There is enormous opportunity for SchoolCare’s growth as risk-bearing organizations are seeking solutions to close care gaps, improve quality performance, and more broadly, move towards greater health equity.

SchoolCare announced today the appointment of David Wennberg, M.D. as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors. With almost three decades of leadership experience building solutions for healthcare delivery systems and health plans, Wennberg brings deep healthcare technology experience to SchoolCare’s leadership team.

SchoolCare is the leading provider of student health records software in K-12 schools, powering the health of 1.6 million students across 29 states. SchoolCare’s platform enables nurses to chart health events electronically, allows district leaders to pull health compliance reports, and engages parents in their children’s health, all provided at no cost to parents and schools. The company partners with state departments, managed care organizations, and health systems to connect students to clinically appropriate, high quality care.

“I am thrilled to once again work with David and add his domain expertise building solutions for healthcare organizations to our team,” said Brett Shamosh, Chief Executive Officer of SchoolCare. “By partnering with K-12 school nurse offices, SchoolCare provides payers with real-time insights about their members directly from our school based EHR. The platform helps school nurses, providers and health plans identify health and SDoH factors and work together to engage families in effective interventions. Incentives are aligned across these stakeholders to improve health outcomes and quality performance while preventing unnecessary costs. I’m excited to have David on board to help us scale the solution with health systems and health plans and drive outcomes improvements for students across the country.”

David Wennberg, M.D., is currently a Board Member of Quartet Health a technology company transforming mental health. He previously served as CEO of Quartet from October 2018 through January 2021, leading the company through its $60 million Series D financing round led by Centene. Prior to becoming CEO, David was the Chief Science Officer, leading the Data Science function at Quartet and contributed significantly to business development.

“SchoolCare has done a tremendous job equipping an extensive network of school districts with a platform to track and report actionable health insights,” said Wennberg. “With the unique role school nurse offices play in the health care of children and adolescents, there is enormous opportunity for SchoolCare’s growth as risk-bearing organizations are seeking solutions to close care gaps, improve quality performance, and more broadly, move towards greater health equity.”
