Press Conference on New COVID-19 Rapid Tests, May Help Ease Regulation Pressures

The United States reported 126,480 new coronavirus cases on Friday, Nov. 6, setting a record as a fall wave of infections surges.

Businesses are bending over backwards to keep their employees safe while adhering to what are often quickly changing or inconsistent regulations covering mask wearing, social distancing, and so on. It often creates confusion, and worse, exacerbates their problems.

Current-generation COVID-19 tests, while commonplace, harbor several major flaws that prevent their practical use within workplaces. This is the topic of an upcoming Press Conference on COVID-19 Rapid Tests—detailing the wild west of testing and what employers need to know—put on by JOTO PR Disruptors and guest, David Lee Jensen of USA Rapid Test, which streams live on Thursday, November 19th at 2:00 pm EST. This is a monthly press conference series that brings together industry leaders from across the business spectrum including Healthcare, Finance, Technology, Supply-Chain, E-Commerce, FinTech, and beyond to discuss the issues that we face today and the solutions we need to overcome them.

Among the most widely used tests today include the COVID-19 Nasal Swab PCR test, which requires a specially trained medical professional to administer and has resulted in at least one report of injury to the nasal cavity.(1) There are even locations where these types of tests are being made available—and self-administered—via drive-through pharmacies. Additionally, current rapid antibody tests may give false negative results, thereby increasing the changes of exposure and further spread of the disease.(2) Further exacerbating the problem are test makers falsely advertising that their tests are being manufactured in the U.S., when in fact they are being made outside the USA. Even the White House has fallen victim to COVID-19 testing flaws—including President Trump and several staff members—which were designed for people within the first seven days of the onset of symptoms and not for those showing no symptoms. While the tests provided results within minutes, they were less accurate than laboratory tests, which very likely led to false results.(3)

“Businesses are bending over backwards to keep their employees safe while adhering to what are often quickly changing or inconsistent regulations covering mask wearing, social distancing, and so on. It often creates confusion, and worse, exacerbates their problems,” says Karla Jo Helms, Chief Evangelist and Anti-PR Strategist for JOTO PR Disruptors.

David Lee Jensen, Founder and CEO of USA Rapid Test, says, “We feel the current lack of rapid, accurate tests is a big part of the reason these regulations exist. If faster, more accurate tests were available, this would go a long way in removing arbitrary and continually changing rules, allowing all states to operate using best practices and with confidence in safety.”

The situation has only grown more urgent as the surge in COVID-19 cases continue.

  • The United States reported 126,480 new coronavirus cases on Friday, Nov. 6, setting a record as a fall wave of infections surges.(4)
  • Local economies are struggling in places where more people can work from home. Although job losses have been milder in sectors with a large number of remote workforces, local businesses like retail and restaurants have been slower to hire in such places.(5)
  • Even large employers such as Disneyland Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood, in California, are feeling the pressure. State regulations mandate the respective counties where they are located reach “Tier 4” or “yellow tier” status, which is only reached once less than one daily new COVID-19 case per 100,000 people is reported in that county.(6)

“The good news is these situations are far from hopeless, as there are actually two solutions now available to help America get back to work,” Jensen explains.

Tampa-based USA Rapid Test has developed two new COVID-19 rapid tests, which don’t require a medical professional to administer. Furthermore, these tests have been developed and fully manufactured in Ohio and tested by CLIA-certified Thermo Fisher Scientific in Carlsbad, CA.(7,8) These tests would allow HR departments to conduct testing within the workplace.

David Lee Jensen is an HR expert with a long history of starting and expanding multiple companies, all aligned with the purpose of helping others. The two-time bestselling author and Fortune 500 speaker is now positioned to assist businesses in implementing and tailoring testing procedures to individual workplace environments and in accordance local and state regulations.

Jensen has advice for all businesses, which he shared with Fox Business, the U.S. Surgeon General reminds us to use the three W’s. “Wear a mask, wash your hands, and watch your social distancing.” Jensen states he would add a fourth, “Where’s your test?”

Helms further elaborates on why knowing the true data on these tests will help many employers. “Even though much of the workforce in the U.S. can work from home, there are still multitudes of businesses that simply cannot. Rapid, accurate and easy-to-administer COVID-19 testing is the essential tool that will help get people back to work in massive numbers.”

  • The upcoming press conference will discuss the flaws with current COVID-19 tests that make them impractical for the workplace.
  • New testing solutions are on the horizon that employers can implement in order to open their facilities with full confidence knowing they are keeping their employees safe.
  • And what procedures HR departments will have to follow, who will be permitted to administer the tests, how much training will be needed to properly use the tests, and much more.

The press conference will stream live on Thursday, November 19th at 2:00 pm EST.

Open for registration to the media and business leaders.
