Most often, LipoLite is performed on the neck, abdomen, arms and jowls. The other areas that are commonly treated include gynecomastia, saddlebags and knees. With LipoLite, a small incision is made, and a cannula is inserted through it. A thin laser beam is then directed into the layer of fat that has to be removed through the cannula. The laser beam (at 1064 nm), directed through the cannula tube, will rupture the fat cells. This will liquefy the fat in the target area, broken down by thermal energy. The fat is suctioned out through the same incision used for the cannula tube. The accuracy of the laser target and the heat passed through is monitored by the LipoLite machine. The procedure is carried out with local anesthesia and is considered a minimally invasive treatment option.
