The American Foundation of Savoy Orders (Savoy Foundation) Grants $360,000 During Covid Crisis

This crisis has placed increased burdens on college students, homeless families, inner-city families, elderly care institutions and churches whose financial resources funding community-based, essential services have been impacted because of closed facilities instigated by the pandemic.

The American Foundation of Savoy Orders (Savoy Foundation) today announced record setting grants of $360,000 to support children’s welfare causes, elder care, university scholarships, education programs and church support for essential community services during the unprecedented COVID-19 health and economic crisis.

Savoy Foundation Chairman of the Board Carl J. Morelli and President Joseph Sciame in a joint statement said: “This crisis has placed increased burdens on our college students, homeless families struggling to feed their children, on inner-city families struggling to find substitutes for summer camp programs for their children, on elderly care institutions and churches whose financial resources funding community-based, essential services have been impacted because of closed facilities instigated by the pandemic.”

New York Foundling’s Summer Camp Program – $130, 000 raised through the Foundation’s New York Ballo di Savoia in December 2019, for the New York Foundling’s Summer Camp Program- $50,000 for the 2020 Virtual Camp and $80,000 for the 2021 Live Summer Camp

Caterina’s Club – $100,000 to Caterina’s Club in Anaheim, California, raised through the Foundation’s 2020 Virtual Notte di Savoia Los Angeles to increase meal production and distribution for homeless/motel families in need and which will provide meals to homeless/motel children deprived of supplemental school meals during the pandemic

Savoy Foundation’s Education and Operating Endowment – $100,000 matching gift raised from a generous donor and granted to the Foundation’s Permanent Education and Operating Endowments

Savoy Orders Pigott Scholarships – $10,000 in grants from the Savoy Orders Pigott Scholarships Fund to support university students in International Studies and the Humanities

Mercy Ships – $10,000 grant to Mercy Ships for pediatric surgeries in impoverished countries

Providence Rest – $5,000 grant to Providence Rest Home for the relief and care of the elderly

Cathedral of Saint Patrick – $6,000 in grants to this iconic spiritual symbol of faith and hope
