Whatzit Spine Revision Intelligence App Inks First Sponsorship Deal With DuraStat, Inc.

Essential Ventures LLC, the Austin-based owner and operator of the Whatzit mobile application for spine implant identification, is pleased to announce that it has signed DuraStat, Inc., maker of the innovative DuraStat dural repair device, as the app’s first sponsor.

The sponsorship will allow Whatzit to accelerate development of two exciting new technologies harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to further secure and simplify the implant identification process. “Simply put, revision spine surgery planning and preparation is stuck in the past,” says Founder, Matthew Twite. “With Whatzit, the goal is to optimize this critically important process by providing a secure platform for both collaboration and research. I’m thrilled to have signed with DuraStat, Inc., a company that shares our passion for improving these often-difficult revision procedures. It’s no secret that the rate of incidental durotomy or ‘dural tear’ is very high in some of the most common types of revision spine surgeries. The breakthrough DuraStat device is an elegant solution ideally suited for these unfortunate situations.”
