Healthcare as we know it has forever changed. Today’s providers need tools designed to simplify the business of healthcare while helping practices become more efficient, effective and successful.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Updox, the only place to manage healthcare communications across both in-person and virtual care, continues to see an unprecedented need for innovative, easy-to-implement virtual care solutions for physicians and healthcare practices. In response, the company continues to facilitate more than 15,000 telehealth visits per day and is launching new solutions to meet practice and health system needs. It will also facilitate two informative SPARK Sessions during the Medical Group Management Association’s (MGMA) virtual Medical Practice Excellence Conference (MPEC) from Oct. 19-21 to better equip providers with resources to navigate virtual care in a post-COVID environment.

The first session, ‘A Roadmap for Navigating Virtual Care in a Post-COVID World,’ educates providers on developing a roadmap to leverage virtual care both now and post-COVID. Furthermore, the ‘Development of a Virtual Care Strategy for Long-term Success,’ session features healthcare leaders discussing how they were able to quickly implement technology to deliver patient care and maintain revenue. Attendees can find more details on the MGMA website here.

“Healthcare as we know it has forever changed. Today’s providers need tools designed to simplify the business of healthcare while helping practices become more efficient, effective and successful,” says Michael Morgan, CEO, Updox. “At Updox, we pride ourselves on listening to and understanding our customers’ pain points and challenges so that we can quickly and effectively bring to market the solutions they need to succeed in a post-COVID world. We are proud of our ability to innovate and adapt to the ever-changing healthcare landscape, and know that the forthcoming solutions in our roadmap will further optimize the patient experience, increase office productivity and drive organizational profitability for our customers.”

In March, Updox onboarded more than 10,000 new customer users to its HIPAA-compliant telehealth solution in just two weeks and, since then, facilitated more than 3.5 million telehealth visits between patients and their doctors. Based on customer feedback and increasing demand for solutions that seamlessly work together to improve practice efficiency and provide an engaging patient experience, Updox continues to bring new functionality to directly meet practice needs.

For example, Updox Forms, the latest solution in the Updox communication platform, is a paperless tool that enables practices to streamline documents in a more productive, cost-effective way. Updox Forms can be used as a stand-alone solution alongside any EHR or as part of a full virtual care strategy. Such a strategy includes solutions to improve the patient experience both in and out of the practice, from appointment scheduling to telehealth platforms. As traditional waiting rooms disappear, a full virtual care strategy needs to include paperless processes such as electronic forms and contactless check-in to support improved safety, clinical workflows and efficiencies, all while enabling doctors to spend more time with patients.

Forthcoming Updox solutions include:

  • Group Video Visits – Using Updox Video Chat, patients and providers will have the option to invite other participants to a video visit, so that the right people — translators, medical trainees, caretakers and more — can join in on virtual appointments.
  • Virtual Waiting Room Handoffs – A nurse, medical assistant or practice staff member can launch a video encounter with the patient and then place them back into the provider’s virtual waiting room. The provider can then continue the virtual visit when they are ready.

“Having all solutions within one platform is great for us. Updox is easy to use and it’s convenient to not have to log in and out of different systems each day,” says Erica Merlos, director of Administrative Services, Achieve Medical, a multidisciplinary, private psychiatric and mental health group with 12 locations across three states. “Updox helps our staff be much more efficient. We’re not scanning stacks of paper, leaving countless voicemails or retyping forms. We’re spending more time with patients and more satisfying work. Updox saves us at least seven hours a day – practically another staff person.”

MPEC conference attendees can visit Updox’s virtual booth or schedule a meeting via the MGMA website.
