Jennifer Merritts announces the release of ‘You’re Not Your Car’

News Image

Jennifer Merritts announces her entry to the publishing scene with the release of “You’re Not Your Car: A Guide To Finding Peace, Balance, and Understanding Who You Are Beyond Your Physical Body” (published by Balboa Press). This self-improvement book discusses who a person is beyond his/her physical body, a powerful energy being on a journey with goals.

This book is essential for those who are on a spiritual journey to understanding who they are beyond the person they see in the mirror. Filled with easy and fun analogies, this book helps people understand Soul Goals, Vibrational Frequency, how to balance their own chakras, and how to easily navigate through difficult experiences like death, acceptance, and trauma. The case studies included reflect back to us how to move forward, live in the moment, and become a powerful, creative, energy being.

“Our world is currently seeing some very difficult times. Pandemic, dangerous world leaders and climate change are just some of the factors contributing to a negative collective consciousness on our planet. In addition to that, our individual lives have equally challenging moments. We can choose to only see the misery that is happening all around us, or we can become aware of and tap into the spiritual energy that is available to us but, unfortunately, was never taught to us. It is a matter of being open to higher concepts, and willing to let go of limiting beliefs. We are powerful energy beings with limitless potential,” Merritts says.

When asked what she wants readers to take away from the book, Merritts answered, “I hope the information in this book helps people to understand the true essence of who they are. I hope people can learn to understand themselves from a greater perspective, and in so doing, will be able to change their lives from mundane or despair to one of joy and peace. When we can understand our lives as not just this one complicated moment but rather as a journey to transcendence, the beauty of the Universe can easily be felt. Some days can seem hopeless, but I know the Universal Energy field has so much to offer us that we have not even tapped into yet. I would love for everyone else to know that as well.” For more details about the book, please visit https://www.balboapress.com/en/bookstore/bookdetails/843034-youre-not-your-car

‘The SQUIRT! The Stringed Quantum Universal Integrated Relational Theory’

News Image

Mark N. Heinly, M.D. announces his entry to the publishing scene with the release of “The SQUIRT! The Stringed Quantum Universal Integrated Relational Theory” (published by Balboa Press), a transformative guide that intertwines psychological theories and scientific discoveries with wisdom and wonder of the water to point others toward the peace, thrill, and fulfillment awaiting just beyond the horizon.

In this book, Heinly relies on three decades of experience as a psychiatrist to share a novel approach inspired by the latest discoveries in science and physics. Utilizing the wisdom and wonder of water as a guide, the SQUIRT perspective defines what it means to relate with each other, in one’s relationships with oneself, others, one’s creative passions, nature, and the divine, and offers impactful wisdom on how to attain higher consciousness, become more self-aware, and embrace the power of giving and receiving in perfect harmony.

“The world is experiencing tremendous pain and unnecessary conflict that results from unawareness of our nature and interconnection with everything else. Our confusion and lack of skillfulness regarding the most effective ways to live, love, and relate lead to negative emotional and mental states that can result in violence, conflict, destructiveness, and exploitation. Without clarity about our true nature and the positive aims toward which we most deeply strive, we will continue to cause incalculable harm to each other and our single planetary home. With broad agreement regarding human nature and our essential interconnection with the universe, humanity can set up our societies to sustainably meet the needs of people, all lifeforms, and the world,” Heinly says.

When asked what he wants readers to take away from the book, Heinly answered, “there are very specific and attainable ways to find peace and happiness and connection. Our pain and suffering can all be placed into a larger context that is understandable and applicable. We are all unique strings of energy and intelligence in the stringed, quantum universe, and we all matter and play an integral role in its evolution. The world can be transformed by shifting awareness to our core relational needs and ultimate relational goals and developing mindfulness of the ways our inner goodness gets hijacked by the false self and its distorted perspectives, attitudes, and beliefs. A central message of this book is that self-care does not detract from our ability to love others — in fact, it is the best way we can help the world. The more reliably we meet our core mutual needs to give and receive love, pleasure, and security, the more likely we attain our ultimate relational goals of self-actualization, self-transcendence, and ecstasy. The healthier we become, the more we benefit everyone and everything. Furthermore, people need to open their minds to scientific and objective arguments regarding the presence of an omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent deity and the power of mutual love.” For more details about the book, please visit https://www.balboapress.com/en/bookstore/bookdetails/845395-the-squirt-the-stringed-quantum-universal-integrated-relational-theory

Allegheny Health Network launches Cai & Kate, a children’s show focused on behavioral health

Cai and Kate

Our goal with Cai & Kate is to create a free, easily accessible resource for families that helps children identify and create their emotional vocabularies.

Allegheny Health Network (AHN) today premiered a new YouTube show focusing on the emotional well-being of children ages 3 to 6 years old.

Cai & Kate features Cai, a chameleon puppet whose color changes depending on his emotions and feelings, and Kate, Cai’s human friend who provides commentary on the various emotions portrayed in the show. Kate is played by Katlyn Kohne, a supervisor for AHN’s Chill Project team.

Funded by the A. J. and Sigismunda Palumbo Charitable Trust, Cai & Kate aims to build knowledge related to emotional wellness for children and their families. Puppetry, music, and education are blended to foster a sense of wonder as kids expand their ability to identify and talk about emotions.

The premiere episode is the first in a series being produced by Chill Project Productions, an initiative of the AHN Chill Project. Offered through AHN’s Psychiatry & Behavioral Health Institute and led by a team of behavioral health specialists, the Chill Project teaches evidenced-based coping techniques to equip students, teachers, and parents with a standardized approach to managing stress, anxiety and other mental health concerns.

As the Chill Project expanded to include grades K-12 as well as college students since its 2019 launch, the project’s stakeholders also identified a need for highly customized and targeted curriculum that is emotionally and developmentally appropriate for preschoolers.

“Young children feel a wide range of emotions and may have challenges identifying and expressing their needs. As these emotions surface, they can feel powerful and sometimes overwhelming for children, and caregivers may have difficulty understanding them,” said William Davies, Ed.D., Founder and Director of the AHN Chill Project. “Our goal with Cai & Kate is to create a free, easily accessible resource for families that helps children identify and create their emotional vocabularies.”

Cai & Kate highlights the importance of introducing coping skills that can help the children better understand how to identify and express their emotions, teach caregivers how to view emotions through the lens of their child, and help mitigate non-preferred behavioral responses, such as throwing, hitting, biting, and temper tantrums.

As a key funding partner for AHN Psychiatry & Behavioral Health, the A. J. and Sigismunda Palumbo Charitable Trust has helped to catalyze the work of the AHN Chill Project, supporting on-site Chill Project services at local school districts, the Chill Mobile vehicle, and Chill Project Productions.

Funding from the Trust, along with other funding partners, has resulted in the dramatic expansion of youth mental health services across the Western Pennsylvania region, having impacted more than 44,000 students, 3,500 educators, and thousands of parents and caregivers.

“The innovative programming and educational resources produced by Chill Project Productions have the potential to reach audiences far beyond Western Pennsylvania, serving as a vital tool that will help families learn how to cultivate emotional well-being in children,” said John W. Kowach, Executive Director and Trustee for the A. J. and Sigismunda Palumbo Charitable Trust. “By introducing these coping skills at an early age, this model will set a new standard for how mental health care is approached among preschoolers and is a positive step to addressing mental health challenges faced by today’s youth.”

Recent studies have shown significant increases in the rates of depression, anxiety and other behavioral health issues among adolescents and children, and those increases accelerated amid the COVID-19 pandemic. A 2022 paper by JAMA Pediatrics suggests that mental health issues, as well as behavior and conduct problems, have been rising for children as young as 3 since 2016.

Chill Project Productions anticipates releasing additional episodes in the coming months. Cai & Kate will also be incorporated into AHN’s pediatric offices by streaming episodes in the waiting rooms and offering patients Cai & Kate activities, such as coloring books, that feature a variety of situations where skills are needed, further teaching healthy ways to handle emotions.

“The launch of Chill Project Productions and support from the Palumbo Trust create endless possibilities for future educational programming that will serve as a beneficial tool for caregivers and educators for years to come,” said Allie Quick, Chief Philanthropy Officer at AHN. “The learning interventions shared through this platform are a testament to the growth and popularity of the Chill Project, and we can’t wait to see how these programs spark change, transform lives and help our children thrive.”

Cai & Kate can be viewed on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
