventual development of a chronic condition that could lead to blindness. However, a much more common side effect of forgoing eyewear is the development of chronic dry eye.

According to the Mayo Clinic, chronic dry eye means that your tears will not be able to provide adequate lubrication for your eyes, which causes a variety of symptoms including discomfort, sensitivity to light, watery eyes, blurred vision, and difficulty seeing at night, among other things. In addition, chronic dry eyes can have the added complication of increasing the likelihood that you will develop eye infections. Eye infections can eventually cause long-term, permanent damage to your eyes, and if the root problem isn’t addressed, your vision could be permanently affected.

How to Pick the Best Safety Glasses for Your Activities

Beyond the workplace, there are plenty of situations where safety glasses should be worn! If you’ll be exposed to wind, debris, projectiles, or bright sunlight, it’s a good idea to incorporate eyewear into your plans. Choosing your eyewear depends heavily on the type of activity you’re planning on doing, and there are a few factors that should go into that.

Outdoor Sports

Prescription sports glasses are a great option for people who enjoy spending time being active in the great outdoors. But chasing a soccer ball or hitting a tennis ball across a court become harder under two conditions- if the sun is so bright you can’t see through the glare and if your prescription glasses won’t stay put! Sports glasses solve both problems by being designed for rigorous activity and providing UV protection. Additionally, they provide protection against the potential damage that a wayward tennis ball could cause.

There are a few things you should take into account if you’re looking for a new pair of sports protection glasses:

  • You need to choose the right prescription, of course. Without making sure your prescription is accurate, no matter what glasses you pick, they won’t work for you.
  • Physical comfort is one of the main features you’ll want to look for in a pair of prescription sports glasses. The last thing you want is for your eyewear to come loose at a crucial moment. Try on plenty of options to make sure that the glasses you choose actually stay on your head without causing you any level of discomfort.
  • Make sure they come with UV protection. Even the best prescription won’t matter if the glare from the sun hurts your eyes.
  • Make sure to check for warranty and returns policies to make sure you have options if it turns out the glasses don’t work for you.
  • Brand names mean reliability for a lot of people, which is a big reason why RX-Safety is so excited to be offering Oakley’s line of safety glasses. The brand is an important aspect of the product you’re investing in, and you can find a wide variety of brands on our site that will meet your prescription safety glasses needs.

Motorcycle Rides

Wearing glasses during your motorcycle ride protects your eyes from road debris, wind, and the sun, and there are a few options available depending on what kind of helmet you choose.

  • Regular Motorcycle Glasses– These are the perfect option for people who choose to wear full-face helmets. Full face helmets provide fantastic protection, but they might not give you the UV protection you need, and visors don’t come with prescriptions. Goggles can be too bulky to fit under a face shield. Motorcycle glasses are smaller and designed to work with full-face helmet types, so they’re a perfect option for people who opt for a full-face helmet.
  • Motorcycle Goggles– If you choose to use an open face helmet, you can and should use motorcycle goggles rather than motorcycle glasses to protect your eyes. Open face helmets have less coverage, obviously, so goggles offer both the protection you need from wind and debris as well as standard UV protection to protect your eyes from the sun.
  • Prescription Motorcycle Glasses– A pair of standard prescription glasses won’t protect your eyes from impact, wind, or debris the way a pair of motorcycle glasses will. Don’t try to use your glasses as a substitute for certified motorcycle glasses. A pair of prescription motorcycle glasses will keep your eyes fully protected and meet your prescription glasses requirements.

Your eyes are a delicate part of your face, aside from being the window to the soul. Long term damage resulting from a lack of proper eye protection is never worth the risk. Beyond discomfort and chronic dry-eye, the increased risk of infection can cause blindness, among other serious complications. Don’t ever risk eye damage when you’re being active and the great thing is that there are tons of stylish options that will protect your face without compromising your personal look. Whether you prefer Nike, Lacoste, Kate Spade, or our brand new Oakley line, there are plenty of options to suit both your lifestyle and your fashion preferences.

No matter what kind of activity you’re looking to protect your eyes during, RX-Safety has the perfect option for you! You can contact our experts here with questions about what kind of prescription safety glasses will work for you. We’d love to help!

Fruit Street Telehealth Platform Selected for Clinical Trial to Reduce Cognitive Decline andDementia Risk

Fruit Street Health, a digital health and telemedicine company, announced today that its platform has been selected by a research team at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), an affiliate of Harvard Medical School and a founding member of Partners HealthCare, to study different ways to improve brain healthy behaviors in individuals at risk for cognitive decline and dementia.

Over 5.8 million people in the United States alone have Alzheimer disease or related dementias (ADRDs), conditions which carry vast economic, societal, and personal burdens for health systems and families. Research has shown that up to 1/3 of the risk of ADRDs may be reduced by adopting brain healthy behaviors, including aerobic exercise, a Mediterranean diet, and engaging in socially and cognitively stimulating activities. Even while significant pharmaceutical research continues in efforts to delay or prevent dementia, the medical community, today, has evidence that lifestyle interventions are effective at reducing risk, in addition to having myriad benefits to overall health. “There is a giant gap between our knowledge of the behaviors that reduce dementia risk and our application of this knowledge in the delivery of care” said Dr. Seth Gale, investigator and neurologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Neurologists and primary care providers at the Brigham are planning a 6-month pilot study of older patients who are at a higher risk for dementia compared to their peers. Health coaches, allied with study participants’ providers, will employ Fruit Street’s digital platform to educate and motivate participants to achieve positive changes in brain healthy behaviors. In the study, coaches will take advantage of the platform’s fitness activity tracking, photographing of dietary intake, and two-way video and mobile messaging to guide participants in reaching individualized lifestyle goals. Measures of quality of life, sleep, cognitive function, physical activity, and diet among others, will be tracked over the 6-month study.

“We are excited to be contributing to this effort at Brigham and Women’s, where technology will be used directly to study the implementation of treatment recommendations,” said Laurence Girard, CEO of Fruit Street Health. “Dementia is a major public health burden and we are committed to finding innovative ways to help fight it.”

Fruit Street Health is a digital health and telemedicine company which currently licenses its software to healthcare professionals who wish to set up a virtual practice. It was the first company to deliver the Center for Disease Control & Prevention’s (CDC’s) National Diabetes Prevention Program (“DPP”), which has complimentary goals to those in the dementia risk reduction study being planned at BWH. Fruit Street’s HIPAA-compliant telehealth software is possible through a joint venture agreement with VSee, the world’s largest telemedicine video engine with more than three million users. Fruit Street and VSee collaborated to build a telemedicine product that helps healthcare providers conduct HIPAA compliant video calls and monitor the diet and lifestyle of patients using wearable devices and mobile applications. VSee is considered the gold standard for HIPAA compliant video conferencing in the telemedicine industry and offers the most bandwidth efficient video software in the world.

Thanks to Nashville’s prime geographic location and booming manufacturing scene, the demand for supply chain and operations talent will only intensify – and a business-as-usual approach won’t land top performers.

Lucas Group, ranked sixth on Forbes’ Best Professional Recruiting Firms list for 2019, is expanding the firm’s Nashville presence at One Nashville Place, 150 4th Ave N Suite 1325. The larger office space supports Lucas Group’s talent recruitment efforts on behalf of companies amid the city’s explosive business growth.

The greater Nashville Metro Area is predicted to experience a job growth rate of 50.5% over the next decade – significantly stronger growth than the US average of 33.5%.

Nashville is a favorite second home for West Coast tech giants, like Amazon, and a growing regional HQ powerhouse. Job growth is on track to outpace the population, with a predicted shortage of 25,000 employees over the next decade.

“In this candidate-driven market, an executive recruiter with deep local connections can be a true consultative ally. My goal is to provide invaluable guidance to accelerate the hiring process without compromising talent quality,” says Nashville native Sam McDonald, Managing Partner, IT, who advises companies on the new rules for IT recruitment.

Joining McDonald in the Nashville office are Lindsay Davis, Managing Partner Accounting & Finance, Chris Abrams, Managing Partner Human Resources, and Nate Erdtmann, Managing Partner, Manufacturing.

“Thanks to Nashville’s prime geographic location and booming manufacturing scene, the demand for supply chain and operations talent will only intensify – and a business-as-usual approach won’t land top performers,” said Erdtmann.

When it comes to closing candidates, small and medium-sized businesses are struggling to compete with giants like Amazon.

“The majority of hires are passive candidates who are not actively looking for new opportunities,” said Davis. “The right recruiter will understand a professional’s pain points – commute length, advancement opportunities – and pitch an opportunity accordingly. This is the competitive edge that gets candidates excited about an offer.”

“Our recruiters work hand-in-hand with a company’s internal hiring manager to fill positions that stretch across multiple skill sets and require a deeper network than any one person can provide,” adds Abrams, who cautions companies not to overlook the hidden cost of leaving a critical position unfilled.

Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia with offices across the country, Lucas Group employs expert, localized search with national reach, tapping into a passive talent network to deliver a curated list of candidates uniquely suited to a company’s talent needs.
