“The real winners here are all of our generous customers who continue to support their surrounding communities” – Austin Dressman

Roto-Rooter, North America’s largest provider of plumbing and drain repair services, is pleased to announce their second annual Giving Thanks Food Drive. During the entire month of November, customers can receive a 10% discount on plumbing and drain cleaning services (up to $75 off) when they donate two canned goods for people or animals in need. All food donations will be collected by the technician at time of service and distributed to a local food bank or pet shelter in time for the holidays.

“This year, our goal is loftier in light of the great challenges that community food banks are facing across the country due to COVID-19,” says Austin Dressman, Marketing and Communications Manager. “Last year, we collected more than 44,200 food items (over 24 tons of food!) for food banks and pet shelters in our communities. This year, with additional help from our contractor locations, we hope to reach 70,000 items collected company wide.”

Each year, various Roto-Rooter locations and individual employees compete to collect the greatest number of non-perishable goods. In 2019, Cleveland’s branch collected the largest percentage of donations, the Safety and Risk Management team collected the most donations at the home office, and Baltimore topped the list for the call center category. Frank Rivera, of the Camden location, single handedly collected the most canned goods –– with an impressive 707 items.

“Of course, the real winners here are all of our generous customers who continue to support their surrounding communities,” adds Dressman.

While canned goods are generally preferred as donations, other non-perishable products like unopened bagged food will also be accepted. Please note that all donated food items must be before their expiration dates.
