The Dentist Entrepreneur Organization [DEO], dentistry’s premier community for supporting dental leaders on their journey from a practice to a self-managing organization, is pleased to announce that it has acquired both Traction for Dental and joyFULL People. Traction for Dental was the only Certified EOS® Implementation business focused solely on multi-location dental companies, while it’s sister company, joyFULL People, serves the industry with simple, 24/7 online curriculum for finding, managing, and growing millennial dental teams.

“Many of our fastest growing member businesses were already working with Traction for Dental, and many more were preparing to. We serve the same unique market in two totally symbiotic ways, so growing into one company was inevitable and exciting” said Jacob Puhl, CEO of the DEO.

The acquisition of Traction for Dental will immediately result in the formation of the DEO Coaching and Implementation unit, of which Josey Sewell will be CEO. “Our customers are experiencing extraordinary growth and life satisfaction in a space that was typically filled with overwhelming stress and frustration. This partnership with the DEO will allow us to deliver an abundance architecture that is now more specific to the needs of dental entrepreneurs than was allowed by our previous affiliation with EOS®. At the same time, the acquisition of joyFULL People will accelerate the DEO mission to “grow your team” through joyFULL’s millennial-focused approach to people development. “Now, more than any other time in history, dentistry is seeing how valuable its teams really are. The same ‘people systems’ that got us here won’t be what serves our changing workforce. By unifying joyFULL People and the DEO, we are signaling our joint commitment to truly supporting the industry through the development of our future teams and leaders,” remarked Eric J. Roman, DDS, co-founder of joyFULL People. At the completion of the transaction, Dr. Roman will be responsible for developing the DEO product, both through training and leadership development.

“With DEO Members managing over $2.3 billion in practice revenue, this acquisition is the cornerstone of DEO’s mission to build happier, more accomplished dental leaders, dental teams, and ultimately an industry that we can all be proud of. I can’t wait for our members to see the impact of this event. Internally, there’s so much excitement. But the real barometer of our success together will be on the leaders and teams that we serve,” said Jacob Puhl, CEO.

Curio Wellness Announces Passage of New Jersey Senate Bill 2875, Expanding Diverse Ownership Access for Entrepreneurs Entering the Medical Cannabis Market

News Image

“The passing of this bill directly addresses the lack of access to startup capital and operational resources that has resulted in insufficient diversity in ownership throughout the cannabis industry here in New Jersey,” said State Senator Troy Singleton.

Curio Wellness, a cGMP-certified, vertically integrated medical cannabis company, announced the passage of New Jersey Senate Bill 2875 as signed by Governor Phil Murphy. The bill, which was passed on October 18, 2021, revises restrictions on ownership of medical cannabis alternative treatment centers and expands the scope of review of alternative treatment center permit applications and related materials.

Curio Wellness initiated the drafting and passage of the legislation, allowing the company to bring its Curio Wellness Investment Fund (the Fund) to the Garden State, which will expand medical cannabis dispensary licensees to diverse entrepreneurs entering the market.

The legislation was sponsored and championed by Senator Troy Singleton in collaboration with Curio Wellness.

“The passing of this bill directly addresses the lack of access to startup capital and operational resources that has resulted in insufficient diversity in ownership throughout the cannabis industry here in New Jersey,” said State Senator Troy Singleton. “We’re excited about the significant impact of this social equity program model and its ability to bring real economic empowerment among groups that are typically overlooked by investors.”

As stated in Governor Phil Murphy’s signing statement accompanying the legislation, “I applaud the bill’s sponsors for seeking to address what can be a major impediment to some prospective cannabis business owners: accessing the capital necessary to start and sustain their businesses. This bill will not only enable investors to support multiple businesses, but will also allow new entrepreneurs who have been historically underrepresented as business owners in the nation’s regulated cannabis industries to receive capital, training, and assistance in running a successful business.”

Announced in December 2020, the Curio Wellness Investment Fund aims to strengthen diversity and inclusion across the cannabis industry. In addition to anyone from a qualified state being able to apply to become a franchisee, the Fund also provides women, minorities and disabled veterans the opportunity to apply for startup capital and operational infrastructure, which sets these entrepreneurs on a three-year path to 100% ownership. The Fund’s goal is to provide up to 50 eligible applicants with the capital needed to open and operate a Curio Wellness franchise.

“The passage of Senate Bill 2875 is a real game changer for Black and other businesses seeking to participate equitably in the multi-billion-dollar medical cannabis industry,” said John E. Harmon, Sr., President and CEO of the African American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey and former chairman of the National Black Chamber of Commerce. “Raising the requisite amount of capital to participate in this growth industry has been a barrier for many whom desired to take part. Thanks to the leadership of New Jersey legislature and Governor Murphy, more New Jersey businesses will have access to the many opportunities available in the medical cannabis industry.”

Under the new legislation, the Fund can provide up to 92% of the required capital to open and operate a Far & Dotter franchised dispensary to 7 licensees who qualify in New Jersey.

“This has been a long but important effort to bring our fund opportunity to the state of New Jersey through the passing of this bill,” said Jerel Registre, managing director of the Fund. “With a new round of cannabis dispensary licensees soon to be awarded, we hope to showcase the significance of the franchising opportunity and economic resources as a true testament to Curio’s dedication to support aspiring and diverse entrepreneurs in the industry. Our hope is that other states feel inspired to move forward on similar social equity provisions that create an equitable cannabis licensing program.”

Entrepreneurs interested in becoming a franchisee or applying for capital through the Curio Wellness Investment Fund can apply at: http://www.faranddotter.com.

New Technology in Assisted Living Community in Ottawa, Illinois

New Technology being used in Assisted Living Community

The robot is a great asset to the community and dietary team, as it doesn’t replace anyone but adds to the quality of service.

Heritage Woods of Ottawa is pioneering innovative technology in senior living with their new robot! This new robotic friend will provide enhanced engagement for residents and staff during the dining experience. Residents will soon be hosting a contest to come up with a name for the new dietary team member. This robot is a “runner”, so it will shuttle food from the kitchen to the residents. It’s helpful because dietary staff can remain in the dining room and interact with residents.

The robot works in the kitchen and dining rooms by sensors that are in four zones on the ceiling that are invisible to the naked eye. The dining room is mapped out for the robot, and it stops in the zone of the table’s location. It is on a timer, so when the time is up it returns to the kitchen. Also, if the robot needs more time to deliver the food you need to touch the screen to say that. There is a touch screen with the zones and activity right on the robot. It is very user friendly.

The cooks like the addition of the robot because the food gets delivered as soon as it’s plated, which improves the service time. The robot has three shelves on it so that many tables and residents can be served at once, saving time and steps for the team members. They noticed that the cycle of food service is going very smoothly between beverages, order taking, and order delivery.

The screen on the robot can be programmed with pictures as well. Currently it has a picture of the front of the building but will add pictures of entrees and other dishes. The administrator at Heritage Woods of Ottawa, Peggy Morgan, says, “We will be using it to sing happy birthday to residents, I believe our next birthday is on November 3rd, so we will have to take a video then!”

Residents have been enjoying this new concept. They, of course, have many questions about the robot, and it has provided them with great entertainment. The robot sings, talks, and dances! It’s a great tool to the residents to have in their community.

Heritage Woods of Ottawa is the first Assisted Living/Senior care facility that RichTech Robotics has used. They have used them in restaurants before, but not for Senior Care until now. The robot is a great asset to the community and dietary team, as it doesn’t replace anyone but adds to the quality of service.

vFairs Partners with Bospar and Nine Additional Agencies to Host Virtual Job Fair to Hire Texas-based PR Pros Against Abortion Ban

Banner for PRoviding Choices virtual job fair, running from November 4 to December 4 2021.

The PRoviding Choices job fair is the result. It is the perfect antidote to the Texas Abortion Ban — we are giving employees choices! – Curtis Sparrer, Bospar co-founder and principal.

vFairs, the world’s leading virtual event platform, has announced its partnership with Bospar and nine other PR agencies to host a virtual job fair to assist PR professionals looking to relocate from Texas in response to the abortion ban or to simply offer PR pros across the country job opportunities working for companies who are willing to take a stand for their employee’s reproductive health. The PRoviding Choices Virtual Job Fair starts at 7 a.m. CDT on Nov. 4 and will run for 30 days. The event is free and open to public relations and communications professionals across all levels.

Candidates will have the opportunity to browse and apply to open roles, learn more about company culture and network with agency representatives through an in-event chat function. This group of PR firms offer full-flexibility remote work, care about their employees and are willing to take a firm stance on tough topics such as the Texas Abortion Ban. The ten participating companies include Bateman Agency, BOCA, Bospar, EvolveMKD, Highwire PR, Karbo Communications, Manhattan Strategies, Redwood Climate Communications, Strange Brew Strategies and Trier and Company.

This comes at a time when many companies, including corporations and large tech companies such as Salesforce, are offering support to Texas-based workers including compensating their relocation or assisting in finding them roles outside of the state. The migration of workers, and possibly corporate offices, out of Texas will directly influence new out-of-state job opportunities in the public relations and communications sector as well.

“When news of the Texas Abortion Ban broke, Bospar knew it had to do something,” said Curtis Sparrer, Bospar co-founder and principal. “As a company that wants to maintain and attract the best talent, we believe our relocation program makes good business sense. From the beginning, our hope was that other companies would also speak out — and they did! The PRoviding Choices job fair is the result. It is the perfect antidote to the Texas Abortion Ban — we are giving employees choices!”

“We’re very happy to assist Bospar and its partners in providing opportunities to workers looking for new opportunities due to the Texas Abortion Ban,” said Muhammad Younas, CEO of vFairs. “Addressing the topic in a safe and productive manner is key.”

The event is free and registration is open to the public. Interested parties can register via this link.

RelayOne, a provider of surgical care team coordination solutions, announced today that Bill Pully, President Emeritus for the North Carolina Healthcare Association (NCHA), has joined the company’s Board of Advisors. In this role, Pully will leverage his 35+ year career in working with hospital leaders to guide the company in its market expansion efforts.

Pully received the prestigious Ronald Levine Legacy Award by the NC Division of Public Health in 2012 for his significant, sustainable and positive improvements to health and quality of life in North Carolina.

According to RelayOne CEO Cam Sexton, “Bill’s unique perspective having helped health system leaders successfully navigate the many challenges they’ve faced over the past few decades is invaluable to us. The webinar will address the causes of medical device infections, design strategies for infection prevention for single use and reusable devices, intellectual property (IP) and environmental concerns, and design verification for infection prevention. Due to the growth of drug-resistant microbes and hospital-acquired infections, infection prevention is critical for medical device manufacturers, as medical devices can harbor drug-resistant microbes and transmit device-related infections – even after the devices have been disinfected.

He has also been named one of the top 250 Patent and Technology Licensing Practitioners in the world by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) Magazine, an “IP Star” by Managing IP magazine, a “Life Science Star” by LMG Life Sciences, one of the World’s Leading IP Strategists in the IAM 300, and is listed in Chambers.

Exponent is “a global engineering and scientific consulting firm that brings together more than 90 different disciplines to address complex issues facing industry and government today,” according to its website. For over 50 years, Exponent has provided engineering, scientific, environmental and health consulting services to corporations, insurance carriers, government agencies, law firms, and individuals.
