AZ Labs is developing a novel delivery system to deliver zinc directly into the lungs helps alleviate symptoms of the common cold/viral infections

AZ Labs is developing this innovative, patent pending, formulation as a homeopathic solution that helps alleviate symptoms of viral respiratory ailments. The product, Azvirex™, is intended to be a preventative or therapeutic aid that inhibits viral replication. Azvirex™, is in final development stages and agreements are in place with contract manufacturers to manufacture, package and market this unique homeopathic remedy.

The homeopathic product, Azvirex™ utilizes simple vaporization technology to deliver atomized zinc directly into the targeted organ, the lungs. This directeded delivery of zinc to the lower respiratory tract is intended to prevent and/or inhibit viral replication pathways of RNA viruses and other viral types (2,3,4) as well as some bacteria.

The Azvirex ™ formulation is based on multiple in-vitro and in-vivo studies that have demonstrated the efficacy of zinc ions in preventing and or inhibiting viral replication. Peer reviewed studies have shown zinc is involved in numerous aspects of cellular metabolism and is required for the catalytic activity of approximately 100 enzymes (5,6) and plays a key role in immune function (7,8).

Treatment with Azvirex ™ should provide similar or superior effectiveness for preventing or limiting the duration of the common cold (9) as compared to zinc lozenges and nasal sprays as it directly delivers zinc ions to both the upper and lower respiratory tract. These are the critical areas commonly affected by viral infections
