Project Advance will enable scholarship recipients to earn an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree, which is a prerequisite to licensure as a registered nurse, without financial burden.
“Funded with a very generous gift of $600,000 from an anonymous donor, Project Advance provides scholarship opportunities for frontline LPNs serving in long-term care facilities,” says Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM, Rivier’s President. “Scholarships recipients receive funds to cover full tuition, books, and fees, enabling them to earn their associate degrees and RN credentials free from financial concerns.”
Rivier’s nursing classes are held on nights and weekends, enabling students to continue to work full-time while pursuing their degrees.
Dr. Paula Williams, Dean of Rivier’s Nursing and Health Professions Division, shares, “Project Advance scholarships help support diversity in the nursing workforce and elevate the level of patient care. By advancing the educations and careers of LPNs, these scholarships enable the fulfillment of Rivier’s mission of transforming hearts and minds to serve the world.”
Prospective students must apply to the University’s LPN to ASN program and to the Project Advance scholarship program. Admissions criteria and scholarship guidelines are detailed at rivier.edu/projectadvance. The scholarship is available to new students applying to Rivier’s ASN program; all applications must be submitted by June 22, 2020. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a history of academic and career success as a foundation for the rigorous nursing degree program.
