Baltimore-based nonprofit, Vehicles for Change, Inc. (VFC), welcomes Tysheba Morgan, MBA, Bank of America’s senior vice president of financial controls and governance to its board of directors. She joins nine other VFC board members dedicated to fulfilling the organization’s mission to empower families and individuals with financial challenges to achieve economic and personal independence through car ownership and technical training.

Morgan brings more than twenty years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, operational risk management, audit and controls. In her current position with Bank of America, Morgan is responsible for ensuring compliance, assessing risks, evaluating remediation progress and gathering other critical insights on business activities related to the financial institution’s financial controls and governance. She looks forward to leveraging her innovative problem-solving techniques to help make a difference for those served by VFC who are cyclically burdened by generational poverty.

“Tysheba is a fierce advocate for those in our communities who need a helping hand or second chance to find success in life,” said Martin “Marty” Schwartz, VFC’s president. “We know her decades of experience and commitment to our cause will go far when it comes to achieving our mission.”

Throughout her career, Morgan has worked at a number of Fortune 100 and 500 organizations, including Exelon Corporation in Baltimore, Md., where she served as the senior accounting manager in the generation and wholesale commodities business. She started her career at the Dow Chemical Company serving in positions of increasing responsibility in internal audit, finance, and accounting.

“It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of Vehicles for Change’s mission to help families and individuals, regardless of their background or history, become self-sufficient and independent,” said Morgan. “I look forward to lending my expertise toward supporting the organization’s vehicle award program, where low-income families are awarded affordable transportation, and its automotive re-entry program, where formerly incarcerated men and women are trained to be auto mechanics, in any way I can during my tenure with the board.”

Morgan also serves as director of the National Association of Black Accountants, Inc., where she chairs the student member services committee. She has also held titles as Baltimore Chapter President and Eastern Region Student Conference Co-Chair. Morgan earned both her post-graduate and undergraduate degrees of business administration in finance from Howard University in Washington, DC.
