The two-part CE course presented by Dr. Levi is designed to help dental hygienists determine the origin of dental pain, whether stemming from a periodontal issue or pulpal disease, to ultimately improve accuracy in diagnosis and treatment.

This continuing education (CE) course, “Diagnosis of Acute & Chronic Dental Pain” will be held virtually on August 27, 2020. Drs. The two-part CE course presented by Dr. Levi is designed to help dental hygienists determine the origin of dental pain, whether stemming from a periodontal issue or pulpal disease, to ultimately improve accuracy in diagnosis and treatment. During the first part of the course, participants will learn distinctions between gingival abscesses, periodontal abscesses, periapical abscesses, chronic and acute dental pain, cracked teeth, and problems caused by parafunctional trauma and sinusitis. They will also be presented with varying dental issues that have similar symptoms and gain the knowledge to make informed decisions about the cause of each problem. The presentation will additionally include the proper diagnosis and treatment of these specific dental problems.

The second part of the course will involve interactive training where dental hygienists will determine the etiology of dental issues of several patients. Participants will have the chance to vote, followed by the correct answers and proper course of treatment, including long-term follow-up. Upon conclusion of the course, dental hygienists will have a greater knowledge base and refined skills needed to provide an accurate diagnosis for varying dental problems.

The course hosts, Drs. Toback and Urbanski, regularly teach through their Shoreline Periodontics Hygiene Study Club and their Shoreline Periodontics Synergy Study Club, providing personalized and hands-on courses to improve the skills of their participants.
