FAScinate Therapeutics today announced that it has submitted an Investigational New Drug (IND) Application for Phase 2 clinical trials of its Parkinson’s Disease drug candidate “KM-819” to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). KM-819 is an orally active small molecule that is a potentially disease-modifying treatment for Parkinson’s Disease.

This Phase 2 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study is divided into Party 1a and 1b (dose finding study in healthy elderly patients and patients with Parkinson’s Disease, respectively) and part 2 (two ascending doses in patients Parkinson’s Disease) for the evaluation of the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics and preliminary efficacy of KM-819 in healthy older adults and in participants with Parkinson’s Disease.

KM-819 has already shown superior efficacy of neuroprotection in cell models and of dopaminergic neuron protection in the midbrain in various animal models of Parkinson’s disease, as well as improvement in behavioral tests, strongly suggesting this drug has the potential to slow or even stop the progression of Parkinson’s Disease.

About KM-819

KM-819 is a small molecule developed as an inhibitor for FAF1, a proapoptotic protein, targeting various degenerative diseases. It has shown a superior neuroprotective efficacy in Parkinson’s Disease models, entered in clinical trials with the aim of proving efficacy in human patients. KM-819 may be also explored in other indications for different degenerative diseases including multiple system atrophy (MSA). It shows an excellent safety profile in both long-term animal toxicology studies and the human clinical trial phase 1 study.

About Parkinson’s Disease

Parkinson’s Disease is the second most common chronic CNS disease, next to Alzheimer’s Disease, estimated to afflict 6 to 10 million patients worldwide and 1 million in the United States. It is more common in elderly people, with 2-3 % aged 65 and over now affected, and an expectation of an increase in the number of patients as the population continues to age. The current standard of care is symptomatic treatments by supplementing dopamine or dopamine agonists or analogous mechanisms, and the disease modifying treatment is one of the major unmedical needs to block the progression.

About FAScinate Therapeutics Inc.

FAScinate Therapeutics Inc., a subsidiary of the Korean Biotech company Kainos Medicine Inc., is a clinical stage biotechnology company based in San Diego, California focused on the development of novel therapeutics for central nervous system diseases. FAScinate has licensed KM-819 for clinical development and commercialization from Kainos Medicine, and is moving it to phase 2 study in the US for Parkinson’s Disease. Mind Body Align Supports Community Wellness with More Free Resources Supporting Mental Health

“Have you ever worked with difficult people? We’ve all been there. Mindfulness is one part of the puzzle to turning those situations into productive work relationships. The mindfulness practice supports better relationships at work.”

Mind Body Align (MBA) keeps creating new opportunities to support mental health, wellness, and personal development using mindfulness. They are expanding their free resources to include virtual mindfulness classes. On November 4, 2021, at 3:45 pm EST, MBA is adding a 15-minute virtual community mindfulness practice. This inclusive experience will be ongoing, each Thursday via Live Zoom® and is in addition to the session already available every Wednesday at 8:15 am. Access the experience using this link or find the link on the Mind Body Align website.

“Just this week, ABC News reported that the teachers and staff at Columbus City Schools are so in need of a break that they are taking a wellness week,” said Julie Braumberger, Director of Education for Mind Body Align. “We teach in schools, and we see how the global pandemic continues to impact our community in many ways. Our team is always working to provide mindful resources to support mental health. MBA creates curriculum and teaches mindful social emotional learning in schools. Plus, we are developing workplace mindfulness programs.”

“Humans are constantly bombarded with data and images- all day, every day. The goal of Connect In, our weekly mindfulness practice, is to create a space for people to join a community in whatever manner feels comfortable to them,” said Annamarie Fernyak, Founder of MBA. “It can feel awkward entering a room, even a Zoom® room. There are many days when I have just emerged from pickle ball practice, sweaty and with my hair askew- on those days, I keep my screen off. I recently noticed my friend changed her screen name because she wanted privacy. This practice is whatever you want it to be! The experience is to take a few minutes and be guided in a reflection and a time to quiet your mind.”

There is a reason many workplaces, like AETNA and Google, are embracing mindfulness as a way of improving collaboration, reducing employee job stress, and other positive outcomes. This AETNA article shares nine reasons to implement mindfulness programs in the workplace. In addition to reducing job stress and improving collaboration, just 15 minutes of mindfulness is proven to improve the ability to focus, resist distractions, and mono task.

When asked how the mindfulness practice helps in the workplace, certified workplace mindfulness educator Linda Snyder said, “Have you ever worked with difficult people? We’ve all been there. Mindfulness is one part of the puzzle to turning those situations into productive work relationships. The mindfulness practice supports better relationships at work.”

Each session, each week is a different experience. It will include guided practice and a few minutes of quiet stillness. The Thursday afternoon mindfulness practice is the second free session MBA offers each week; the other is Wednesday at 8:15 am EST also on Zoom®.

MBA’s mindfulness practice is inclusive. “We welcome participants to practice exactly as they are,” said Caryl Church Jesseph, co-creator of the program. “Our experiences are sensitive and flexible to the ways an individual chooses to participate in our virtual space. By responding to the invitation to be mindful, we hope our community circles will widen, deepen, and people will find more presence with one another and themselves.”

Coordinating the Four Functions of the Human Mind Can Resolve All Conflicts and Suffering

Leonard Perlmutter (Ram Lev) author of YOUR CONSCIENCE

“When you coordinate all Four Functions of the Mind, the Conscience can reliably reflect your own Super Conscious Wisdom to resolve all conflicts and suffering.” – Leonard Perlmutter (Ram Lev)

According to Leonard Perlmutter, author of the new book, YOUR CONSCIENCE, humanity possesses the innate creative potential to resolve all political, social, racial and economic conflicts and suffering. And in an excerpt from his book in the November, 2021 issue of Transformation the Journal of Yoga Science as Holistic Mind/Body Medicine, Perlmutter explains in precise, understandable detail that by coordinating the Four Functions of the Mind and using the Conscience to access Super Conscious Wisdom, every human being can solve all of life’s challenges.

But why should you care? Why is this book different? And why is an understanding of the mind, and the role of the Conscience, so critically important? Physicist Albert Einstein made it perfectly clear when he said, “Problems cannot be solved on the level at which they appear. They must be solved on a higher level.” Armed with that hypothesis since 1977, Leonard Perlmutter and his wife Jenness have committed themselves, for 44 years, to performing an ongoing series of scientific experiments. Their purpose has been to transform the inherent, debilitating energy of stress, fear, anger and greed into reserves of healing energy, will power and creativity. Many of their results are presented in the book, YOUR CONSCIENCE.

This short, profound book can transform lives. It offers simple tools to access our unlimited wisdom and creativity, tools we never learned in any level of our schooling. Imagine the potential for renewal if an entire generation gained the confidence to know what’s to be done and what’s not to be done in every moment, no matter what the challenge. And without question, as Leonard Perlmutter reminds us in YOUR CONSCIENCE, “We have many challenges––both personal and global. These include: Abortion, Addiction, Aging, Anger, Anxiety, Bullying, Burnout, Civil Rights, Climate, Change, Death, Depression, Education, Family, Fear, Food, Government, Greed, Gun Control, Health, Immigration, LGBTQIA, Marriage, Misogyny, Money, Moral Decline, Non-Truth, Parenting, Politics, Pollution, Poverty, Racism, Self-Preservation, Sex, Sleep, Stress, Terrorism, and Violence.”

Perlmutter concludes that, “The freedom to skillfully resolve such conflicts and suffering is the real and practical gift that comes from coordinating the Four Functions of the Mind. Then, in the absence of dissension from the Ego, Senses and Unconscious, the Conscience is free to guide each of us to realize the brilliance of confidence and imperishable comfort we all long for.”

YOUR CONSCIENCE can be adapted for students in middle school through advanced graduate degrees, as well as for adult education programs in community centers, cultural institutions, places of worship, and other educational venues. The book has been endorsed by educator Tara Brach, Dean Ornish MD, Bernie Siegel MD, and others.

“YOUR CONSCIENCE, The Key to Unlock Limitless Wisdom and Creativity and Solve All of Life’s Challenges” by Leonard Perlmutter with Jenness Cortez Perlmutter; AMI Publishers; First Edition; Nonfiction; Self-Help and Personal Growth; Release Date: September 7, 2021; Paperback: $14.95 ISBN 9780975375266.

Available: amazon.com, bn.com, americanmeditation.org, and other national booksellers.

Author:

Leonard Perlmutter (Ram Lev) is founder of the American Meditation Institute and originator of National Conscience Month. Mr. Perlmutter’s first book, The Heart and Science of Yoga® was endorsed by Dean Ornish MD, Dr. Oz, and Bernie Siegel MD. Over the past 26 years, he has served on the faculties of the New England Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts and the International Himalayan Yoga Teachers Association in Calgary, Canada. He has taught workshops on the benefits of the conscience, meditation and Yoga Science at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Kaiser Permanente, numerous medical schools, The New York Times forum on Yoga, and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point Association of Graduates. Friction Labs® Kicks Off the Holiday Season with the Perfect Fitness Gift

Friction Labs. The New Standard in Chalk

“I use Friction Labs Secret Stuff liquid chalk to keep my hands dry and give me a stronger grip while climbing and weightlifting,” said NFL Left Guard Wes Schweitzer, from the Washington Football Team.

As we head into the holidays, health and wellness are top of mind, and who doesn’t want a little Unicorn Dust or Secret Stuff to fill their stockings? With names that are as fun as the items are hard-working, Friction Labs delivers the new standard in chalk for athletes who demand a better grip.

“I use Friction Labs Secret Stuff liquid chalk to keep my hands dry and give me a stronger grip while climbing and weightlifting,” said NFL Left Guard Wes Schweitzer, from the Washington Football Team. “Many of my climbing and lifting exercises are similar, which benefits my play on the field with increased awareness, core strength, grip strength, overall strength and athleticism. Thanks to climbing last year I had my best season yet and expect to be even better this year.”

For the fitness fanatic list, Friction Labs athletic chalk is giftable for any athlete in archery, CrossFit, climbing, disc golf, golf, gymnastics, racquet sports, sharpshooting, weightlifting and more. Originally developed to meet the demands of rock climbers, their chalk products are now used and trusted by top athletes requiring dependable, long-lasting grip, making it the perfect gift this holiday season with many options under $20.

“All of our products, from loose chalk to liquid chalk, are a great surprise for the athletes on your holiday list,” said Keah Kalantari, co-founder of Friction Labs. “The foundation of Friction Labs has always been to create athletic chalk that enables every athlete, across a wide variety of sports, to reach their maximum potential by providing a safe, healthy, strong, dry grip, making our chalk the perfect stocking stuffer for your athlete.”

From the fan-favorite ultra-fine Unicorn Dust to the newest Secret Stuff Hygienic liquid chalk, Friction Labs products are all made in the U.S., stripped of unnecessary fillers and additives, and have zero drying agents. The high purity magnesium carbonate provides long-lasting moisture absorption and is great for all skin types.

“In 2020 when the pandemic hit, we knew we needed to provide athletes with a product to keep them safe while working out,” said Kevin Brown, CEO and co-founder of Friction Labs. “We created the first chalk cream that outperformed hand sanitizer at killing COVID-19 and pathogenic bacteria called Secret Stuff Hygienic.”

The purity of Friction Labs chalk is so high that it has even been used in the brewing of beer. In 2021 the company partnered with Denver’s first and oldest brewpub, Wynkoop Brewing Company, to enrich the flavor of their hand-crafted beer by adding Unicorn Dust to the brew. Water in Colorado lacks the necessary nutrients and minerals to complement the taste of the beer, which means master brewers must add them into the brewing process. The brewing company has been adding Friction Labs chalk to their specially crafted IPA ensuring a smooth pillowy taste to the three batches.

Friction Labs products include:

Liquid Chalk

  • One bottle lasts up to 100 uses with no mess and promotes healthy skin as it’s made with non-toxic, silica-free, pigment-free chalk making it safe for kids and adults.
  • Choose from three varieties that dry in 20-90 seconds: Secret Stuff Original, Alcohol Free Secret Stuff and Secret Stuff Hygienic, a chalk cream that outperformed hand sanitizer at killing COVID-19 and pathogenic bacteria.

Loose Chalk

  • High performance loose chalk for every preference means chalking up less, overcoming grip issues from sweat, rain, humidity, oils and sunscreen.
  • Choose from three varieties, ultrafine Unicorn Dust, chunky Gorilla Grip, or super chunky Bam Bam.

All products are available at Friction Labs, Amazon or gyms and retail locations across the United States.

About Friction Labs

Founded in 2013 Friction Labs produces the cleanest, most dependable athletic chalk on the market. Made responsibly in the U.S., it is now trusted by top athletes requiring dependable, long-lasting grip. Their high purity magnesium carbonate provides unrivaled moisture absorption in a single application and is great for all skin types. SIU School of Dental Medicine Receives $1M Gift in Kind from Bien Air

An SIU SDM student operates a technologically-advanced electric handpiece at a preclinical student workstation.

“Through the generous donation by Bien Air, it has been possible for the school to embrace this technological advancement, which will help us to continue to train excellent dental practitioners.”

The Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine (SIU SDM) has received a $1 million in-kind donation from Bien Air USA, Inc. The company donated and is installing 256 new electric systems that operate the handpieces used in every patient workstation across the patient clinics in the Alton, Edwardsville and East St. Louis campuses, as well as in all the preclinical student workstations. The systems provide a significant technological advancement from those being replaced.

“Technology is rapidly evolving in the practice of dentistry,” said SDM Dean Bruce Rotter, DMD. “It is incumbent on dental schools to provide training that will prepare our graduates to utilize this technology.”

Faculty and staff in the SDM’s Department of Restorative Dentistry had determined that the previously used air-driven units were in critical need of technological advancement. However, the cost of converting to electric handpieces was prohibitive.

“Through the generous donation by Bien Air, it has been possible for the school to embrace this technological advancement, which will help us to continue to train excellent dental practitioners,” Rotter said.

The new handpieces offer numerous advantages over traditional air-driven handpieces. By operating at half the revolutions per minute than air-driven units, they produce greater cutting power with more precise margins, less heat and less noise.

“The most popular feature among patients is the elimination of high-pitched whining,” said Randall Duncan, DDS, clinical associate professor and chair of the Department of Restorative Dentistry. “Operating this handpiece also requires a shorter learning curve for students because it’s greater cutting efficiency makes it easier to control. It is also possible to easily cut and polish all materials used in today’s dental offices that air-driven units often struggled to cut through.”

“This avant-garde technology offers exceptional ergonomics and unmatched performance,” said Arthur Mateen, general manager of Bien Air USA. “We are proud to partner with the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in providing the latest equipment for the training of future dentists.”

SIU School of Dental Medicine students manage approximately 35,000 patient visits each year at patient clinics in Alton and East St. Louis. In addition, students offer oral health treatment, screenings and education to more than 10,000 people annually through a wide variety of off-campus community outreach events. These opportunities provide students the training they need to graduate and become highly skilled dentists. The School of Dental Medicine is a vital oral health care provider for residents of southern and central Illinois, and the St. Louis metropolitan region.

Clint Winters, Medical Scientist, Announces Patent Filing on CONO1000™, A Novel Conolidine Pain Relief Active Ingredient

“Conolidine has been incredibly intriguing to me since I first read the initial pain relief research. I have worked very hard to develop a natural version. From day 1, I knew this innovation was special as it could provide safe and powerful relief to millions struggling with daily pain.” – Clint W.

Winters Biotechnology has announced patent filings for CONO1000™, a novel dietary ingredient featuring the conolidine alkaloid formulated for natural pain relief.

For years, conolidine, a naturally occurring alkaloid found inside the bark of the Tabernaemontana divaricata tree, has been studied for its ability to relieve pain.

It was initially investigated in 2011 after being compared therapeutically to morphine without exhibiting side effects or addiction risk in rat models.

In 2019, Australian scientists discovered it had similar pain-killing modalities as CBD.

Then in early 2021, scientists reconfirmed its ability to significantly relieve chronic pain as they pinpointed its ability to affect the ACKR3/CXCR7 receptor.

However, until recently, most scientific innovation has centered around isolating and synthesizing conolidine for an eventual pharmaceutical application.

However, Clint Winters and Winters Biotechnology have been studying natural conolidine extractions since 2017 in hopes of developing a novel natural ingredient.

Earlier this year, they announced patents on a novel nutrient extraction system named the DualPolar™ extraction method, which is used to create a full-spectrum extraction of Tabernaemontana divaricata.

Clint Winters, now considered the world’s leading authority on natural conolidine, had this to say about the innovation.

“Conolidine has been incredibly intriguing to me since I first read the initial pain relief research. I have worked very hard to develop a natural version. From day 1, I knew this innovation was special as it could provide safe and powerful relief to millions struggling with daily pain. My firm and I took a much different approach than other scientists. I focused on creating a full-spectrum natural extraction of Tabernaemontana divaricata. After nearly three years of research, I am proud to show CONO1000™ to the world.”

Thanks to the DualPolar™ extraction method, Winters Biotechnology has successfully developed a full-spectrum alkaloid extraction.

CONO1000™ not only includes the conolidine alkaloid, but it also includes 65 other naturally occurring alkaloids found in this potent medicinal plant.

This innovation means that the potent conolidine alkaloid can finally be accessed in a natural state.

Clint Winters went on to say,

“I truly believe CONO1000™ is the future of safe and natural pain relief. In tests, we have been able to develop sublingual and topical applications with extraordinary efficacy. I have watched this powerful ingredient dramatically change lives in our private tests. I am excited to watch it help millions in the years to come as it becomes available worldwide.”

Currently, CONO1000™ is the first and only natural conolidine ingredient available in the world.

Since it is not synthetic, it will not require a prescription, making it available immediately.

Winters Biotechnology is currently in discussions with multiple leading manufacturers regarding the production and distribution of CONO1000™.

This novel ingredient should be available worldwide by 2022 in all major world markets.

Additionally, Winters Biotechnology is slated to release enhanced versions of CONO1000™ within the next twelve months as support ingredients are identified.

You can learn more about Clint Winters, Winters Biotechnology and CONO1000™ by visiting WintersBiotechnology.com.

Winters Biotechnology is a medical innovation firm based in Alpharetta, GA. The company is wholly owned by Private Equity Firm Winters Capital Investments and was founded by medical scientist, entrepreneur, entertainment figure, and investor Clint Winters. The firm focuses on creating unique dietary ingredients and innovative nutraceutical and pharmaceutical manufacturing methods that manufacturers can license.

In addition to the CONO1000™ patent filing, Mr. Winters has also filed two patents with the conolidine alkaloid natural pain killer and an additional patent in relation to the enhancement of CBD.

The firm is currently developing two novel drug delivery mechanisms that will be under patent by the end of the year.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Winters developed and patented a non-thermal infrared technology that is now being used for accelerated healing and pain relief.
