SSM Health is the first hospital system in Wisconsin to choose ESO Health Data Exchange (HDE). The staff of SSM Health will have access to timely, actionable data on patients arriving by ambulance, creating near real-time insights for more accurate assessments and treatment options. Additionally, EMS agencies will have more clinical information regarding patient outcomes to help improve the overall patient experience.
“This technology is the future of healthcare, setting the standard for integration between the prehospital and hospital environments,” said Dr. Kacey Kronenfeld, SSM Health EMS Program Medical Director. “It will allow us to streamline the way we communicate with our EMS partners, and thus, provide a higher level of exceptional care to our patients. Smooth and efficient information sharing is especially important now as we continue to navigate our way through the COVID-19 pandemic.”
ESO HDE facilitates the bidirectional exchange of data between EMS agencies and hospital emergency departments, ensuring real-time access to important clinical information.
Benefits for SSM Health include:
- Ensuring continuity in the patient care record for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
- Increasing timeliness of patient information being shared with emergency departments to improve patient outcomes.
- Creating a digitally-driven record sharing ecosystem that provides easy access to important clinical information, eliminating the need for unnecessary paperwork.
- Sharing of data with EMS agencies to close the clinical loop and help improve patient outcomes in the field.
“SSM Health is driving the future of healthcare in its communities,” said Dr. Brent Myers, Chief Medical Officer for ESO. “They are demonstrating the best practice for how emergency departments and EMS agencies can work together to leverage the power of data to create a comprehensive patient picture that will be beneficial for all.”
SSM Health EMS Program leaders are working to expand the ESO HDE to roughly 50 agencies across the south-central Wisconsin region.
