Workout Anytime, the nearly-200-unit 24-hour fitness franchise, was recently the subject of a viral Instagram video. In late October, Mark Wahlberg recorded a video outside of Aiken’s Workout Anytime location, upset that he was unable to access the facility at 3 a.m. for one of his notorious early-morning workouts.
Though Workout Anytime locations are open 24/7, member key cards are required to gain access to the building to maintain the safety and security of members, and even a-list celebrities, working out after hours.
Once the story went viral, owner of the Aiken gym, Lou Puleo, attempted to connect with Wahlberg’s representatives to clear up any misunderstandings. Shortly after the video was removed from social media, Puleo received a call from Wahlberg’s team.
Workout Anytime and Wahlberg’s team arranged for an early morning workout on Sunday, November 6th.
“He and his folks were absolutely wonderful,” Puleo said. “He was very friendly, and everyone on his staff was so kind. They were good-natured and we laughed about the mixup. He apologized to our team, apologized on Instagram and made it right. We were really pleased with the way he and his team handled the situation.”
Wahlberg made another post after his workout, saying, “I gotta give a big shout out, and more importantly, a big apology to Workout Anytime in Aiken, SC. I was here two weeks ago, we had a bit of a misunderstanding, a miscommunication!”
Workout Anytime gyms are equipped with the best equipment, including Matrix Fitness’s The Perfect Squat, The Ab Coaster and Self-spotting bench, tanning beds, HydroMassage and polypropylene, antimicrobial flooring to provide members with the best possible value.
“It was great to have Mark Wahlberg not only experience one of our gyms but share shining feedback both publicly and with the local team,” said Dennis Holcom, senior vice president of franchise support for Workout Anytime. “We pride ourselves on offering the best equipment and facilities; getting positive feedback from a fitness fanatic as devoted as Mark Wahlberg is certainly something we’re proud of.”
