Supporting The New York Foundling’s summer camp for inner-city youngsters fulfills the Savoy Foundation’s mission – Chivalry for Children’s Causes™
NEW YORK (PRWEB)
July 20, 2022
On July 18, 2022, the American Foundation of Savoy Orders presented a record grant of $150,000 to The New York Foundling’s Summer Camp Program for inner-city foster care children from funds raised from the Foundation’s 2021 Ballo di Savoia (Royal Savoy Ball) Winter Charity Gala.
More than 200 patrons, benefactors and guests gathered to support the Savoy Foundation’s 24th Annual white-tie dinner-dance on Saturday, December 11, 2021 in New York City at the Metropolitan Club. The Savoy Ball of New York continues a thousand-year tradition of goodwill and charitable giving under the patronage of the Royal House of Savoy. Their Royal Highnesses Prince Emmanuel Philibert of Savoy and Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia were honored guests at the event that raised funds in support of the Savoy Foundation’s philanthropic mission – Chivalry for Children’s Causes – and the event’s primary beneficiary – The New York Foundling Summer Camp Program for inner city foster-care children.
Joseph Sciame, Savoy Foundation President and Carl J. Morelli, Foundation Chairman of the Board with Savoy Foundation Board members Frank J. Desiderio and John Laurent Gelati presented the grant to Melanie Hartzog, President and CEO of The New York Foundling and Kirkley Strand, Vice President of Development and Communications at The Foundling’s headquarters in New York City. Ms. Hartzog expressed her gratitude to the Savoy Foundation for the impact that the funds raised at the charity ball would have for more than 150 disadvantaged youths. The New York Foundling’s camp is in a new location in Sandyston, New Jersey, offering activities such as swimming, boating, fishing, zipline, rock climbing, ropes course, sports, arts, music, dance, and more.
Messrs. Carl J. Morelli Chairman and Joseph Sciame, President of the American Foundation of Savoy Orders, commented: “We are each overwhelmed by the generosity of our supporters who attended the December 2021 Savoy Ball of New York as well as so many others not able to be with us who donated to our GoFundMe efforts. We know our grant will make a major difference in the lives of young boys and girls who can enjoy the outdoors this summer at The New York Foundling’s summer camp.”
