RMA of Connecticut, a leading fertility practice whose exceptional quality and care helps couples and individuals grow their family, has created an initiative designed to educate prospective fertility patients on the importance of using The Society of Assisted Reproductive Technology’s (SART) data to choose the best fertility clinic for a successful pregnancy. For hopeful parents-to-be, using SART is a way to access a particular clinic’s specific data, as well as national success rates. Understanding how to use that data to help choose the best fertility clinic is what RMA of Connecticut’s SART education initiative aims to do.

RMA of Connecticut will initiate a rollout of content with a concerted effort around SART education and understanding, including a video guide to reading the data snapshot reports, social promotion urging followers to utilize SART in their fertility practice considerations, and written features on patients who used SART to find and choose the best fertility clinic for their fertility journey.

Over 85% of fertility clinics in the U.S. choose to report their patient results to SART. In order to participate in SART and be a searchable clinic on the SART website, a clinic must work with nationally accredited laboratories and report their data truthfully. The goal of SART is to maintain the highest quality standards of in vitro fertilization and provide the patient with an honest advertisement of data. In addition to specific clinic representation, SART also reports a yearly National data set meant to serve as an industry baseline for the patient. SART encourages patients to compare their potential practice’s data to the National data set as opposed to other clinics, being mindful of varying demographics, treatment approaches, entrance criteria, etc.

In an effort to educate the public and to provide transparency, RMA of Connecticut’s latest success rate data in comparison to the National SART data is below. Success rates can only be pulled from the latest compilation of SART data, which is from 2017 (2018 data is also available, but still pending):

In 2017, RMA of Connecticut reported 1863 total cycles.

RMA of Connecticut’s percentage for a live birth for a new patient under 35 is 74.5%, which means that almost three out of four patients have a successful pregnancy. This is compared to the national SART rates, where 68.5% of patients in age group less than 35 had a live birth.

RMA of Connecticut’s twin birth rate for 2017 in the Live Birth Per New Patient in ages 35-37 is 4.5%. Compared to the national statistics in the same category is 11.2%. (There is a national SART initiative to decrease twin rates, focusing on achieving pregnancy of one healthy baby at a time.)
