ACHA CEO, Dr. Devin Jopp, Announces Plans to Step Down

Representing our collective voice to promote student health and well-being, Dr. Jopp has worked tirelessly to advance the mission of our organization with passion and innovation.

Dr. Jopp announced today that he will step down as CEO of the American College Health Association (ACHA), effective November 16, 2020.

“The board is grateful for Dr. Jopp’s incredible service to the association and our member institutions of higher education. Representing our collective voice to promote student health and well-being, he has worked tirelessly to advance the mission of our organization with passion and innovation; his contributions have been invaluable,” said Kim Webb, President of ACHA’s Board of Directors and Director of the Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention Center at Washington University St. Louis. “As the Board President of ACHA, it’s been an honor and pleasure working with Dr. Jopp. We offer our gratitude and our congratulations as he begins his next chapter as CEO for the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology.”

Dr. Jopp’s accomplishments while serving as CEO are many. Most recently, he named and empowered ACHA’s COVID-19 response on behalf of our nation’s institutions of higher education. During his tenure, Dr. Jopp led the association in pioneering new programs to support ACHA’s growth, including the support and implementation of ACHA’s data warehouse, the Connected College Health Network (CCHN); the development of ACHA’s first professional certification program; and the launch of a health and well-being portal for students and caregivers, entitled HealthyStartU. Additionally, Dr. Jopp was instrumental in building alliances with key allied organizations and regulatory agencies that considerably broadened the ACHA’s reach. With tenacity, intellect and innovation, he has significantly enhanced ACHA’s stature and his contributions will be enduring.

“It has been an absolute honor and privilege to work alongside these amazingly passionate and committed college health and well-being professionals across the higher education landscape,” Jopp said. “ACHA holds such a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of our nation’s 20 million college students and I’m excited for the future of this incredible organization and look forward to continuing to support their success.”

The Board of Directors will soon launch a national search for his successor to uphold and sustain our commitment to advancing college health and well-being.

Prior to joining ACHA, Dr. Jopp served as the President and Chief Executive Officer for the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI); a national nonprofit advisor to the Secretary of HHS which works to improve the exchange of healthcare information. Earlier in his career, Dr. Jopp served in executive roles at a number of leading nonprofit organizations.

Dr. Jopp earned a bachelor of arts (B.A.) degree in computer information systems from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, a master of science (M.S.) degree in computer and information sciences from Hood College and a doctorate of education (Ed.D.) from George Washington University’s executive leadership program in human and organizational learning.
