“The MAB’s experience will be invaluable to VIC’s technology assessment process which includes both evaluations of technical competitive advantage and market adoption drivers among many other considerations.” said Calvin Goforth, CEO of VIC

VIC’s newly formed Medical Advisory Board (MAB) provides VIC with additional domain expertise across a variety of life science disciplines. MAB members support VIC’s opportunity assessment team by reviewing new technologies that have the potential to be the basis for new companies that VIC may form. VIC creates and develops high-impact life science companies based on technologies exclusively licensed from top research institutions worldwide. The MAB also serves as an expert resource to guide these medical innovations to market. MAB members may, at times, take advisory roles with companies working within their field of expertise.

Initial MAB members include Dr. Steven Alaniz an Aerospace Medicine Flight Commander for the 301st Medical Squadron, Dr. Bassam Ghabach, Medical Director of the JPS Center for Cancer Care in Fort Worth, Texas and former Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, Dr. Drew Kumperis a cardiologist in Little Rock, Arkansas, who recently retired after more than 40 years in private practice, Dr. Cristhiaan Ochoa a Pulmonary and Critical Care physician at JPS Health and Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at U.T. Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX, and Dr. Trevor Turner a board-certified Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Physician at Georgia Bone and Joint and Director of the Center for Regenerative Orthopedics. Several additional MAB members will be announced soon.

“We are excited to add these medical experts to our team,” said Calvin Goforth, CEO of VIC. “Their experience will be invaluable to VIC’s technology assessment process which includes both evaluations of technical competitive advantage and market adoption drivers among many other considerations. We will be adding MAB members across all the medical disciplines in which we have venture creation interest.”
