Attendees of The Mobility Open Blockchain Initiative [MOBI] on May 19th-20, 2020 in Los Angeles, CA will have access to two days of specialized speaker sessions from key industry players in the mobility and blockchain sector, emerging technology demonstrations, and networking opportunities. The event’s topics will focus on “The New Economy of Movement”, enabled by the convergence of connected vehicles, smart cities, decentralized finance, and other rapidly emerging technologies. Together, these technologies give cities the ability to manage and maintain infrastructure on distributed ledgers, charge for road use, congestion, carbon emissions, and solve many of the most intractable urban mobility challenges. In this ecosystem vehicles have a digital twin, are able to communicate with other vehicles, and can pay for infrastructure as they move. Users are rewarded for greener transportation methods through their vehicle wallets.

MoCo Los Angeles 2019 laid the groundwork for assessing the value potential of blockchain and the role of a cross-industry and public participation to develop standards for future mobility ecosystems. The 2019 speaker roster was stacked with the world’s largest OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, technology companies, consulting firms, academic institutions, and innovative thinkers. MOBI’s partner OEMs – BMW, Daimler, Denso, Ford, GM, Honda, Toyota, and others – discussed the importance of testing use cases for a blockchain-based Vehicle Identity, a Connected Data Marketplace, and Electric Vehicle Grid Integration. Daimler, ZF, and Filament shared insight on their research on car wallets. And MOBI offered a first-look into the Citopia application for smart-city infrastructure in the exhibition hall. Other specialized industry sessions were led by speakers from the Tapscott Group, Tendermint Labs, SilaMoney, Amazon Web, the City of Los Angeles, Toyota AI Ventures; and many more. MoCo Los Angeles 2020 will provide an equally diverse set of innovative minds.

MoCo Los Angeles 2020 will also offer exclusive looks into MOBI’s recently launched working groups. The Supply Chain working group, chaired by OEMs, BMW and Ford, is focused on researching the potential of blockchain technology across automotive supply chains. The Finance, Securitization, and Smart Contracts working group, chaired by the global law firm, Orrick Herrington LLC and RouteOne, was created to assess the potential value proposition of blockchain, work on standards, and potentially, help coordinate logistics necessary to carry out a pilot program for use cases in finance and securitization.

MoCo Los Angeles 2020 aims to foster collaboration between the public and private sector to leverage emerging technology – AI, IoT, and blockchain – for the future of mobility.
