The clinic will be led by Clinical Director Partner, Peter Barone, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT, CSCS. Peter is excited to open in Medford and adds, “I am thrilled to open a state-of-the-art physical therapy clinic in the heart of Medford, Massachusetts. Barone earned his bachelor’s in health science and a doctorate degree in Physical Therapy at Hartford University. He went on to complete his fellowship of Orthopedic Manual Therapy at Boston University which denotes the highest level of achievement in clinical excellence in orthopedic manual physical therapy. Barone leads the clinic with many certifications and expertise in the following specialty areas:
- Graston Technique/IASTM – This technique is an advanced form of myofascial mobilization — similar to deep-tissue massage. This technique utilizes specialty hand-held instruments to perform soft tissue procedures to increase circulation, relax tissue, and break up scar and adhesion in muscles and around joints.
- Post-Operative MACI Therapy – Their therapists have extensive training and clinical experience in restoring strength and function of the knee after the MACI procedure, a surgical intervention to help repair knee cartilage damage.
- Strength & Conditioning – Clinic has certified strength and conditioning specialists with extensive training and experience to help athletes gain strength and mobility for optimal performance and return to their sport.
- Orthopedics – Their board-certified Orthopedic clinical specialists have extensive experience, advanced knowledge and rigorous training in orthopedic PT, the treatment of pain related to bones, joints, and muscles.
- Blood Flow Restriction Therapy (BFRT)– This type of therapy enables patients to make greater strength gains while lifting lighter loads, thereby reducing the overall stress placed on the limb. BFR is often used to treat patients following upper and lower extremity services including ACL reconstruction, hip/knee replacement, rotator cuff and tendon repair.
- Hip Specialist – They have hip specialists that are certified therapists with rigorous next-level training and experience in the most up-to-date, evidence-based approach to hip treatment that sets our program apart from others.
- Spine Specialist– Their spine experts are highly trained and focus on patient education, advanced manual techniques, and teaching patients exercises to help restore optimal function.
- TMJ Therapy – If you are experiencing jaw pain Medford’s physical therapists can provide a treatment plan to strengthen and stretch the muscles in your face to reduce pain and discomfort.
- Dry Needling – Therapists at this clinic have advance training and hold a certification in Dry Needling, an effective technique to alleviate pain, improve range of motion and promote tissue healing.
- Work Conditioning – An intensive, work-related, goal-oriented conditioning program designed specifically to restore systemic neuro-musculoskeletal functions, muscle performance, motor function, range of motion, and cardiovascular/pulmonary functions for return to work.
Additionally, the Medford clinic:
- Accepts most major insurance plans.
- Offers convenient hours, including early mornings and late evenings.
- Does not require a physician referral or prescription to start treatment.
- Schedules each initial evaluation quickly, sometime the same or next day.
- Provides ongoing patient education on diagnosis, treatment plans and prescribed home-exercise programs.
