Tumors that move due to patient breathing, such as those located in the chest or abdomen, have always presented a challenge to radiation oncologists and physicists. In the past 20 years, several advancements in radiation delivery technology have helped to conform the radiation dose to the targeted tumor, yet adverse effects are still common due to difficulty in sparing surrounding tissue.
