“It was a humiliating experience having to visit with my kids in front of a social worker who sat behind a desk and typed up my evaluation,” Steven said. “This degrading system robs single dads of their dignity while doing incalculable psychological harm to the children.”
It’s no secret that kids are better off when both parents are actively involved in their lives. However, according to the Paris-based Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, U.S. single fathers more often face systemic challenges of biased courts and overall inequity.
