The Rotary Club of Southern Frederick County recently recognized four of its members with the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow recognition. This honor is awarded to individuals who demonstrate exceptional community service and provide outstanding support to the Rotary Foundation’s efforts both locally and globally.

Tom Seymour, David Sowers, Tim Pabon, and Kristin LeDuc were presented with their first Paul Harris Fellow recognition during a gathering of club members and the community. Tom Seymour, who served as the Past President for 2020-21, David Sowers, a charter member of the club and their current Sergeant at Arms, Tim Pabon, who joined the club last year and is the sponsor of the Urbana High School Interact Club, and Kristin LeDuc, who joined last year and is the Public Relations Chairman, were honored for their exceptional contributions to the community.

The Rotary Club was founded in 1905 by Paul Harris and three business associates in Chicago, and since then, it has become an international organization with millions of members worldwide. The Rotary Foundation, established in 1917, focuses on providing educational opportunities, healthy food, potable water, healthcare, immunizations, and shelter for people in need. With growing support of the Rotary Foundation, the Paul Harris Fellow was created in 1957 to recognize individuals who contributed $1,000 or more to the Rotary Foundation. Rotarians often designate a Paul Harris Fellow as a tribute to a person whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives of the Rotary Foundation.

“We are truly honored to have these four talented and dedicated individuals working hard in our community. Each of them displays their unique qualities that embody the purpose of the Paul Harris Fellow and further the efforts of the Rotary Foundation and the incredible success of our club,” said Dr. Jon Moles, Club Foundation Chair and Past President (2021-22/2014-15).

“We would like to extend our gratitude to these individuals, their families, and other community members who continue to support the Rotary Club of Southern Frederick County and its local and global efforts. These four members have proven, without reservation, that they support the Rotary International motto of ‘Service above Self.'”
