Recipient Named for ASDSA 2020 Patient Safety Hero Award

I am dedicated to the health of Utanians and thank ASDSA for recognizing the importance of this legislation.

The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery Association (ASDSA) is pleased to announce the recipient of its annual Patient Safety Hero Award this week during the ASDS / ASDSA Annual Meeting.

The State Legislative Patient Safety Hero Award is presented to a state legislative member who has contributed significantly to a campaign centered on patient safety in his or her state. Utah State Representative Bradley Daw is named in 2020 for his sponsorship of a bill which would ban minors in Utah from using tanning facilities, a policy supported by ASDSA to help reduce the incidence of skin cancer. “I am dedicated to the health of Utanians and thank ASDSA for recognizing the importance of this legislation,” Daw commented.

“Evidence has clearly linked melanoma, the most deadly form of skin cancer, to indoor tanning,” said ASDSA President Marc D. Brown, MD. “ASDSA supports age restrictions on the use of indoor tanning to 18 years or older and calls for facilities to post and disseminate information about the health risks of indoor tanning to customers. We appreciate the efforts of Rep. Daw and are proud to name him as the ASDSA 2020 State Legislative Patient Safety Hero Award recipient.”
