Owl Insights, the leading provider of precision care management technology for behavioral health, announced the appointment of Thomas R. Insel, MD, former director of the National Institute of Mental Health and Google Verily leader, as a clinical advisor effective immediately.

Insel joins Owl Insights as a neuroscientist and psychiatrist with over 40 years of experience in clinical research and is most well-known for his studies of complex social behaviors relative to parental care and personal attachment. For 10 years, Insel directed the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), focusing on mental disorders. Prior to NIMH, Insel was the Founding Director of the Center for Behavioral Neuroscience at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. After resigning as Director at NIMH in 2015, Insel joined the Life Science Division at Verily (formerly Google X) until May 2017. Following Verily, Insel co-founded Mindstrong Health, a start-up developing digital assessments of mental health. Insel has won numerous national and international awards and is a member of the National Academy of Medicine.
