Nelson Hardiman’s newest Partner, Lara Compton, is a healthcare problem solver who serves as outside general counsel for healthcare and life sciences companies.

Compton, who was elevated to Partner with the new year, moved from King & Spalding to Nelson Hardiman in 2016. She has been a significant contributor across the firm’s regulatory practice, from assisting institutional clients with various regulatory compliance, licensing, and operational matters to helping venture-backed clients navigate complex regulatory regimes in the development of new health technology and digital health-related products and services.

Compton has led multiple HIPAA breach investigations and has counseled clients on applicable reporting requirements. She also advises on compliance with federal and state anti-kickback and self-referral laws (e.g. Stark), and related fraud and abuse issues.
