WCVB Channel 5 Chronicle Reporter and Producer Nicole Estaphan to Emcee Melanoma Research Foundation’s Miles for Melanoma 5K

The Melanoma Research Foundation (MRF) is thrilled to announce that WCVB Channel 5 Chronicle Reporter and Producer Nicole Estaphan will be returning as the event emcee for the annual Miles for Melanoma New England 5K event on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Franklin Park Zoo. Estaphan will welcome guests to the Opening Ceremonies beginning at 8:30AM ET and kick off the 5K which starts at 9:00AM ET. This event will bring together hundreds of New England melanoma patients, survivors and their families with a goal of raising $70,000 for melanoma research.

In addition to being the Miles for Melanoma New England emcee, Estaphan joined WCVB NewsCenter 5 in January of 2016 as a freelance news reporter. Before joining WCVB, she reported in Utica, New York; Burlington, Vermont; Providence, Rhode Island; and most recently Atlanta, Georgia at WAGA-TV FOX 5.

Estaphan takes pride in her charity work, serving as event emcee for The Muscular Dystrophy Association, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, The National Brain Tumor Society and Girls, Inc. She also volunteers at a dog rescue shelter in Dedham, MA. Above all else, she believes that sharing our stories can be life changing. Of all her work, encouraging younger generations is of utmost importance to her. She is currently working on a program with the Children’s Smile Coalition, to help kids living in poverty find their voice and confidence through public speaking.

The annual 5k event helps to both raise essential funds to support melanoma research and elevate public awareness around early detection and prevention of cutaneous melanoma and rare melanoma subtypes. The Miles for Melanoma program also highlights the importance of sun safety and scheduling annual dermatological skin checks. The New England Miles Strength Sponsor, Massachusetts General Hospital will provide complimentary on-site skin checks to all registered participants on event day.

The MRF team is thrilled to welcome a wide range of local presenting and national sponsors to the New England event this May. The 2023 local sponsors include Aura, Alkermes, W.L. French, Foghorn Therapeutics and Massachusetts General Hospital. The 2023 national sponsors include National Prevention Sponsor Neutrogena, National Apparel Partner Cabana Life and National Courage Sponsor Pfizer.

To register for this year’s event, visit 2023 New England Miles for Melanoma. Regular rate registration will close on Wednesday, May 10th at 11:59 pm ET.
