“I am thrilled to be a part of an organization that understands how critical the need for high-quality, customized eating disorder treatment programs are in the U.S. right now,” said Simmons.

Soul Surgery, a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based leading integrative medicine addiction center for those suffering from drug and alcohol addiction and mental health challenges, announced today it will begin accepting adults for its new eating disorder residential treatment facility, “RevealED” in January 2023.
RevealED was created out of community needs and unfortunate trends, illustrating that eating disorders are on the rise globally, increasing from 3.4% to 7.8% in 2022. Approximately 28 million Americans will have an eating disorder in their lifetime. Eating disorders are among the deadliest mental illnesses, second only to opioid overdose. More than 10,000 deaths yearly result from an eating disorder – about one every 52 minutes.
RevealED is accepting clients to begin treatment in the new year, offering a holistic, individualized program specific to each client’s needs, including trauma, mental health, nutrition counseling, re-feeding with chef-prepared meals, chiropractic services, biofeedback, EMDR, acupuncture, massage, nutrition, vitamin and nutrition IV therapy and more. All services are provided on-site at RevealED, a luxury, private facility in North Scottsdale. This is unique as most treatment facilities will refer patients to multiple providers for ancillary services, significantly decreasing the possibility that a client will complete all necessary components of a body, mind and spirit holistic, integrative medicine approach.
Treatment plans will vary and typically can last 30 days to six months. RevealED will also specialize in treating athletes. Athletes will follow a treatment track and work closely alongside a holistic wellness coach and Registered Dietitian and have the opportunity to integrate movement in their life with moderation by utilizing Soul Surgery’s full-service fitness center.
“We’ve had clients here at Soul Surgery who come in for another primary condition like drug or alcohol abuse, and they also have an eating disorder,” said Soul Surgery CEO & Founder John Mulligan. “Historically, we didn’t have the programming or the team to manage that until Melodie Simmons joined our team as Corporate Clinical Director. Her background, expertise, and passion is in eating disorders, and she has helped us hire the right experts to develop an offering that rivals anything else in the industry.”
Simmons is an accomplished leader licensed in Arizona as a professional counselor, a registered supervisor on the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners, a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist – Supervisor, and an American College of Healthcare Executives member. She will earn her Doctorate in Healthcare Administration in May 2023. Additionally, she is the 2023-2025 President of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (iaedp) Phoenix Chapter and is the 2021-2022 iaedp Marketing Committee Chair.
“I am thrilled to be a part of an organization that understands how critical the need for high-quality, customized eating disorder treatment programs are in the U.S. right now,” said Simmons. “There are wait lists at most eating disorder treatment facilities today. We will help people gain the manageability of their lives and help them find their identity apart from food, weight, size or shape, and find meaning, purpose, and value to be one’s authentic self.”
