By putting the most current recommendations for diagnosis and treatment at clinicians’ fingertips, the app will further ASNC’s mission of improving cardiovascular outcomes through image-guided patient management.

A new smart-device application released today by the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC) will make it easier for cardiovascular healthcare professionals to learn and implement the latest evidence-based imaging to improve patient care. The “ASNC Clinical and Quality Resources App” contains key guidelines and educational materials in a single electronically searchable portal. It also offers the most up-to-date guidance on cardiac amyloidosis care in eight languages: Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish.

“ASNC’s new clinical and quality resources app is a contemporary tool designed to help busy healthcare professionals,” says ASNC President Sharmila Dorbala, MD, MPH, FASNC, Director of Nuclear Cardiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School. “By putting the most current recommendations for diagnosis and treatment at clinicians’ fingertips, the app will further ASNC’s mission of improving cardiovascular outcomes through image-guided patient management.”

The resources app includes the latest guidelines, expert consensus documents and information statements across the field of nuclear cardiology and molecular imaging. Topics include SPECT and cardiovascular PET protocols; best practices for cardio-oncology and imaging in women; and the latest guidance for standardized imaging methods, diagnostic criteria and appropriate imaging utiization in the rapidly evolving area of cardiac amyloidosis.

“As the paradigm for cardiac amyloidosis screening, diagnosis and treatment has shifted in recent years, ASNC has launched initiatives to ensure today’s clinicians have the information they need to deliver optimal care,” says Dr. Dorbala. “The ASNC Clinical and Quality Resources App will make it easy and efficient for cliniicians to access the essential guidelines and practice points in their preferred language.”

ASNC partnered with nuclear cardiology/medicine organizations from around the world to ensure that the app will meet the needs of clinicians no matter where they practice. Collaborating organizations include the Chinese Society of Nuclear Medicine, French Society of Nuclear Medicine, German Society of Nuclear Medicine, Italian Association of Nuclear Medicine, Japanese Society of Nuclear Cardiology, Latin American Association of Nuclear Medicine and Biology, Portuguese Society of Nuclear Medicine and Spanish Society of Nuclear Medicine.

Designed for iOS and Android platforms, the ASNC Clinical and Quality Resources App also makes it easy for users to access news and updates from the Society, including the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology, the ImageGuide Registry®, and the latest online educational opportunities.

“We are grateful the many experts around the world who contributed to the ASNC Clinical and Quality Resources App,” says Kathleen B. Flood, ASNC CEO, “and we thank Pfizer and our sponsors for their partnership and commitment to global education for the achievement of best practices in nuclear cardiology.”

The ASNC Clinical and Quality Resources App is available for free download in the Apple App Store and Google Play. Additional information will be available at ASNC2020: The 25th Annual Scientific Session and Exhibition in the ASNC Exhibitor Showcase Booth. Register for ASNC2020 at http://www.asnc.org/register.

About the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology

For over 25 years, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and its more than 4,000 members have been improving cardiovascular outcomes through image-guided patient management. As the only society dedicated solely to the field of nuclear cardiology, ASNC establishes standards for excellence in cardiovascular imaging through the development of clinical guidelines, professional medical education, advocacy and research development. ASNC provides peer-reviewed original articles through its official publication Journal of Nuclear Cardiology and operates the nation’s first noninvasive cardiac imaging registry, ImageGuide Registry®, to benchmark quality and improve patient care.
