Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and PlatformQ Health Launch New Continuing Education Programs for Clinicians to Improve Patient Outcomes

“We are proud to partner with and support AAFA in their mission to improve the quality of lives for people with asthma, allergies and related conditions. We’ve seen the measurable impact online education has on these conditions, and look forward to continuously serving AAFA and their community.”

Building on the success of their partnership and the impact of the educational activities produced over the last few years, PlatformQ Health is excited to announce an expansion of its ongoing collaboration with the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA). Together over the next three years, they will produce a series of virtual continuing medical education (CME) and supplemental activities that will allow health care providers (HCPs), patients, and caregivers to connect online with leaders in the field, learn about disease management and treatment options, ask questions and hear personal testimonies from patients and caregivers about their experiences.

AAFA and PlatformQ Health have previously teamed up to address clinician and patient needs. Presentation of outcomes from an aligned educational initiative (patient and HCP programs ‘tethered’ around one topic) in atopic dermatitis was accepted at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI) and American Academy of Dermatology’s (AAD) Annual meetings, and shared online.

“We are excited to build on the work we started in 2018, to provide accessible, actionable education to health care providers and the families they serve,” shared Melanie Carver, Chief Mission Officer of AAFA. “PlatformQ Health’s interactive learning platform allows us to provide valuable and timely education to our community. Through this partnership, AAFA will further support people with asthma and allergies and their families, while elevating the voice of the patient. Clinician education cannot be overlooked – health professionals are a critical part of the patient journey and we’re excited to expand our CME offerings to help provide HCPs with more of the tools needed to diagnose, treat, and stay up to date with the latest medical research and information.”

Robert Rosenbloom, CEO of PlatformQ Health shared, “We are proud to partner with and support AAFA in their mission to improve the quality of lives for people with asthma, allergies and related conditions. We’ve seen the measurable impact online education has on these conditions and others, and look forward to continuously serving AAFA and their community as we can leverage our online learning platform to deliver education to the right person at the right time.”

Other leading foundations are using PlatformQ Health’s digital education platform to deliver outcomes-centric video-based medical education to HCPs and patients they serve, like the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) and the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA). In addition to more than a dozen HCP and patient sessions, NORD utilized the platform to take their in-person conference online.

A History of Success in Allergy and Asthma Education

In May, PlatformQ Health published a virtual e-poster presentation featuring results from a recent aligned educational initiative in atopic dermatitis that was accepted at AAAAI and AAD’s Annual Meetings. The poster/video combination demonstrates learning design, delivery methods, and outcomes from the two sessions – one for clinicians and one for patients, with the two sharing similar learning objectives related to treatment and shared decision making. The unique educational design allowed PlatformQ Health and AAFA to identify critical areas of communication and missed opportunities for shared decision-making regarding atopic dermatitis management. Check out the full virtual presentation here.

A newly released aligned initiative in Chronic Spontaneous (Idiopathic) Urticaria (CSU or CIU), with dedicated activities for health care professionals and patients/caregivers. Further tethering the initiative, session insights and questions from the patient activity were discussed and addressed by the expert panel in the CME session. Both are available online for on demand viewing:

PQH and AAFA will be launching another tethered education program starting August 17th with a patient education program led by Dr. Peter Lio on MedLive. The expert faculty panel of this program, Taking Charge of my Eczema will also feature an advocacy specialist and a patient.

In September, the adjacent 2-part clinician-education program about atopic dermatitis will launch on ImmunologyLive: Part 1 – Aligning Treatment with Disease Burden and Severity to Optimize Success & Part 2 -Atopic Dermatitis: A Clear Roadmap to Treatment Success. Peter Lio MD, Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology & Pediatrics, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine will lead a panel of other top experts as they discuss diagnosis, treatment options, improved symptom control and how to integrate components of shared decision-making that includes ongoing assessment of QoL.
